Cryo Chambers

The cryo chamber is the huge heart of the ship. Seventy feet high, it contains numerous rows of pods, glowing with an eerie blue light. Five high, twenty wide, and stretching out what seems like forever, the five thousand pods bother the entire chamber in a cold hue.
Each pod, kept at the absolute zero temperature, contains a human being. A valuable crew member, waiting to be defrosted and awoken.

Cryo Chambers

The silence of the cryo chamber is abruptly broken, as the piercing hiss of a depressurizing pod smashes the serenity of the hall.

Somewhere, a creature stirs as foreign fluids assault its system. Slowly, reluctantly, the human awakes.

Disoriented, incoherent; the awakening bewilders, frightens.

Then realisation returns.

The life back home, parents, friends, fond memories. Life.
A past.

Now, the pod.
Cold, distant, the human slowly gains consciensness. Gains thought. Awareness.

With another loud hiss, and a soft thud of unlocking, a pod slowly opens. A human awakens.

Cryo Chambers

Initial post

Slowly, rubbing the long sleep and the weariness from her eyes, Jennifer Maxwell sat up in her cryo pod, and immediately regretted that decision as the waves of vertigo assaulted her.  She stayed as upright as she could, though, fighting to keep the vertical advance she had been paying the price to attain.  After a moment... or maybe a minute... she swung her feet to the floor.  This wave wasn't as difficult to work through as the first wave of vertigo.

The floor felt cold to the ElTee's feet.  Jen looked down to find that her feet were bare.  She then realized that not only were her feet bare, but the rest of her was as well.  She muttered to no one in particular, rasping out.  "Talk about being out of uniform."  It was more to see if she could still talk, than of actually having something important to say.

Lt. Maxwell got unsteadily to her feet using muscles that she hadn't used in a very long time.  She did not feel embarrassed about using the cryo pod to keep upright.  She smiled to herself as she realized it was still supporting her even once she was out of it.  When she was ready, she bent forward to access the small storage area.  She pulled the gray panties, bra, socks, coveralls, and cloth slippers from the area and examined each of them in turn.  The bra was as overly large for her as the granny panties were undersized.  The socks appeared to be the right size, but Jenni wasn't in the mood to lean forward to put them on her feet.  She eased her body into the coverall.  She somehow managed to fasten the snug garment enough to avoid showing anything in an improper manor.  She then slipped her feet into the cloth shoes.  Jen was about to slip the ill-fitting undergarments into her pockets, when she realized that the coveralls didn't have pockets.  "And here's another GNA cost saving program."  Jen realized that her voice was getting stronger.

Maxwell wasn't sure where the lifts to the decon showers were located, but she would venture that the large arrows in the floor were pointing in the correct direction.  She grabbed her unused underwear in her left hand and set off to find the showers.  She only wobbled a little as she walked.

Standard directional arrows lead Lt. Maxwell quickly to a large magnetic locked door, with a big warning sign stating 'use water sparingly'. The green colorcoded lock showed clear entry for anyone.
And yet the door seemed locked.

Jen waved her right hand at the place where she expected the security sensor to be located.  She then waved her right hand across the front of the door at various levels to activate the sensor.  If that doesn't work, Maxwell plans to key her relay to call for a maintenance team to fix the door.

As Jennifer struggles to open the door, a mechanical voice resounds through the ship's speaker system. It is the ship AI.

I am sorry miss Maxwell. I cannot open that door for you at this time. It seems my systems are... Malfunctioning.
I regret to inform you that at the moment you are the only person awake on the ship. Again, my system... Malfunctioned. I intended to wake up the captain. That failed. Systems woke you instead. Two other pods are currently depressurising too. Neither one the captain though.
I have however been able to activate the bridge turbolift.

Jen had a really bad feeling.  Her mind was still a little fuzzy, but something that the AI had said was nagging at her.  She queried the AI for the current date and time.

Maxwell stood in front of the decontamination showers.  Her mind raced with that knowledge.  Their ship left Earth in 2036 for a six year journey.  That meant they had been traveling for...

Jen vocalized her communication to the AI.  If it answered, she knew that the external microphones were working.  If it didn't, the Lieutenant knew that she could still use her implant.  "Marco Polo, as the ranking Navy officer awake, I designate myself to be the Acting Captain.  Direct me to the Bridge turbolift.  Send the others to my Bridge as they become functional."

Maxwell already knew that she was a damn good detective.  It was time to find some answers and the Bridge seemed to be a good place to start.

Slowly, rubbing the long sleep and the weariness from his eyes, Blake Germaine sits up in his cryo pod.

He hauls himself out of the cryopod. "Lets see, what's 26 multiplied by thirty eight? seven-sixty plus six eights are forty eight and one hundred and eighty. So seven sixty plus two twenty eight, nine eighty eight." "Marco, did I get that right".

Blake digs out the jumpsuit from beneath the cryopod and puts it on. "So, my hand-eye isn't shot either". "Okay Marco, so, how is everybody? Or am I being woken early because of a problem with the engines?"
