"The Mole & The Mystic"

Epilogue - Aftershock

Doom Pool: 2D6

Scene Distinctions (D8/D4 +1PP)

That's A Big Hole
Hectic and Confused Citizenry
Traffic Jam From Hell

As the heroes finally make their way to the surface, they find out soon enough a sinkhole caused by the internal collapse of part of the sewer network due to the mystically altered Hydra opened up...taking an entire intersection and part of an office complex with it.

A -LOT- of cleanup will be required and an all points bulletin is being issued for any heroes available to help with the disaster. Even so, all heroes present during the incident know full well that it could have been a lot worse...a whole lot worse. For starters, the Hydra could've gotten out...now that it's got so much debris piled upon it, the likelihood of it escaping (though "possible") is fractional at best.

Repairs on the Kings Row sewer network, including rebuilding the Abandon Sewer Network Hazard Gate, will be a long drawn out process even in a City of Heroes. Kings Row, however, is famous for its 'less than sterling' utilities...so complaints about backed up toilets will be only slightly more common.

Detective Martinez wants answers..."What the HELL happened down there?!?" She's asking Crimson Fury almost directly, she's definitely lost her cool...

This is the start of a transition scene. All stress is recovered and any trauma steps back by one. Trauma reduced below D6 is considered no longer debilitating and removed entirely. All players arriving from the sewers also gain 1 XP for surviving the ordeal. Game on!

Roulette was glad that the Detective was firing those questions at Crimson, because her own memory of events were still racing and a little confused*.

"I'mma gunna ...", she looked around at the confusion for a moment, then realised what she could be doing to help, "head to higher ground", pointing up to the top of a nearby building, "and get a better view of the proverbial big picture.   My training with the Hellions included scoping large scenes to look for potential threats to operations and maneuvers".

With that, she headed over to a nearby fire escape ladder, and headed for the roof.

There, she hoped to get a better understanding of what the city and its nearby residents needed best ... be it attention to the wounded, crumbling buildings shored up, or whatnot.

She was still in communication with her Team, but even from on high, spotting any threats among Traffic Jam from Hell and the Hectic and Confused Citizenry** was going to be difficult.

* ... and this player will need to go back and do a read of those threads, to remember this stuff.
** second use of a Distinction only for narrative purposes.

As well as putting Roulette in a good position to see such threats, it also meant that she was outside the Detectives field of question fire for the moment.

Action:  create 'See the Bigger Picture' asset
d10 Team
d4   Traffic Jam from Hell Distinction  (gain 1PP)
d8   Covert Specialty (to 'spot any threats/problems'  among  'Hectic and Confused Citizenry' down there)

- rolled rolled 2,1,3 using d10,d4,d8 ((2,1,3)).       Well, bugger eh.
Total: 5
Effect: d4
Opps: 1    (gain 1PP)

Current PP: 3

Add 1XP: Each time you talk about your training and actions within the Hellions.

As this is a Transition Scene, please, can we spend XP?
If so, I'd please like to purchase:
1xp:   an additional starting PP at the beginning of each Act in this Story Arc.
which will modify  'Current PP: 3'  to  4?

In reply to Mender Phantasm (msg # 1):

Mark arrives at the surface, looking around. He was amazed they all made it out. He really thought they would all be buried alive. While out of physical peril, the stress of what just happened started to hit him. He was good in the moment of danger, but the PTSD of what occured was just now taking its toll. Much like his time in the army. As horrible as combat had been, the things he saw never really went away...even in peacetime. Like almost all soldiers who had come back from that war...if not all wars.

"It...ah...was...er...bad." He managed to get out, not even looking at Martinez. He remembered the others who had gotten stuck down there, consumed by the hydra. They had gone down there to make peace with them-and instead they only knew the peace of the grave. Assuming there was any peace to be found...

OOC-I would also like to spend a bunch of XP I have been hording.

Daniel dusting himself off as he walks up to Paragon "Hey what's the next move?" he asks as he looks up to Roulette flying up. Though he looks a little worse than wear he doesn't seem fazed by the event in the slightest. A few seconds later and Daniel is now scanning the area almost as if he had just remembered that there was a catastrophe going on "Anyone else need saving or big rocks moved?"

Detective Martinez just gives Daniel a blank stare as a gurney is wheeled by with a blonde heroine strapped to it groaning "...I don't wanna go to the prom...I wanna go exploring!..." The last time Roulette saw this fledgling member of Hero Corps, she got flattened by a double-decker bus-sized slab of concrete.

Detective Martinez blinks and sighs, rubbing the side of her temples she asks to no one in particular, "Tell me you got the perp...did you at least get the Mole?"

...Maxwell Tillerman, The Mole, is not present.
