Update

In reply to Grimsby H. Baskerville (msg # 161):

The Facility I work at is a designated National Wildlife Reserve (Done for Tax purposes, I believe). I routinely see the young male Black Bear who lives on site; me and Bubba are good friends, he often saunters past my guard shack with an attitude - "Yeah, it's me. Deal."

There's also a pair of Florida Panthers (not sure if they are mated, or even related), but they run whenever they see a car (like my Patrol Jeep). I occasionally see anywhere from 1 to 5 of the small Whitetail Deer we have down here in Florida. In spring, summer and fall we have a couple of rafters of wild Turkeys running around (don't know where they go in the winter). And there are always Grey Foxes running all over the place.

And since the facility is a NWR, I can't even chase off the Buzzards! They are a breed of Turkey Buzzard that are on an "Ecological Concern" list, so I can't "risk traumatizing them" by chasing them away from the garbage bins! And, of course, the County Mosquito Control airplanes divert around us, so we don't get sprayed for Mosquitos, like everyone else in the County!  There are nights when it feels like I'm being eaten alive!

We have buzzard here too. When a deer is hit on the road, it is like a convention. I have seen like 10 to 12 at one time.

Tomorrow I leave for Britain. I will be doing research there until March 21. From past experience at my B&B, I expect to be able to access RPOL, but probably not until late Sunday.

Update

In reply to Joseph Rudyard Hunnisett (msg # 162):

The only varieties of your creatures we have in this area that I have personally seen are the wild turkeys and deer, of which we have many, appearing quite boldly in town. A black bear was
reported in the street up the hill from ours, but I have not seen it.

"cat soup"

Congratulations, Sir, you have stumped Google.

The only result I get from Google on a search for "cat soup" is a discourse on an experimental, quite psychotropic Japanese Anime.  Knowing your feelings about Anime, I do not believe that this is what you meant.

WHAT THE FRACK IS "CAT SOUP"???!!!

Was the Killer Kitten from Hell chewing on your hand while you were typing?  Bad Kitten! Where's my gun...?

Cat Soup

How odd. Yes, even going ten pages deep in the Google search didn't turn up a link.

As opposed to soup made from cats (as in China and the Orient) or soup made for cats (chicken and green beans), this is a Spanish dish I got from a Spanish cuisine entry in Wikipedia, and it does show up under the Spanish name sopa de gato as a link to a Wikipedia entry.

Classic cuisine of southern Spain, made with water, olive oil, stale bread, garlic, salt and pepper. Created in 16th century Cadiz during the pirate siege to stave off hunger. Modern versions can have cheese or beaten eggs added.

As far as Grimsby is concerned, it is time to move on, unless someone else has something to do first.

Cat Soup

I notice the conversation between the bandit and Joseph does not appear in the version of the posts I can see. Is the assumption that none of the other players understands Spanish, so anything in that language is simply hidden?

Language Groups

Joseph was using the Language Group, so it should have showed up as gibberish to anyone who didn't speak Espanol, but is still should have been visible. I can't figure out why it wouldn't have shown up for Grimsby albeit as gibberish.

My problem as the GM is that I see EVERYTHING, so I can't always tell what's showing up and what isn't.

Okay. Figured it out. I've been using the Private to Group for languages. I've never actually seen the Language option before. I'm wondering if that's a new modification to the site?

In reply to GM SteamRoller (msg # 174):

I've been seeing it for years, Old Man!  I just never had occasions, before, to ever make use of it.

Note that Joseph also speaks French with an outrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrageous accent, and if you do not add Language Group French I may have to taunt you a second time!
