Greetings everyone and welcome!

First I'd like to say thank you to everyone who has shown interest in my little collection of games.

Secondly, I ask for your patience as I get things up and running.  I have a 9-5 weekly job that demands much of my attention and actually blocks me from RPOL on my work computer.  I CAN access it via my phone, but it can be awkward on the small screen.

Third, I apologize for this, but I'm considering thinking of maybe possibly limiting the threads to TWO games per system.  Standby on this, as I need to double-check everyone's requests.  If I do this, it will fall to a 'first-requested' process.  Sorry I didn't think of it sooner.

Last, I am accepting applications for a Co-GM!  This person would have full autonomy to run solo game threads so we could potentially expand the game's accessibility.  PM me if you're interested.

Hi everyone! Merry Christmas. I am yet another player, though an unfortunate series of events involving international travel, a broken laptop and the flu have prevented me from actually doing anything. But I'm looking forward to the game, and hope to start soon.

I'd like to think that it would be difficult for next year to be worse, but I don't want 2017 to think that's a challenge.

I'm still here. Every time I try to do this, something ALWAYS interrupts me. I wanna rp! :*(

Part of it is it's been a crappy month..

First: "yeah you got personal leave"
Then: "We don't give leave to advisors on the floor during the holidays" (So I tell my folks that..who go to Tx to visit my brother)
Then: I get leave with no way to get with family at all...
Then: Go in for an oil change and battery replacement. Come out with new radiator/thermostat (saved 300 bucks thanks to a friend)
Then: (Yesterday) Apparently 7 days leave = 5 days  actual.. so I missed work.
Then: (Today) I'm 'officially' on leave, YET still on the schedule. No way to clock in.. BUT supposed to be working...

Honestly.. I want to do vile things to the AC units to the call center.. watch the place melt down as I dump 20 pounds of metal shavings into the AC/Power Supply for the servers.

I'm so sorry to hear that, Kain.  My own week hasn't been as bad.  I wasn't able to visit my out of state family, but I have time off with my significant other.


I feel bad for people who don't have the time or energy to roleplay.  I've had weeks and even months like that as well, where my Muse just seemed to slip into a coma, and nothing I could do could awaken Her.   It's very frustrating.

I'm loving it.  My own Muse has been a little rusty lately, so I'll need to oil the naughty little girl up, I guess.  :)

I am enjoying my story a lot, thank you for allowing me to play a character I've been wanting for quite a while.

For me, it's far too early to tell at this point.  However, if it goes the way I expect it to go (famous last words) it should be good, but I'll wait until the first Chapter is over before I comment proper.

     MAGfest was very cool.  The hotel/convention center was packed when I got there around noon on Saturday.  I went up and down two full parking garages, and ended up parked in BFE.  Had to walk through the cold and a little snow to get inside.  Luckily, the Bell Hop station let me check a bag, so once I was in cosplay, I dropped it off.

     The convention hall was split into four equal sections: Console video games, sales, PC video games, and coin-op games.  Every game was free to play, and there were cabinets and pinball machines I hadn't seen in decades.

     A floor upstairs was dedicated to tabletop gaming, and there was a library where you could check out hundreds of board games.  One room was nothing but RPG tables, with random pick-up games, tournaments, and sanctioned events.  That floor was so packed, there were people in the halls playing Settlers of Catan, Magic the Gathering, and Risk (to name a very few).

     Got to hang with friends, getting photos and playing board games.  Had a great time.  Next year I'm getting a room at the hotel!

     Also got some roommates for the Katsucon, to be held next month in the same place!  I won't have any students at that time, so I'm taking a Friday off so I can go three days.

That sounds wonderful!!!  I'm so glad you got to go and enjoy yourself (and am very jealous).   :)

I hope the posting schedule is fast enough for everyone.  Let me know if I need to pick things up and I'll see about shifting my priorities.

Most of my games have only a few updates a week, and my games average only every other day, so I'm good.

All of my games are slow and, though I would like a faster posting rate, I shall neither ask or expect such.  If you can only post once or twice a week, then that will be fine.  I won't ask anyone to shift priorities for a game.

I'm happy with how it is, it could be faster but I'm not as regular as I used to be thanks to the lovely thing called work...yay! So I'm happy where it is!

I doubt you did anything wrong. Sadly rpol attrition is a very normal thing. Likely some players just lost interest. I hope that's not the case but it's all to often the problem. That said I'm loving it! And would happily start a second character if you need more entertainment!

Dear players,

     I accidentally turned one of these games into a 'party' session by giving the main player a group of four (4) NPC adventurers.  I feel that me running all four of them could get a little ridiculous, especially if I have to leave all the main decisions up to the single player.

Zandi, the rules of 5e are 80% the same as 3.5e, and are actually simpler.

And thank you!  All the Attributes are the same.  We still use hit points and attack rolls and damage rolls.  The saving throws are now just based on each attribute (Strength Save, Dexterity Save, etc.).  No more skill points.  If you are proficient in a skill, you get your Proficiency Bonus, which starts at +2 and goes up every four levels.  Characters are now a combination of Race, Class AND Background, which gives you personality traits, a flaw, and a special ability.  Feats are optional, and you only get one every 4 levels, otherwise you increase your Abilities.

I'd like to, but real life (such as health and my accursed father) keeps getting in the way.

Like David, I am not really into cross-gender RP, however, in the interests of helping out, I could give this a go.  If no other female Player wants to take over any of the NPC's, I'll go for Relba Nightswain.

Now, I am not one for D&D, I don't know 5e and I have never played a Rogue before so, if that is not a deterrent, let me know.

 if we where in a traditional table top setting,I would offer to GM. But to be honest, I don't know computers very well. I am not even sure how people get pics for thier profiles beyond those for the avatar provided on this site.

     There was a time you could submit images to RPOL and you had to wait about a month for them to insert them into the mix.  No personal profile pictures.

     But I think they cancelled that service.  Let me check.

     You are free to create a Level 1 Ifrit Icon Solarian who is an orphan from another solar system.  However, she cannot have saved a whole Pact World from annihilation, not at level 1.  Perhaps she has information about an approaching, mysterious threat, but doesn't know specific details?

I'm dropping the Star Wars D6 system from my lineup.  I'm going to start using Starfinder for any sci-fi type games.

Any existing Star Wars games can be converted if needed.

 Nope, I want to use Bab 5 rules, just to be disruptive. :P

I love a good Cyberpunk game (CP2020), I don't like Shadowrun, but I can be convinced to play in a Shaodwrun/Cyberpunk sort of game if there was no magic in it.  However, though it may be simple enough to learn, for some reason, I do not like the Cogent Rules.  Is there another System you might have in mind, or are you set on this one?

Just throwing this out there since I don't seem to be having much luck other with the amazing GM we already have :D

Is anyone playing in, or aware of, any M&M 3e games accepting players? I'd really like to make one or two more characters using the system but I don't seem to have much like finding games that last or actually get started past concept discussion.

Something that would fit either a Carnage/Prototype mix character or a Cable/Gamorah equivalent would be great :D

I like the idea of the background generator.  Reminds me of something similar in Cyberpunk 2020 (and a few other games), where you roll on a Life Path Table for events that happen while growing up.

We've got a pretty vicious cold ripping through our house right now.  It only seems to last a few days, but those few days have really knocked people down.  I'm the only one who hasn't gotten it yet -- hoping all my hands-washing is working, but I feel like this post should end with something more interesting, like, "I can hear the virus pounding at the door.  I don't know how much longer I can..."

I say it is incumbent on any adventurer to be aware of where they are going and to bring proper supplies.

Packs are pre-generated based on background details of a character's class, and a Scholar, Entertainer or Priest wouldn't be expected to carry rope.  :)

I'm here!  I haven't seen much to do IC right now, is all.  I don't think I can implement Corra's patented Door Handling Method without pushing Relba into the pit.

I'm here, and I'm okay.  I'm enjoying myself, even if I get distracted by shiny things occasionally.

I am here, despite my recent absence, and am enjoying the game, but would enjoy it less if we did not do things like discuss certain options.  For me, RPGs are about role playing and though we don't need to do it all the time, any chance we get to do so is a diamond moment.  I understand D&D can be a little different in that aspect, but little to no discussion is not fun for me.  Even though I do not like D&D, the best games I have played in have been D&D games where the party bantered amongst themselves.  I remember those moments more than any of the death defying feats and acts we had to traverse.

     So to clarify; You would enjoy it more if we spent more time discussing things in character.

No.  In summary, I prefer it when we are allowed or make an effort to discuss things in Character.  As I said, we don't have to do it all of the time, just those times when it makes sense for us to do so.

I thought the discussion on what to do with the goblin was good, TBH, because it revealed things about the character and morality of the PCs. It would be one thing if we were indecisive (and I think there have been instances of that) but in this case the characters had different, revealing approaches to the problem.

From my point of view, you can never have too much discussion about something if it gets us to where we need to be.  As Zokarra said, the goblin discussion revealed a little more about our Characters and how they think and react.  To me, that is always a good thing.

No.  If there are things we need to talk about, then no matter how long long it takes, that should be done IC.  If it is a minor issue and does not effect the game that much, it can be done OOC.  My point is and has been, that in a Role Playing Game, Characters should be able to role play, and sometimes, that means having long, meaningful discussions.

     Now, I would remind everyone that this is a 'play-by-post' game and cannot be run the same way as a tabletop session.  Your posts would be best to include some narration regarding what your character is doing/thinking, and of course dialogue as necessary.  When you make an action, please provide an OOC (orange) roll or tell me in a Private Line what you're doing.  I'm not a mind reader, so you need to tell me if you're searching for traps or searching a dead body for clues.

     On that note, bodies are not automatically looted.

     Remember the clock is always ticking, and the more time you spend investigating empty rooms or questioning captives, the better chance more baddies can show up.

     Speaking of clock, how is the posting speed for everyone?  I know I've been a little lazy lately, but my intent is to post at least every day, unless I'm waiting for a reply.  I'm not keen on NPCing people too quickly, because I know Real Life has to come first.

     Most of all, every team needs a leader, someone to ultimately makes final decisions for the group.  If three different opinions are voiced, I can't proceed with all of them.  Someone needs to choose one and let me know what it is.  At least, that's what has worked best in every group I've ever played or run.

     I think we're a good mix of personalities and abilities, and I like all the role-playing and character development that is happening.  Keep moving forward!

     Please stop rolling Investigation and Perception at the same time.

     They are two very different checks.

     I consider Perception to be Sight and Hearing, or any kind of cursory inspection of a room or object.  i.e. The candlestick is sitting on a rolltop desk and covered in dust and cobwebs.

     Investigation is more of a hands-on examination of an object for hidden clues, or considering a collection of clues to solve a mystery.  i.e. The dust around the candlestick has been disturbed recently, and it feels lighter than it looks.

     If you ARE going to roll them both, then please clearly declare what two different things you are 'Investigating' and 'Perceiving' on/at.

Good grief, I leave you people alone for a moment and all of the sudden we're rolling Initiative!

Posting speed has been, if anything, just a little bit fast for me, but I don't mind if Corra occasionally does need to be NPC'd, and I seem to be keeping up mostly well enough.  Which is to say, I'm happy with the posting speed, I just hope people aren't too frustrated with mine.

And along with that, I know it's a bit late, but I also feel like the times we've sort of gotten stuck talking something out have been pretty good scenes, really.


And IC, Corra seems to have some... I mean, she doesn't have a problem with authority, exactly, as long as it leaves her alone.  But setting aside "leader" and going more with the old (and OOC) concept of a "caller", I lean towards Admiria as the one whose lead you, as GM, should probably follow if there's a question since our game was originally her thread.  I know that doesn't mean, like, that it's all about her now that the rest of us are here - speaking as one of us, I do think we matter too - but if we just need to pick someone, it seems like as good a basis as any.

My second suggestion would be Franna because she's just adorable and if she made a bad choice, who could stay mad at that?

The four words "Free Form", and "Wild West" do not inspire me with any kind of enthusiasm.  I'm sure they are and can be great, but they are are not for me.  Cyberpunk now, proper Cyberpunk and not the Elves and co kind, is right up my street and I would give my left eye (to be replaced by a cool Kiroshi Cybereye), to be in one.

Okay, so much for that.

Looking for three people to be in a Starfinder campaign.  Running the Dead Suns Adventure Path.  Any takers?

That looks... neat, and apparently the rules are only $10, which I could do, but.. well, probably better wait to see if I'd actually be using them. grin   It says it is OGL, but the system reference isn't up yet.

I can't really tell -- is it, like, pure sci-fi, or is it the Pathfinder version of Spelljammer, or.. what?

     It is Pathfinder 2.0.  It is an upgrade to the Pathfinder ruleset, and also a flash forward in their lore.  You can import existing Pathfinder characters with just a little update.  Spelljammer is a good analogy.  Magic in space with lasers.

It has some really good ideas in the rules.  I really like the way they layered class and theme to create different archetypes... I didn't really see what they were trying to do with those until I got to some of the examples, but it looks neat.  I haven't done much with Pathfinder, but I don't remember seeing Themes before.

I will say at least as it's written, it seems a lot more science-fiction-with-magic than Spelljammer, which was really fantasy-in-space.  But it does look fun, and I like that there's none of that, "magic and technology are incompatible opposites for no particular reason" nonsense.  I'm in!  Already have a great idea for a character: Kyra Furbairn, an Ysoki Soldier...  or maybe not, that feels strangely familiar.

Dibs on playing a Technomancer! grin  Well, unless somebody else wants to.  Operatives also look cool.  Or an Envoy.  Hmm.

Soldiers even look neat, for being fighters, but I do already have Corra going.

I want to help out, I really do, but this System, the D20 one, is not to my liking.  That said, and again, in the interests of helping out, if no one else volunteers for a spot by the end of this week (which would be Sunday, Monday latest), let me know and I'll put forward an RTJ for an Android of some sort, though I'll have to look again to see what best fits my personality in that regard.
