Re: OOC Thread

I posted my action and then I went back to read the thread to double check my HP when I saw in message 60 and 61 that Thorfire gave Celador his rapier and Therarak gave his crossbow. I am going to roll 1d8 for the difference in the damage between 2d4 and 2d8, seem fair?

Seems reasonable to me. I will post something tomorrow. Would do it tonight but don't want to fall asleep mid post!

Re: OOC Thread

no prob. I am sad to report that one of my other games here is ending, the DM is stretched too thin. He is the one that also runs the West Marches with a dozen or so players and 50+ characters. He limited the number of characters per player in that game with some of the excess characters just disappearing in mid campaign a la the 'Thanos snap.' My three characters survived.

Re: OOC Thread

Thanos snap - interesting idea.

One of my favorite games, three years old, finally came to a planned end. We finished the Red Hand of Doom and the DM admitted he was losing interest. To his credit, he stuck with it until we ended that adventure, then parted ways.

The only other game I'm in was dead for multiple YEARS, then out of the blue the DM returned and asked if anyone was still out there. We restarted about a month ago, but the game has lost a bit of its original magic (perhaps with the loss of some of the original cast).

Celador Qiris:
You really have retained the feel of Throfire's/Mark's voice. impressive.

Thank you! It turns out playing a character like Mark would play him is kind of fun. I appreciate the little punk (Thorfire, I mean, not Mark) now more than ever.

Spent too much time recapping Wangrods tonight, so will have to hold off here until Saturday!

Re: OOC Thread

I will have to review the game thread to be sure, but by my count I don't see that anyone has healing potions left and Therarak has already administered healing draughts to Celador, Thorfire, and Lazaret since your last long rest.

Also not sure what Therarak has for available spell slots, but I will check. Assuming he still has one, he does have cure wounds memorized (which in retrospect might have come in handy before our last battle), but of course you need him conscious for that to be of help.

Re: OOC Thread

So I went back and reviewed everything that's happened and discovered that Therarak has already used all 3 of his available spell slots.

He cast Cure Wounds on Celador in Chapter 11, msg# 151.
He cast Cure Wounds on Lazaret in Chapter 12A, msg# 74.
He cast Cure Wounds on Thorfire in Chapter 12A, msg# 145.

That leaves him with NO spell slots and Thorfire's life now hangs by a thread after 2 death saving throw successes and 2 failures!

Here's how we're going to play it.
1. Therarak and Celador can work together one last time to stabilize him. DC10 Medicine check - I will grant advantage to whomever rolls. Or, since you are both +1, you can each roll a die and take the best one.
2. If neither medicine check works, then it comes down to the final death saving throw, straight up, 10 or better he stabilizes naturally and lives, 9 or less he dies.

Feel free to roll for #1 when you're ready!

Re: OOC Thread

Map is updated. I put everyone over behind the boulder, assuming you didn't want to move the unconscious Thorfire. You will have enough time to move to wherever you'd like before anything appears.

The sound Therearak heard is coming from the entrance on the west end of the chamber (where you originally entered).

Will also update experience thread. Working on that right now!

Re: OOC Thread

As we clean up things Beyond the Statue, we should probably give some thought to what to do next.

The heroes still have their mission to (what was it again?) find Zelgor's brother's spell book in the hidden away tower up north, so that's still out there. Rather than continue to play three other people's characters, I would prefer to write out them in the coming weeks, so that leaves a few options to fill out the party.

1. I can play one or two other characters (Lazaret, Liarel, or someone else). I'd prefer to do no more than two and we can treat them either as NPCs or actual characters. I will say many experts advise against having the DM play an actual character because it inevitably appears that he's cheating on behalf of said character.

2. You can create a new character to join up with Celador.

3. We can try to recruit someone from another game. I'll admit, it would be intimidating to DM for a relative stranger, but I'm willing to expand my comfort zone for the sake of the game.

4. Some combination of 1, 2, and 3.

5. We can tie a bow on it in the next town and call it quits.

Any thoughts or preferences?

Re: OOC Thread

I am still interested in playing if you are interested in running. I can come up with a new character that we can introduce along the way, I think it is fine to retire Laz and Thorfire and Therarak. If you want to run an NPC that is fine, how does an NPC necessarily differ from you playing a character? I am fine inviting a stranger to the mix. I play with a whole bunch of strangers in my other game.

Re: OOC Thread

So my computer bit the dust and I lost all my maps as a result.
I updated the game map, but it was just from memory... there's a good chance that I missed one or more details.

You are currently in the "lightning chamber" at the northernmost edge of the map. You can either exit south (the way you came in) and try the unexplored passageway leading northeast or you can look to the landing on the north wall of the current chamber (where the master disappeared).

Choice is yours!

Re: OOC Thread

A person from the west marches group is starting their own 5e campaign. Any interest in joining? I think the name is "A Grave Situation" (the theme is fighting undead). There are four players now, I'm not sure how many they are planning to add.

Re: OOC Thread

Starting at 1st level? If so, I'm interested. Are you already in the game?

P.S.
Celador Qiris:
I did the short rest thing already and spent my last hit die. What do Therarak, Thorfire and Lazaret have? I can take one of them so that you don't feel it necessary to post for all three (four if we include Liarel)

The Diminutive Duo are both at about 1/2 their total HP, so strong enough to pursue the Master. Thanks for offering to take one of them over, but believe it or not, we are pretty close to the end of this chapter, so I don't mind playing the 3 (or 4 if you count Liarel) of them for the duration.

The DM said there is one spot left if you are interested. “A Gave Situation” the DM is IvoryHaze. Send him an RTJ. Tell him you know Keothi.

Re: OOC Thread

I looked up A Grave Situation and had my RTJ all filled out and ready to submit, but then I chickened out. I'm afraid if I join another game, I will be stretched too thin (has happened before) and will need to drop out of another game.

Tell him thanks for the offer, but I'll have to just stick with the games I'm in.
