Re: The Kobold Lair - Gardbury Downs

The group positioned themselves to strike from the north.  Their goal was to use the cavern's natural passage ways and walls to bottleneck the kobolds, not allowing them to use their numbers to their advantage.  Then when the clustered up, the Dragonborn and the Invoker, could user their breath weapons and area attacks to decimate their numbers.

With the beserker charging ahead, the elder Dragonborn warrior followed suit, but not with the same cheetah like speed.  He sent his flail crashing down on the first kobold he could reach.

OOC: Surprise round action, charge from G3 to K4, kill the minion there.

13:35, Today: Malphurious rolled 25 using 1d20+9.  charge L4.

Re: The Kobold Lair - Gardbury Downs

The coin is dropped and as many times before, the surging barbarian leaps forward, quickly carving down a minion before anyone notices what happens. Turning, he blasts through them and strikes a bow wielding foe, who is struck heavily. It spits on the ground in anger.
Malph manages to advance and strikes down a smaller kobold and suddenly an unrest spreads.
The red light eminiates curiously but nothing happens...yet.

NEW ROUND!

They will act on initiative 12 - hence actions that needs to be resolved are done on this.
Players go ahead. Saskan grants Malph, an addition action which he can take on his turn.

Re: The Kobold Lair - Gardbury Downs

Chaos ensues.
Kobolds scatter, and strike at their foes, but many fall during the ambush.
A few strike weakly at you and inflict minor wounds. Kbenjar narrowly avoids a Javelin, while Ignatz notices he is surrounded.
Two archers single him out, and one aims for Saskan. Only one arrow finds a home and Ignatz notices that it is lit aflame as it leaves the bowstring!
It strikes him and aches to the touch against his skin!

They scatter and one can only wonder if those adjacent will notice assuming they are there!

NEW ROUND!

They will act on initiative 12.

- Malph is hit for 4 damage, before minion dies.
- Saskan is hit for 4 damage.
- Ignatz is hit for 4 damage. Hit for 6 damage more, and ongoing 2 fire damage (save ends).

Kobolds: Shifty+move. Locations updated. The one closest to Ignatz shifts and shoots, no OA.

Ignatz barely notices the blows he receives from the kobolds who move in to surround him- indeed, he doesn't seem to even notice their presence. His gaze remains locked on the archer he injured, and his wild grin doesn't even flicker as the arrow in his bare chest bursts into flame.

In the split second in which Ignatz is obscured by the blaze, he rolls between the two kobolds surrounding him. Before they even realize he's moved, the smoldering half-orc has torn apart the archer they were protecting.

Re: The Kobold Lair - Gardbury Downs

Ignatz is startled by Saskan's voice and he jerks around toward its source, just in time to see the draconic warrior moving in to flank the kobold behind him. Saskan's presence draws the kobold's attention for a split second, and Ignatz's pupils dilate as his feral instincts recognize the opening- however, he lacked experience fighting as a unit, and he's slow to capitalize on the opening his tactician had created. The kobold sees the blow coming just in time to deflect it, though doing so leaves its entire side numb.

Re: The Kobold Lair - Gardbury Downs

A small bell rings. The gem which appear attached to the top of an empty bronzed throne, emanates strongly, pulsating.
An alarm. Somehow you have been found out and you notices more movements; suddenly two kobolds ascend upon Ignatz. He fells one, only to see more appear!
One of the quickly, as in very quickly, moving kobolds slither in and pierces below his armor, causing him a piercing wound in the side that almost takes the life out of him, as it laughs insanely at it's success.
Two more engage Kbenjar and Saskan is shot at, with a curious tip on the arrow. As he is hit by the feet a sticky and smell liquid spreads on his feet and he is stuck!

You hear a snarl or rather a roar in the distance.
"You should not have mettled in the Shar's business, KILL THEM!"
The tone is rough and obvious, spoken in a broken common tongue, in laced with what is likely goblin. They remain at the back, not engaging you just yet and appear out of sight. Be it arrogance or similar is hard to say, but the sheer amount of kobolds leaves little time to contemplate anyways.

NEW ROUND!

They will act on initiative 12.
- Both minions strike Kbenjar, 8 damage taken.
- Moving and shifting 4 steps, quickblade hits for 17 damage against Ignatz!
- Slingers shift(NO OA), and shoot. Saskan is hit for 7 damage and immobilized (save ends).

He can see that the warrior is shouting to him, but between the blood loss and the adrenaline he only registers a few words. "...heart, we..." That's right, there were others here fighting with him. He'd forgotten. His head clears a little. He couldn't afford to lose face in front of his new traveling companions, this was the first serious fight they'd seen him in. Shifting movements are heard in the distances, and a deep laughter.
Coming ever so close to claiming a body, the group recovers and fights back.
With a few more falling, one of the slingers drop back and unleashes at the dwarf, who has taken so many of their own.
You hear barking further in, and the tongue is deep and gutteral, as if orders are being spoken.
Malph is stabbed once through a slick move and while many of them fall, a lone slinger takes a shot and hits Kbenjar, with a fiery shot, laughing.

"Hahaaa, dot's de spirit!" Ignatz growls as Malphurious delivers a crushing finishing blow. He looks like he's about to give the dragonborn a companionable slap on the back when the slinger behind him moves. Ignatz reacts instantly and thoughtlessly, darting toward the kobold with claws and fangs bared.
