Re: [OOC] Out of Character
I don't, really, but I get the impression Putin is working on bringing it back.  Making Russia great again, as it were.  It's sad.  When Gorbachev and Reagan started talking, I was pretty excited.  When Clinton and Yeltsin continued working things out, I was glad.  But when Trump and Putin get along, I'm terrified.

quote:
his friend looked irritated when he opened the door and an older German couple that were visiting still looked very startled and upset.

Too soon.  But as someone who totally didn't live through any part of that, I can see how it would strike someone who didn't live through any of that as funny.

I'm... not sure.  Have the fish also been here all week?

Putin is scary and power hunger and Trump is unpredictable.

Re: [OOC] Out of Character
I remember Reagan and Gorbachov during those times, and I was cautiously optimistic. Despite the fact that Gorbachev was Premier of the Soviet Union, he seemed like a likeable guy - one you could have a beer with if the mood struck him. I remember hearing in a documentary (I can't remember where) was that he had a possible plan to remove all of the nukes from both arsenals completely ... I wish that Reagan and the US had of said "yes" to that idea.  I know some hard-liners on both sides would have done their best to scuttle the idea, but it was the closest we've ever come in the modern age to have no nukes. Period.)

Clinton and Yeltsin, I swear must've been almost drinking buddies, because they did seem to like each other and I could almost see the two of them getting together and 'talking shop' over some whiskey and vodka. Yeltsin was a powerful figure after the fall of the Soviet Union, but man ... could he pack away the vodka. Drink this old man under the table easily, most likely.

'45' (as I prefer to call the President - I prefer not to speak the devil's name) and Putin are nothing more than image pieces, carefully crafted to make them look good at all costs. And heaven help those who cross or disagree with either of them. Putin was an ex - KGB Colonel in East Germany, so yeah, he is more than a little scary. (I watched some footage of he and Chancellor Merkel at a summit - Putin still speaks fluent German, it appears.)

In reply to Artemis P. Fox, Esq. (msg # 298):

Neither of us could have gotten rid of pour nukes unfortunately as other people had them, like the Chinese.

If you have to ask, you're not gonna like the answer. ;)

Sorry, week's been busy. I'm hoping to catch up today, but it might be tomorrow (and depends in part on my PMs, which I haven't had a chance to look over yet).

Just dropping a note to let you know I am here! RL got me down. I'm hoping to post this weekend, if anyone has further follow-ups...

Re: [OOC] Out of Character
I died, unfortunately.

Actually, I haven't posted 'cause I was hoping others might. I'm glad to see you two are still around, and I know that Patience is (sorta), albeit AFK (RL issues, IIRC... I'm in another game with her and she mentioned something a while back, I just have a terrible memory).

Re: [OOC] Out of Character
I'm here, just recovering from a rather hectic Turkey day (I'm not good with crowds, and going to a family gathering simply drains me)  I'd checked in the last couple of days, but say nothing, and wondered if the game had died while I was away. So I didn't post.

For some dumb reason, I can't post on my phone - otherwise, I might have said something while I was taking a breath over turkey dinner. So I have to ask - are we still on?

Let's see who else is here, then I can make that determination.

Everyone who hasn't checked if, if you'd be so kind?

Re: [OOC] Out of Character
I think I'm going to put the game on hold for the moment, to be picked up in the (near?) future. Going to send PMs to people, etc, and hopefully ... next week?

Fair enough, at least you're letting us know ahead of time, instead of the 'sudden stop' I've seen a lot of games come to.

Re: [OOC] Out of Character
I'm really, really sorry.  Having a bad combination of RL and computer issues and neither of them are being nearly as temporary as they should be. grumble

But I am still alive and here... ish.
