Re: Out of Character thread-

Warfryn:
Warfryn is a fey pact warlock intending to go with a lot of debuffing powers.  His paladin side will be a bit of a slow burn, starting with Divine Challenge and eventually getting on to Powers like Wrath of the Gods.  He gets more Paladinny from 11th level (if we ever get that far)

I'm excited to see it in action.  When the game first came out, I pioneered the Pallock the Feyladin build.  It's lost to the sand or time / gleemax bullshit, but it's one of the best 5th man utility builds out there because it can do so
Much pretty well.  I only ever got mine up to maybe 15.  You'll have great fun.

Side note to that, you might want to have the shadow walk/conceal/stealth convo now.  It's always one that people have very opposite views on.  I believe it should give stealth check at end of move, if you beat the passive perceptions your golden.  It's critical to the viability of the build, so hammer that out.

Mal, if you went Dragonborn wouldn't Breath be great in the absence of a dedicated minion clearer?

Probably.  Plus it has a pretty good fest tree for the lower levels.  I only need 3 feats really, so yeah breath to help clear minions sounds good.

Edit: Basically built.  Went Footwork Lure for slides/prones and Cleave for trash clearing assistance.  Encounter went with Serpent's Coil for debuff and grab.  For Daily, need help deciding between the following:

Driving Attack (MP 2) - A single-target multiattacker that is Invigorating, pushes, hits a NAD on the second attack, and knocks prone. An excellent choice for any Fighter with a good Constitution, and a good choice for everyone else.

-or-

Villain's Menace (PHB) - This feature lets you pick a single target and beat up on him with a hefty buff to hit and to damage, and you get a buff even if you miss. A very powerful ability for all Fighters.

Another decision I need some help with:

Multiclass Warden = encounter power mark all targets you're adjacent to.
Multilcass Monk = encounter power Stone Fists of Fury, if you hit something, you can deal extra 4+str damage,

I like Driving Attack for extra control and polearm synergy, and Warden MC for extra Defender goodness. I'm surprised there aren't feats you want more at L1 though!

Re: Out of Character thread-

For what it's worth, I'm not a huge fan of abilities like Villain's Menace, because in succeeding with a hit you are automatically and significantly reducing the bonus you get. 2[W] + STR damage doesn't leave much time for you to milk your very sweet bonuses before it's dead. So for me the other choice, which I don't have access to, sounds a heap better. I usually take Comeback Strike with a tanking fighter, mostly because it is Reliable. mmm.

Regarding MC Warden, that AOE-taunt is CHOICE. The only question I would have is what are you giving up to go MC Warden, because really that's the only possible downer for taking an otherwise amazing ability. If you went that way, is it a encounter power for you? I don't know much about multiclassing.

I was actually just inputting both of these in as my choices.  Good to know you're thinking the same thing.  The only 2 other options are improved defense or improved initiative.   Mass marking is pretty awesome though.  I was going Defenses st level 2 and dragging flail at lvl 4

Re: Out of Character thread-

Opps, here's a more thorough list of options. I'm definitely taking Flail Expertise as 1 of my 2.  The second I was thinking mass mark of MC Warden would be quite nice.  The 2 general options to improve chance of going first or improving NADs are always quite good.  Bolstering breath could be good, buffs for allies and death for minions.  Copy/pastes from the handbook.

General
Improved Defenses (HotFL) - +1 to NADs

Improved Initiative (PHB) - +4 to Init

Class
Dragging Flail (MP) - Given the advent of Flail Expertise, this feat just got a whole heck of a lot better as a repositioning tool.

Encouraging Shield (D 385) - Adding your Shield bonus to your Will defense is a pretty nice use of a feat, though it's something I'd recommend further down the line.

Mobile Challenge (D 378) - In case you hadn't noticed, this feat combines with Combat Superiority allows Fighters to stuff shift + charge scenarios (which makes you able to actively stop them instead of just being able to punish them), and as such I consider it a very important thing to have.

Dragonborn Racials
Bolstering Breath (PHR: DB) - Making your Dragon Breath ally-friendly and handing out a bonus to hit is very good for a Fighter, who spends his time in the thick of it.

Draconic Combat Challenge (PHR: DB) - Some spiffy extra damage for your CC attack.

Dragonborn Frenzy (PHB) - +2 to damage while bloodied is pretty applicable to a Fighter.

Re: Out of Character thread-

Dragging flail does sound sweet. Considering you are not going to be alone up front, you have a rogue, a barbarian and my SC, anything that allows you to nuance positioning is going to produce great results.

Yep, it will be awesome.  I just have to wait for the +1 to stats at level 4 to get the Dex 15 requirement.  But my footwork lure will be good enough to start.  I can slide 1 or knock prone.  Pretty nice for an at will :)

Edit - MC Warden also give me training in Perception..+5 to passive perception is never a bad thing.

Kbenjar, Warfryn, I added your two portraits in as tokens and put you outside the tavern. Let me know if you have any trouble moving your tokens.

I had actually put in a portrait.  Perhaps not THE portrait thought.  I have replaced it with the token you have uploaded.  For which many thanks.

Last comment I saw suggested I take Sorcerer over the rogue since we aren't using the warden; I was going to create a sorcerer based off an old one I've used.  Last chance to ask for something else.   I'll create my character when I get off work.

Re: Out of Character thread-

Crow I believe you're right and the concensus was that sorcerer would shore up our lack of overal AoE for minion control, but honestly if you strongly prefer the rogue you should do that instead, we'll be fine either way.
