Re: In the Rear with the Gear [OOC]

A gentle reminder to the old players, and an FYI to the new ones: the initial mission briefing is bare bones - you get the setting and approach. Then once you've chosen one, the particulars of objectives and terrain and other obstacles become clear. It's really kind of a crap shoot...but it accurately reflects war and bureaucracy as best I can. :)

Re: In the Rear with the Gear [OOC]

Wide open spaces with snow sound good for minimized contract with the bugs.  I've got grapnel and line on my character(s) if we do need to do any climbing.

That said, with two medics in tow and most of the party using shotguns I can see the caves being better for it overall composition. Plus, with Stand Watch and best-quality melee weapons I'm prepared to help in close quarters.

Who needs photovisors when you have an auger in your head giving you info about everything in a 50m range?

;)

I may be shitty at close combat but if I can get some kit req'ed in before we leave for the temple I'll be better off and even if I can't underground gets my vote.

Re: In the Rear with the Gear [OOC]

To clarify for the new guys and remind any old ones Zilch has Combat Formation to theoretically aid in squad actions.  That's what he's referencing in his IC post.

Mechanically everyone in the squad gets a +1 to thier Initiative and if you wish you can use my Int Bonus of (4) instead of your Ag Bonus should it be a (3) or less as it will then give you even more of a overall bonus to your Initiative.

Brilliant.

You Sir then go from that 1d10+2+(any other mods)

to

1d10+5+(any other mods)

When I get another free set of xp my int will go up to a 52 and then anyone using my Int will also have that number go up by another 1.  It's a win win really except for intense Ag monkeys.

Re: melee--don't forget that you can sharpen your entrenching tool for a far superior melee weapon to a knife.  Not quite as good as having a bayonet affixed but still better than *ahem* bashing a genestealer with the not-business end of a shotgun :)

Re: In the Rear with the Gear [OOC]

It's all good. I'll post a supply run tonight. That will probably take you guys three or four days to complete. Then this weekend I'll get the team together for last minute stuff and move to the location beginning of next week.

Once combat starts...maybe as soon as next weekend (because I want to start AFTER the holiday of the 4th)...it's generally a 48-hour turnaround for posting. I usually put in the end of my posts when I plan on making the next (as most of you already know).

Re: In the Rear with the Gear [OOC]

Both Ramirez and Emilia are Weapon Specialists and the Cadian 99th's Favored Basic is a grenade launcher with a clip size of 6. Errata gives WS three 'clips' of ammo, which is 18 grenades each. Before we embarked on the last mission, we passed around the grenade hat and collected a shitton of krak as well. If our grenade launchers are counted as our primaries, it's another 18 grenades to refill, but with the acquisition of the hellgun and the Lasgun talents I'll be taking, we'd be a lot better off using flashlights of varied intensity.

In short, the krak/photon-loaded grenade launchers will make for an excellent back-up, but I'd like to try to focus on flashlights this mission to test out new talents.

EDIT: The total grenade count of the Boom-Boom twins is as follows:
21 Frag grenades
22 Krak grenades
4 incendiary grenades

Re: In the Rear with the Gear [OOC]

I was implying that you only turn in you standard kit load of grenades, more accurately would be the standard load for a 31st Zakurian Siege Breakers kit.

Dem be Cadians.  The Commissar barks to do something, they follow.  It's like breeding really.  It's genetically coded into them to do as said when a person in charge tells them. ;)

House: with special ammo requisitions, whoever gets them should get at least 2 clips per the errata.  For Two-bit, that will be 36 shells of fiery fun :)

Re: In the Rear with the Gear [OOC]

quote:
"You will all proceed forthwith to the new quartermaster building that was erected last night. There you will refill your ammunition supplies, then take one additional clip, belt, or magazine for both your primary weapon and your shotgun. Those without a shotgun" he looked at the non-Zakurians in the group "will instead take two additional grenades of either the krak or photon variety. All frag grenades will be surrendered, and replaced with smoke. Team sergeant will also take a haywire grenade." He reached into his coat and pulled out a medal - a campaign ribbon for some place called Asterion - and handed it to Sgt Baker.

"Show this to get the grenades. And make sure two of the shotgunners get some inferno shells." Without further explanation, he turned on his heel and left them, striding across the compound toward his tent.

So to confirm we have the following:

1) If shotgun, +1 clip to weapon of choice
2) If no shotgun (ie not a Zakurian), get 2 grenades: krak or photon
3) All frags converted to smoke
4) 2 clips of inferno to hand out (two-bit + ???)

@AA - Do we have opportunities to use our commerce/ear to ground/other skill to procure or craft items?

@Sarge - I'm BS40 and have already told you I'm a marksmen, so if no one else makes sense, the 2nd clip of infernos would be well served with me.

Re: In the Rear with the Gear [OOC]

So the Twins will have 21 Smoke grenades by the time they're done turning things in, unless Silver and House get the hint and squirrel away the insane amount of frags that's being handed to them.

I wouldn't mind trading out some of that smoke for photon grenades, or perhaps more spicy nades. With BS 58, I can reliably put a grenade wherever we need it.

AC, how many clips did the hellgun come with?

None. It's a new weapon in a new case. Ooh...shiny! :)

Also, be prepared, when your Sgt goes to the supply guys to get your stuff, to meet some typical bureaucratic resistance. ;)

Hence, the ribbon from Jansen.
