Resurrecting a game

Hello RPoL people:

I have a question. I have deleted a game, but later decided to resurrect it. I have set it up to "request players", but the game does not show up in the "Wanting Players" listing.

Anyone seen this before? Is this a bug? Do I need to contact the admins for help? Is there an update schedule that needs to happen?

Any help would be appreciated.

That's odd. Does it have Game Info filled in? A game tends to want that before letting you advertise it. Also, maybe it just needs a minute for the newly resurrected settings to fall into place and pop up as good to go.

Yes, it does have game info. It has a RTJ, intro, and three threads in the game itself.

I would find that odd as well. Hence, my question. =)

Resurrecting a game

Had you listed it in Wanted: Players before?  The old ad may still be buried a few pages down on the list and just needs to be bumped.  I'm not sure, but I think the site doesn't create a new ad if one already exists...and probably doesn't automatically bump an ad if you un-delete the game as that could create a loophole for the one-week bump limit.  How long did you have the game deleted before deciding to revive it?  (If it was only a few days, the ad may be tied up with the once-a-week bump limit...)

The site does not create the ad, whether a previous ad exists or not.  And no, it doesn't bump an existing ad automatically.

Both of those require the GM to post in Wanted - Players.

So, since I can't find any posts by MrKinister in W-P, that's the next question - are you sure that you posted an ad?

If so, roughly how long ago?

Interesting mechanics.

The whole "delete then resurrect" was less than 24 hours.

When I first created the game, when I set up the RTJ and game description, and then I set the game board's "Requesting New Players" to "ON". I was able to find it in the "Wanted - Players" listing only doing that. Then I deleted it, and the next day restored it. After restoring it, the "Requesting New Players" setting was turned off. I thought that made sense. So, I turned it back on again. However, this time, the game is not listed under the "Wanted - Players" listing. Since this was automated, I thought it odd.

Might this be a bug?

with out being   as familiar with the mechanics...maybe it was because it was deleted  and restored... did you search for you own game?

I just did a search, just using 'MrKinister'..i found a  game that had players wanted..and MP  by the title.

There also might be the 'whole 7 day thing"..because it was  up and then deleted  and broughtback...it might not show up until 7 days since last you  posted  in WP  thread?

Interesting. So it appears that the ad is removed, but not recreated when a game is deleted and restored.

Indeed, I found my game after doing a standard game search. But I didn't find it in the ads forum.

Learned something new today.

Thanks everyone.

In reply to donsr (msg # 9):

Yes. I had to recreate the "ad" for the game. It is all working now and I have a full complement of players.

Thanks. =)
