Re: The Speak Easy:  OOC Talk, Questions and Answers

Welcome aboard!  :)

Context Question: I know why Flyboy is here on this flight on this night (making a delivery to Doc and Driver), and I know why Scout is aboard (helping Flyboy), but why are Sparks, Cowboy, and Numbers aboard?  Did they pay for transport to this same place on this same night?  Is this just the first stop of a multi-legged journey to shuttle various folks to various places?  Etc.?  O_o

EDIT: Ah!  The GM's ninja post just told me why Cowboy is there.  How about Sparks and Numbers?  :)

Re: The Speak Easy:  OOC Talk, Questions and Answers

In reply to Flyboy (msg # 14):

Here's the background.

Flyboy was hired by the Canadian Government who is working with the British government on a Survey and weather gathering mission to the Northwest Territories. The mission also required Sparks and Numbers to set up their equipment on top of mountains.  With all the gear and work to keep camp, Cowboy and Scout hired on to help with the work.

Did they pay, yes, you've been paid by the Canadian government.

I've got some work to do with character backgrounds, gear and money, I'll get you all straightened out this week

Note:  Flyboy has not been payed for the booze he just landed in America.

Re: The Speak Easy:  OOC Talk, Questions and Answers

OK, that helps so far, thanks...  :)

Cowboy seems to be lending a helpful hand in liaising with Doc.  Is Cowboy the one procured the booze to sell, and the one doing business with Doc?  Or is Flyboy the one actually doing business with Doc?  Or are they both in it together?  O_o

Re: The Speak Easy:  OOC Talk, Questions and Answers

In reply to Flyboy (msg # 16):

Flyboy is the primary on this deal.  He's made these runs many times for Legs Diamond.  Flyboy knows Cowboy and Scout well, he has worked with them many, many times, not only smuggling hooch, but also hunting trips and taking various people into the bush.

Sparks and Numbers are the relative new comers to the group.  Although the group of five has just spent the last 6 weeks together in Northern Canada so they have gotten to know each other fairly well.

NOTE: Flyboy would recognize Driver and Doc, they've picked up for Legs before, but it's a very truncated business relationship, not a friendship at this point.

Have past deliveries to Doc and Driver been paid in advance or paid on delivery?  :o

I was going off Driver’s character info, where it says that this particular shipment at least was paid ahead

In reply to Doc (msg # 19):

Yes, that is the information you have.  Driver and Doc understand the booze to be paid for.  Legs used Paul Quattrocchi as a buyer.  No one has heard from Quattrocchi since Legs was killed.  But then know one has heard from Doc or Driver either.

Typically half was paid ahead of time by Paul Quattrocchi who set up payment to Flyboy, then the balance would be paid upon delivery.

Legs was a good customer, so when Quattrocchi told him he'd be paid in full on deliver he didn't question it.

So would we have the second half of the money? Or was the second half usually paid by Paul as well?

You were there when Legs gave Paul the entire payment for the booze.  You expect it to be completely paid for.

sort neat that way... in my games  when battels  start, the posts come quick, even though we got folks scattered all over the RL world?

it helps add to the intense  battle field feeling , and the  whole 'fog of war' thing

Re: The Speak Easy:  OOC Talk, Questions and Answers

As a GM, I'm thrilled the way this kicked off.

I'm really liking the RP you guys are putting on the board.  Good stuff, staying in character.
So much more in depth than the standard RPG where a bunch of strangers automatically trust each other with their lives.

I love it.

Re: The Speak Easy:  OOC Talk, Questions and Answers

all good  books, movie s and  RP games  have  a 'table setting' period. What  the players  do with it after that table setting, is   reflected in the game.

and  a  the frame work is there too, so  the guessing is limited  and the RP  is mor e free to flow

Flyboy I'm going to need 6 pilot rolls, please make them in the thread.

I hope you don't mind me RPing you taking off in the game thread.  The next step is a direction and finding a safe place to land.

Anyone who wants to help spot a place to land, make a spot check

Re: The Speak Easy:  OOC Talk, Questions and Answers

GM:
The plane is well over a hundred yards away when they start firing.  First pistols, then machine guns lighting up the dock  A few bullets hit the plane, busting out one window and spraying glass over Amelia.

Would my four ranks of Wheelman for flying the plane reduce the damage to the plane by four?  Would that change whether the bullets damage the window or not?  O_o

EDIT -- Here are my rolls, as posted in the IC thread:
RPoL Dice Roller:
21:46, Today: Flyboy rolled 25 using 1d10+17.  Pilot Roll #1.
21:46, Today: Flyboy rolled 21 using 1d10+17.  Pilot Roll #2.
21:46, Today: Flyboy rolled 25 using 1d10+17.  Pilot Roll #3.
21:46, Today: Flyboy rolled 26 using 1d10+17.  Pilot Roll #4.
21:47, Today: Flyboy rolled 26 using 1d10+17.  PIlot Roll #5.
21:47, Today: Flyboy rolled 18 using 1d10+17.  Pilot Roll #6.

Is a roll of 18 really an automatic failure?  O_o

Yes, feel free to narrate the takeoff details for me.  :)

What does Iain know about this area, in terms of which lakes are likeliest to have fuel available for the plane?

You know there are numerous lakes to the west, there are villages that have grown up around the bigger ones.  You can see lights from here.

I posted a view in the thread.

Re: The Speak Easy:  OOC Talk, Questions and Answers

The Vermont side of Lake Champlain might work. It would take them at least a few hours to get around the lake by car, and Burlington would have fuel and we could sell the booze there
