Re: In the Rear with the Gear [OOC]

No, in the first round, before initiatives kicked in, you shot on overwatch, then failed your roll, then had to use your action to move into cover. Then Jansen went in the middle of the round and used his ability to negate the fear/shock of the hybrid assault.

Now you are up again, but have moved from your set/braced position. You will have to move out of cover if you want to fire at the hybrid from a braced position, or just lean around the pillar and shoot from the hip.

We have room for 23 more posts here before I have to make a new thread. :)

Can I just close to close range with a shotgun in order to negate their cover?

Re: In the Rear with the Gear [OOC]

The hallway is very long. I do not think you have enough movement to cover it in one round, though you could move from pillar to pillar in your turn using that cool action they give in the book.

Re: In the Rear with the Gear [OOC]

Yeah it's a good 40 meters to where they are give or take.  Your average person has a 3 Ag Bonus so 3m walk, 6m hustle, 9m charge, 18m run...and if you had Sprint 36m sprint.  And that's a full action thing so no shooting.

Re: In the Rear with the Gear [OOC]

I'm sorely tempted to Run at the thing just to show how silly the Sprint talent is.

Sore being the operative word...

No silly is:

Alatus Jump Pack giving movement of 12 for the following...

12m  'walk'
24m  'hustle'
36m  'charge'
72m  'run'
144m 'sprint'

Re: In the Rear with the Gear [OOC]

I thought jump packs were an override of your normal move and therefore could only rise to the level of 'Charge' on that chart? Just like you cant use your Sprint talent in conjunction with a jetspeeder or wartrukk. Maybe it was a dream.

Re: In the Rear with the Gear [OOC]

Jetspeeders and wartrukk's have set speed values while the jump pack is a modification of base movement.  Mind fluff that normally has little bearing on mechanics actually kind of supports moving that quickly to engage a target or retreat.

Of course if it's important we could always house rule it but I don't imagine anyone is going to get an Alatus Jump Pack till someone becomes a Tech-Priest Enginseer and then also gets the augmentic.

Re: In the Rear with the Gear [OOC]

The Flyer trait imparted by the jump wings override your normal movement when you activate it, since it grants Flyer (12).  It intersects with Sprint a little oddly since I think technically when you Full Move using the Flyer trait you can still add your AB to the distance moved but that bonus doesn't apply when you Run because you're just doubling your usual Run move.

Reminds me a bit of that time I built a monk in 3.5 that could run something like 400-500 feet/round.  We houseruled in whiplash damage when someone decided he wanted to hitch a ride.

Re: In the Rear with the Gear [OOC]

Something like a jet pack personally I'd do something like alter the 'sprint' to be part of Technical Knock or similar mechanical augmentation talent as you force it into overdrive so to speak.

You know reach back and bang on the nozzle to engage the afterburners, lol.

wow, photons are shit. It's an Ordinary Agility test or be blinded, which means a +10 to Ag. With Nids being stupid quick and all, it would have been better just to shoot out some spicies

Fortunately for you, he failed by 1. Hybrids that use ranged weapons have a 40 AG, melee hybrids have a 45.

Re: In the Rear with the Gear [OOC]

So...

As I was perusing future advancements I came the the very strange question of:

Why in the world does every PC not have Double Team?

Tier 1, General/Offense, +10 to Ganging up on an enemy.

When you order your Comrade into Close quarters and they give you a +10 your Double Team activates and gives you an extra +10 cause regardless of the number of enemies the comrade always makes you considered to be ganging up.

One step further since AC is awesome and our Comrades are PC light...

If both individuals have Double Team they add the +10 together.

So if Zilch and Everest both had Double Team when he'd order close quarters he'd get +10 for Comrade Ganging Up, +10 Zilch's Double Team, +10 Everest's Double team.

+30 in melee.

You might even be able to handle close combat with orks for a little with that sort of continual bonus.  Spend more XP on Veteran Comrade and you get an extra +5 on top of that.  mind boggled.

Re: In the Rear with the Gear [OOC]

Cadian 99th gets Double Team by default but with the Knife having such low damage and no Pen, I just use my Autopistol in melee because the to-hit is better as well as the damage

Re: In the Rear with the Gear [OOC]

Good point Ramirez

Well with any luck when we get our next downtime I'll get a chance to start using my crafting skill on the claws/talons I totally didn't remove from Genestealers, Lictors and the Tyranid Warrior.  With a little luck and some good rolls I may be able to keep the Razor Sharp and Toxic (when used with tox dispensers that Two-Bit and I worked out trading for) as warknives or swords.

Yeah that would be...

Concerning on so many levels I'd rather not think about it and run out the threads.

Also looks like it's time for a new one.  1000 is a handful of posts away and then you can't look at them all on one page...well for us players at least.

We should get at least one more set of shots on the hybrid since I can almost guarantee it will dodge mine.
