Background
William St. John wasn't much of a fan of heroes, and even less of a fan of mysticism, as he viewed the world through the scientific filter of natural law. Alas, this stoic adherence to pragmatism did not help him regarding a cursed pair of arcane gauntlets that became fused to his hands and forearms, transforming his body into a lumbering mound of muscle. Losing his job, his marriage, his daughter and anything else that might have remotely been considered 'normal'...had it not been for the timely intervention of Nythaniel Hawthorne, a fellow teacher and friend at Paragon University, he would have willfully lost his life as well. After Nythaniel helped him see what good he could accomplish, along with a promise to help find a way to remove the gauntlets, William now works with Hero Corps doing what he can until the day when he can remove what he calls 'over-sized oven mitts'. William is almost as broad as he is tall, standing over 8 feet tall and weighting nearly a full metric ton. Most common everyday items and equipment need specially made as he has been known to accidentally push doors off their hinges and cause suspensions to drag on most conventional vehicles. Despite his astounding physique, William is not a skilled combatant...however, with what power the gauntlets provide - tactics are seldom considered. Because of the raw power he has available literally at his fingertips, he tries to take the most expedient method to resolve a problem. Even though he has a tendency to hold back when others are involved, William is not above causing a little property damage in order to take down a more destructive problem. William is also profoundly dogmatic, even when it seems he's bested, he can somehow muster the wherewithal to carry on. It is believed that his ability to endure and persevere is another trait enabled by the gauntlets, William just claims it part of his Irish heritage and leaves it at that. When not spending time researching clues regarding what is now known as the Celestial Gauntlets or doing whatever menial task Hero Corps deems necessary for him to get involved with, William spends time riding the countryside on his 'motor-scooter' with industrial grade suspension and, on occasion, can be seen wistfully looking at a picture of his daughter that he keeps with him at all times.
