Hello Mariko. Follow the orange arrows projected on the floor for your convenience. Your quarters are on deck 7, cabin 23. Have a nice day.

"Thank you, Marco." The young woman said as she moved at not quite military speed for her Quarters, knowing it wouldn't do to keep the Captain waiting her first day awake.

She followed the orange arrows to the indicated door and pressed her hand to the reader for admission (OOC: if that's how admission to one's Quarters is gained).

Mariko sat and ate, reading a data tab to get caught up to date on everything that had happened to get them to the place they were now.

"Marco - the ship was sabotaged whilst we were at Alpha Centauri so there were people there? People from one of the previous ships?" She asked as she took a bite of something that could charitably be called beef teriyaki.

As far as we know, we were the first GNA vessel to reach Alpha Centauri. Nothing in my data suggests otherwise.

"So the sabotage was committed by someone onboard this ship but everyone was in stasis, correct? So either we had a stowaway or someone did something that prevented you from knowing someone was awakened early and performed the sabotage." She says as much to herself as to the AI.

"But how was someone able to get around the ship without you detecting them? You would have seen or heard them. Marco - since we left Earth, have any of the cryopods been at all out of normal temperature variance or displayed irregularities in their timestamps?"

She set the tab down as she began exploring ways this could have happened.

"Even for what appears to be a very short amount of time. Something you might not pay attention to."

She finishes her meal and heads to her quarters to wait for the Commander.

Medical--->

Appigan steps out of the transit tube. He taps his authorization codes in at the Barracks entrance. Presumbly a monitoring station would be alerted that he was entering. Assuming there was enough unthawed to man that post.

"Marco. Advise Major Ascott that I have unthawed and been checked at Medical. Sergeant Appigan, Combat Medic and Shuttle Pilot. Arrived at barracks. I intend to start unpacking my equipment."

Just in case he gives a loud shout into the barracks.

"HEY YOU APES NEED TO CLEAN UP. THIS PLACE STINKS MORE THAN CRYO FLUID!"

"It is hard to get good staff these days sir," a man in fancy garb grinned as Aoppigan shouted out.
"Jan VanderBeek," he stated as he extended a hand in greeting. "Chief morale officer, and currently the chef in this here food joint. You will find most marines occupied at the moment, but feel free to grab a seat and have some chow."
He gestured for one of the benches lining the long tables of the mess hall. All around people were having dinner, almost all of them in military garb. Some civilians sat at a table in the back, looking a bit confused at their predicament.
"If there is anything I can help you with don't hesitate to ask."

"Well glad to know we have at least a few of us awake. We are using the barracks to feed the civilians? Chow can wait until after I get my guns and gear. Priority is to establish my fighting state. Do we have a Armorer or Quartermaster out of the ice? If we do time to get him at work and I don't mind waking them up if they are sleeping."

"I insist you eat something first Sergeant." He gestured for one of the enlisted to bring a plate and a cup of coffee.
"Just out of cryo your body needs the energy..." he pauses to listen to the announcement over the ship Intercomm.
"Sounds like you will need all the energy you can get soon enough."
Chief Morale Officer Jan VanderBeek grins as he gently leads Apple to the nearest table. Sitting down opposite the combat medic he fumbles for his datapad, reading a message.

"Now, to adress some of your questions," VanderBeek says as he closes the pad.
"Yes, untill we wake up the civilians we use the barracks mess hall as a cafeteria. People do need to eat." He shrugs in a what-can-we-do gesture.
"We have a full military staff awake, most if not all cryosleepers left are civilians, and untill we figure out what the hell is going on, the Captain thinks it is better to keep them in cryo. Less of a hassle. Personally, I'd like to see everyone woken up, but thats just me. I'm sure the quartermaster will assign you some equipment when needed, all your personal belongings you can find in your assigned quarters. Appartment 47, barracks level 3 according to my data. Its not big, but you will find it sufficient for a single man."

Appigan took a few steps but didn't sit down.

"I appreciate your professional interest in doing your job. Allow me to do mine. It will have to be a rain check on a full meal. Believe me I look forward to it.

As a medic I can be called on for sudden emergencies at any time of day or night, for military or civilian situations. War wounds, broken legs, radiation burns are like child birth happening whenever they choose. Simple enough to pull a kit of bandages but consider that the pharmaceuticals have to taken out of different preservation chambers.

You are right on getting food energy so let me grab portable things. Got any apples?"

He chuckles.

Geoffry laughs.

"Well so long as they aren't old."

He takes a trio of apples then makes off for the armory at a fast walk.

Even with preloaded lists, automation and fetcher carts it will take him a good while to collect a working set of gear. Weapons are never just assumed to work needing partial disassembly and test shots at the range.

His hard armor was adjusted for personal fit. As he had said he also needed to access various medications to bring his medic's satchel up to proper inventory. Standard marine pouches for survival and ammunition carry.

His rifle, the bullpup SA-80X, was standard for the troops. Around the sights he offset mounts a x2 reflex sight to one side. There wasn't a lot of time to dial this in properly but he could get it close at the range. When he had more time improving it was definitely on the to do list.

He drew a Kukri curved knife though it wasn't his preference. He had his own styles among his personal belongings. Still it did a lot of good work. Drawing a knife bayonet for the rifle made him feel better. He looked at his boots and laughed. Maybe later he'd have a knife in one too.

With talk of mutiny and radiation poisoning he clips on a pair of emergency suits. The kind that badly fit just about everybody. A gieger counter, dosimeter and a vial of radiation pills are packed in.

For a pistol it was to ye olde reliable 9mm automatic. With its multiple safety features it was safe to carry or drop.

"Marco, what is the current marine policy on explosive and smoke ordnance?"

"He'll tell you we carry them on missions only," a voice came from the next line of weapon racks. A man clad in the same type of hard armour came over to Geoffry. "Ascott don't want people walking about with stuff that can ruin this vessel in no time. I'm Will. Corporal Willem Schepenaers fully. Shuttle Dorsal gunner."

"Canadian huh?" the man concludes, seeing the flag on Apple's left shoulder. He himself has a red white and blue flag, either luxembourgh or Netherlands.
"Medic? Or evac flyer?" He grabs a few ammunition clips from the crates next to Appigan, then tosses a few others to several more marines trickling in to arm themselves.
"Who would have thought we'd find CS-3... That thing was considered lost forever."
He then shrugs. "Then again, so are we probably."

Appigan nods to the man barely pausing in his equipment checks.

"Yeah, figured. That's why I thought to ask. Was hoping to carry smokers though. Still, a general policy on per mission explosives of any type is understandable. No risk of someone slipping out the wrong thing."

He listens to the man finish.

"Medevac and cargo flights. 5,000 colonists is small city. Once started colonizing they wouldn't just be in one spot either. There would surely be outlaying farms, mining, drilling and exploration stations. Incidents might happen anywhere across our new globe. Plus the white coats figure that if there isn't an emergency the shuttle can fly out homesteading gear and bring back the whatever those outposts are producing."

He checks over the magazine issued with his rifle. Each one has a bullet slid out then pushed back in confirming the strength of the spring.

"CS-3 yeah. I guess if you've got someone with you then at least your not both lost and lonely."

He laughs.

"My call sign's Apple. Chances are you'll be paired with me. Ready to head to the hanger and check on our bird?"
