The Security Detachment Offices
The Marco Polo Brig
From: Barracks Thread
Before Captain Maxwell could determine what her next actions should be, Marco patched Lt. Shadow to her.
"Lieutenant Shadow, I appreciate your suggestion, but isn't your fighter designed for reconnaissance and defense once we've slowed to an in-system speed? I'm not sure that it could keep up with the Marco Polo under constant acceleration. I'm told the actual Captain will be functional in a few hours. It might be best to hold off and ask him once he assumes command. He will probably get an engineering team to go over the launch and recovery systems before anyone uses them. If I had a spare engineering crew sitting around, that is what they would be doing."
Jen took a few minutes to start a pot of coffee brewing. She hoped the boiling water would kill any pathogens in the water from the long journey. As she looked for where the packers had stored the mugs, the aroma of the java brewing brought her more awake than all of the functions the cryo pod had preformed. Jenni found her mug, the one marked with the "
1*" logo, setting it by the coffee pot.
She next accessed the cabinet outside of the prisoner detention area for a mylar sealed food bar normally reserved for prisoner meals. The bars were nutritionally balanced four hundred calorie meals that tasted vaguely like whatever flavor was printed on the wrapper. She selected a coconut bar, poured herself a cup of coffee, and sat down at the front desk to try to enjoy her first meal awake.
