Which made me notice most of the newer pictures have no tags whatsoever. Would you like help with that? I'm just obsessive enough to sort through twelve thousand pictures and tag them all.

If anyone else would like to volunteer to help with the portrait tagging, rmail me.  :-)

I work at it on occasion. I actually tagged a few in the last update. ^:-)

I've tagged about 300 so far. All women. I don't play men so they can rot for all I care. =P

I think that since the last update I'm having a problem with avatars. Instead of the usual pics, I'm getting a horrible red picture of missing image. Windows 7, Opera. Tried on two different computers, both experiencing the same problem. Strangely enough, I cannot even see the images in the gallery (only blank squares).

This is most likely an issue with one of the links in the chain that connects you to the galleries (which are not stored on the same server as RPoL), and is beyond our control.

Hopefully a helpful hint - if you navigate to the FAQs and click on the RPoL Information link, the second last line will tell you whether RPoL can see the two portrait servers - if RPoL can, and you're still getting the red placeholder, then as BBR says, it's a problem with the link from your end.  :>

Thank you. According to what you're saying, Skald, Portrait Server 1. is offline (at least that's the message I get from the FAQ).

Btw, I tried Rpol on Chrome (still Win7), but I had no success there.

Your link to RPoL has no bearing on whether or not you can connect to the portrait servers, as the portraits are at servers in two separate locations, not at RPoL.  So accesssing RPoL with different browsers will have no effect.

I currently see both servers reported as being online.

Which portraits are you not able to see - male, female, or neutral?  Or all of them?

Possibly I'm wrong about the links then - maybe it's your path that's being checked, not the path from the RPoL server (it's your path that will be used to display on your screen, after all, as we link directly to the portrait server - they're not hosted at RPoL).  Happy to stand corrected.  :>  Though for the record, both are online for me too.

Now this is odd. I tried accessing Rpol via different network and all portraits were there. Then I switched back to my usual network and, well, some of them (those I looked at using the other connection) were still there, while others were still unavailable.

It appears to be a problem with my usual Internet provider (I suspect Parental Control that came pre-installed with the router and that I haven't been bothered to disable so far). I can deal with it in one way or another. Thanks for your help. Case closed.

I had that issue the first month or so I was on RPoL, from my work computer. A dozen or so pics were visible, the rest, not. And even that changed from login to login! From my tablet, a library computer, or my friend's computers, everything was there.

No idea why, though, but after a month it cleared up and since all images are visible.

I've had similar experiences with Windows 7 computers, and I'm fairly certain there's something about them that has an issue with the portraits, for whatever reason. I don't think I've ever actually gotten a look at the male portraits from my PC.

In any case, I've noticed that the portraits have no qualms about showing themselves on any mobile device, or when I use a proxy server. Having no real knowledge or problem, I am content to blame my computer for the error and leave it at that..... though some with higher knowledge of such things may argue to the contrary, perhaps.

I have some trouble identifying ethnicity so while I am tagging portraits I sometimes enlist help from associates. I noticed that there's two distinct portrait servers, and when I share direct links from one of them they can't be seen. Could be related?!

At least the male portraits are set up to disallow hotlinking anywhere except RPoL and a few selected sites.

So long as you're accessing RPoL from one of the regular addresses, that should not be an issue.

Okay maybe not related then. *Shakes fist at server settings even while acknowledging that said settings are in place for very good reasons*

Not sure if it will work exactly as you need it, but might give it a try.

Alternatively, Skype screen share works just fine. That is what I use now. Thanks for the tool though! I'm sure it'll be useful for something.

All additions are at the ends of the gallery.

A reminder - if possible, please make sure your submission is at least 100 x 100 pixels, and not smaller in length or width.

If I receive a picture that is too small to make a good 100 x 100 crop, I do use Google images to TRY to find a bigger picture to use for the crop, but that doesn't always work.

In that case, sorry I resubmitted the picture I submitted on the last cycle. It's the same image in both submissions. I just misread the date on the update.
