No worries AC, whenever you get to it is fine.

For the moment Zilch is less worried about killing mutated humans and more on keeping out of the way with their precious cargo.

Radiant Presence adds +10 to Willpower tests within a 20m radius to resist Fear or Intimidation attempts. As he is an NPC leader, I have expanded this [for him only] to include Pinning tests as well.

If he dies, the next Commissar you get will similarly have a single modified Talent in his repertoire.

I am inclined to say yes, remembering the modifier of -20 for the cover it is using. I think the fulfillment of your Readied Action is approximately simultaneous with the instant/reaction roll that is required for the mental/fear test they impose. So, you pull the trigger as your eyes focus on them, and then it registers that you need to find cover.

Single shot or semi, only, though. No long sustained burst if you're moving away behind a pillar now. ;)

Also, I find it interesting that I am playing the Duran Duran/Wild Boys music video in the background while I post this. :D

Looks like I need to work on getting the talent Don't you die on me! so that doesn't happen...

Re: In the Rear with the Gear [OOC]

It's hilarious that our ranged damage dealers (Two-Bit, Me, Biggs) are all either pinned or have a Fear effect.

Also, Biggs - the bonus Niner gave in narrative time can be used to Inspire your overwatch shot...so go ahead and roll damage with 1 DoS, as the hybrid failed its dodge roll. :)

Wait, Niner's bonus was in Narrative time? So, before Initiative? Because if that's so, then with Jansen's +10 Aura bonus, Ramirez didn't fail his Fear test.

Re: In the Rear with the Gear [OOC]

In message #877 she gave her battle plans, which in OOC Message #938 I said could be considered a Command check, which gave Zilch the +10 needed to succeed on her healing check...so yes, each of you has a free +10 to use on your 'next roll'.

I just know that Biggs' VERY FIRST action would be the trigger on his overwatch, THEN everything else he plans to do, including the saving throws. So for him, that's where the +10 applies.

I was going to ask on this very topic, but then I realized that my "next roll" was the Pin check and not Fear, per both the order rolled and the order given in AC's post.

Now, if Niner goes before me in initiative (which I think should be the case) then her Inspire! from *this* round could potentially apply to the Fear check as I shouldn't be making it until I actually go this round (rationale: no actions last round = no actual overwatch so targeting/viewing the hybrid would have occurred this round).

That +10 would move me from 3 DoF to 2, which would in turn shift my shock result to a 59, meaning I'm only frightened and not frozen, so...crossing my fingers on AC's judgment on this case.

Good point. Would have been a +10 to Pinning. Oh well. Two of Jansen's Big Shootas are locked in Fear, so here's to hoping he will Terrify this turn.

There is no random perception of the hybrid(s). You will only 'see' them through the hail of lasfire if you are actively looking at, aiming at, or shooting at them in your first round of combat. As I said in my last game post.

I'm not sure I understand what I'm supposed to do with Righetous Fury. I think from lsat time we decided that I don't roll like a normal crit? What do I do then?

Re: In the Rear with the Gear [OOC]

Only War Core p250::
RIGHTEOUS FURY

When rolling Damage after a successful attack, if any die rolled
results in a natural 10 (rolling the 10 result on a 10 sided die),
a particularly bloody and spectacular hit may be inflicted (this
also includes a result of 10 when rolling 1d5 for Damage). After
resolving the effects of the hit, one of two things may happen.
If the attack dealt Damage after being reduced by Armour and
Toughness Bonus (see Step Five, below), then the shot becomes
more severe. The attacker then rolls 1d5 and consults the Critical
Hit Table appropriate to the Damage type and location of the
original attack. The target suffers all effects listed. However, the
target does not count as having suffered a Critical Hit. In other
words, if he takes Damage during later Turns it will affect his
Wounds, not directly stack onto worsening critical effects. Talents
that modify Critical Damage (such as Crack Shot and True Grit)
do not modify the critical effects generated by Righteous Fury, and
these critical effects do not stack if a target suffers Righteous Fury
multiple times. Each roll is applied as a separate effect.

Alternatively, if the attack does not do any Damage once
reduced by Armour and Toughness Bonus, then the attack Deals
1 point of Damage, not reduced by Armour or Toughness. This is
the extent of the Righteous Fury effect for this attack; the victim
does not suffer a roll on a Critical Hit Table. This represents some
weapons simply not being potent enough to deal major Damage,
but still able to do harm through a “lucky hit.”

Essentially you roll a d5 and look at the Crit chart for the location and they take that Crit even though you may not have removed all their Wounds.

Or if they somehow soak your entire damage they will still take one wound.

I don't think I was proposing a random perception of either hybrid. To wit:
1) I Pass the Pinning check on the surprise round, using the "narrative" time Inspire! for an irrelevant bonus on that check.
2) Niner invokes another Inspire! this round, granting the bonus a) this round to those that go after her, or b) next round for those that go before her.
3) I (should) go after Niner as I think her initiative is a hair higher than was rolled--should have a +5 instead of a +3 due to Zilch's Awesome Talent.
3) I plan to make an attack this round, so I make a Fear check first to see if I can actually make the planned attack.  This is my first characteristic test since the Inspire! went up so I should have a +10 to it (not included in my initial roll) and consequently I should only have 2 DoF and a lower Shock result.

just want to straighten this out before I post round #2.

Re: In the Rear with the Gear [OOC]

So an updated listing should look like this now, if I am not mistaken?

Initiative Order
Genestealer - 21
Biggs - 17
Ramirez - 16
Lichtor (variant C) - 16
Zilch - 15
Jansen - 14
Niner - 13
Two Bit - 12
Hybrids - 12
Holt - 8
Hormagaunts - 8

Holt is assumed to have made a minimum fail on his rolls at this time, so he is moving to cover and taking the full defense option.

Guess I'll have to keep an eye on this thread and not let it overload to 1000 while I'm away.

Re: In the Rear with the Gear [OOC]

AC, was that the Terrify use of Command or just a typical BLAMming? The difference is important because the former means we ignore Fear for the encounter and the latter means we just get a shot to Snap Out Of It.
