Good morning, I currently have two players that are responding very promptly and one more that has explained they will be delayed for a bit. Can I get a headcount of anyone else still wanting to actively participate?

And for the active players, shall we try to recruit one or two more or shall we proceed on with what we have? I had planned the scenario for a group of 4-5.

Thanks,
Quaestrix

I'll be heading to Oregon with the family for the next couple days to see the eclipse. We're camping and the massive influx of people is probably going to crash cell reception like crazy, so I probably won't be posting during that time.

Recruiting one or two more players would be fun as well as useful. I vote for doing so!

I may also be a bit sporadic this week. My work is shaping up to be a madhouse.

I have returned to civilization!

The eclipse was amazing. I could have stayed home and gotten to see ninety-something-percent, but there really is nothing like seeing a total solar eclipse. The temperature drops, the whole horizon looks like sunset, and you can even see planets if any happen to be in the right place! (In this case, we only got to see Venus; the gas giants are positioned for nighttime viewing, Mercury's too close to being in line with the sun and probably got drowned out by the corona, and Mars is behind the sun relative to where we are.)

Still, I'm pretty glad to be back home. I get to sleep on a real bed, for one, without being hemmed in by a sleeping bag (I'm one of those people who turns into an amateur contortionist while asleep). The biggest thing, though, is that I really missed my cat.

My father was just diagnosed with fast-acting ALS/Lou Gehrig's disease. It's progressive and there's no cure. The doctors give him 2 to 12 months. I can't imagine a worse disease. I'm trying to find a way to move out there but everything is up in the air. I plan on continuing to game because I need to not think about this for at least a few minutes a day, but I can't make any promises. Thanks for understanding.

Quaestrix, I am jealous. Between being only in the path for a partial eclipse and having the day be overcast, I saw nothing.

Parvati, I am very sorry to hear that. I wish you and your family the best.

Also, I know its ironic that I vanish for almost two weeks right after I try to check on who is still active. I got swamped with work. I'm back for the moment though.

I'm in the final stages of packing and getting ready to move. I won't have any Internet access from Tuesday night through Friday- although I might get a bit here and there. Hopefully all should be back to normal on Saturday. Please feel free to move my character out of the way.

quote:
"Esne paratus est?"

I think this means "are you prepared," but there are a couple issues. First, if it's addressing Quaestrix, it's using the wrong gender. I also don't think you need both "esne" and "est". A better way to phrase this might have been "Esne parata?" or "Paratane es?"

Either way, there are a couple ways to translate such a sentence. One is with "parata" as an adjective, i.e. "are you prepared?"; the other is to translate it as a verb, in which case it would be perfect passive indicative, i.e. "have you been prepared?". I'd be inclined to interpret it as the first, but either way works.

Heh, that's what I get for trying to do Latin after not practicing for about a decade. Yes, I was going for "Are you ready?"

I wish I could say it was intentional and that I knew what I was doing. I still remember just enough words and phrases to make myself look stupid at times ;-)

I'm sorry about the long delay between posts. We lost an associate at my firm and it has kept things busy to put it mildly. I am doing my best to catch up.

It's fine; I've had a bit of stuff to do lately as well. I finally got a job! Next step, saving up enough to move myself and my cat out of my dad's basement.

Good to see this game getting some posts again.

I know most of the delays have been my fault, but I would like to keep the game moving, so if Quaestrix does not post tomorrow I will take the liberty of putting a few words in her mouth. Hopefully she won't mind.

This is a quick interest check. If there is still interest, then I will have Parvati removed in a way that we can bring her back easily if she returns and perhaps recruit another player. If there is little or no interest, we can consider this concluded and I'll look at trying again later.

Whoa! Not Parvati. We're waiting for Quaestrix to explain what the statues said so we can do something.

I'm still interested in playing.
