Getting Started

Thanks, everyone, for joining so quickly! Now I'd better get my act together. For those of you new to rpol feel free to explore, ask me questions, or check out the help link!

Now that we're in the game, the next task for all of us is to create a party. Feel free to use the OOC thread to discuss what you would like to play. Hopefully that'll mean we get a balance. No multiclass, no evil characters, and if you want to play something outside of the original players handbook, you'll have to send me the info, because the PH is all I have!

House Rules:
This is my first time DMing, so I don't have a canned set of rules. I have played enough other games to know what I think works best, so here goes:

1. Have fun and don't be a jerk. If you have an issue with someone, let me know and we'll try to work it out.

2. DM has the last word. If you think I totally forgot or misinterpreted something, you may very well be right and I won't mind a respectful reminder/double-check. If, however, it turns into a player or players trying to run the game, then we're all in trouble, so don't do that.

3. Post in present tense: Urso looks around the room then enters. Urso looked around the room then entered.

4. Pick a color for your dialogue (don't use orange or red) and stick with it. Use italics for thoughts made to oneself.

5. Use orange font for OOC posts done in game, including stuff from the die roller.

Names:
In order to get you into the game, I had to assign you a name. Please let me know your character name as soon as you have it so I can update it.

Character Sheets:
If you click on the Character Details link, it should open a blank character sheet that I created for you. This is for you to fill in. Standard 27 point buy. 1st level. Rpol is admittedly light on the formatting, so it probably won't look all perfect when you first fill it in, but I'm sure you'll figure it out.

Also, in the biography section, please format as follows:
Line 1: Race Class, level (i.e. Human Fighter, Level 1 or Half-Orc Barbarian, Level 1 or Mountain Dwarf Paladin, Level 1)
  Line 2: Armor Class Current HP/Max HP (i.e. AC16 HP 8/10)
This will allow everyone to know status more quickly in-game.

Posting:
Once we are ready to start, I will post a new thread and give you some details of the immediate surroundings. From there, anyone can post by hitting the Post a reply link on the bottom right corner of the most recent post. As a general rule, your dialogue should be in a color (pick your favorite, but not orange or red) and anything out of character should be in orange. So it should look something like this:

Urso races across the room and swings his quarterstaff at the hobgoblin chieftan, "Your days of treachery are over!"
01:03, Today: DM, for the NPC Urso, rolled 16 using 1d20+3.  quarterstaff vs. hobgoblin chief.
01:04, Today: DM, for the NPC Urso, rolled 4 using 1d8+3.  damage.
OOC: Don't know if I hit or not, so I rolled damage just in case.
