Ahhh, that is uncalled for dude, it was a legitimate question. Every GM has their own way of deciding starting money and hp. He said use the book, I did when he told me too. Many give you max for both, this one said to roll, I did. Please, mind your own business.

Clay is still blinking with shock at the strangeness of suddenly finding his childhood friends again.  He said as much.  "Sorry Max, not a clue.  I'm still pinching myself to see if I wake up.  Five weeks ago, I thought you lot were gone forever along with my parents."

There's some misunderstanding here. You've grown up in candlekeep along with the rest. It's the starting point of the crpg we're emulating.

Forgot to mention a few things. Your exploration speed is based on the slowest of you and by your sheets I think that's Max and Niall at 60'/turn. The map is based on 5' grid since I ripped it off a modern source. A torch has a range of 30'.

You can post general talk or descriptions of something however often you like but I'll be keeping an eye out for everyones actionable posts before moving on to the next chunk. If you do something that takes a lot of time I may tick several turns at once.

Hmm, im just pondering if we could use oil to ignite a fire leading inside the hole, then it hits the rat feces, and that serves as burn material. The rats either die in the fire, run away, or if they come out, we dispatch them as they emerge. I definitely don’t want to creep around that hole.

ABILITY          SCORE BONUS AFFECTS
   Strength         14    +1    Melee atk/damage (melee, thrown), Open Doors: 3 in 6
Intelligence     11    +0    Languages, Native, Literacy
Wisdom           13    +1    Save vs. Magic
Dexterity        12    +0    Missile atk, AC, Initiative
   Constitution     12    +0    Hit Points

While she's indeed the Mage from Carcass Crawler, and basically a Thief with select spells instead of Thieves' Skills and hasn't got the "oomph" of a Magic-User or even an Illusionist, if the wand will benefit one of them over her, then so be it.  Enigma is plenty happy being a walking, intermittently-functioning magic item for now!

I posted the timekeeping table in the IC thred before. To me it's a super helpful structure for the procedural side of things but I'll bring it back behind the GM screen next time. Main reason to keep it upfront was so you could make concious choices regarding how long your actions take and so on and to show you I'm not just making shit up. But I can just as well ask you "it's gonna take 3 turns, is that all right?"

Any comments on that?

If this new board is like the old board, I think you removed Benedict from the game when you moved his character to NPC. As DM, you can NPC characters by just posting using their PC. You can NPC any character you wish that way. But when you made him NPC, I think you accidently took him out. He'll have to go rtj again to add him back. Not a big deal, but you'll have to tell him maybe.

Now I’m even more wondering why the assassins were down there. So they were able to infiltrate into the Keep, went into the tavern, into the basement, broke through the wall, just to have a place to hide? Why not just hide outside the walls, and cut down on the chance of being discovered as they were by our characters? Do we know where the sewer empties out? Into the ocean or into a river?

I enjoyed discovering the hole in the wall, checking out the sewer. If anything, I’d maybe suggest less back to back combat, a bit more exploration or problem solving, and maybe more gold/treasure as that’s the biggest chunk of experience in OSE. 21 experience when a character needs, say 2k-2.5k for a level, in a month real time means progression is going to be very long.

Two combats left our group needing a day or two of rest given the system is tough in the healing department. And with 0 HP being dead, no saves or anything, sitting on 2HP as Max was is deadly easily. If we’re playing more a ‘character carousel’ where new characters easily come and go it’s not really an issue, but the game seems to be fairly plot heavy on us being related in fostering. If party members drop often, it will loose that initial theme. I’m ok with that, just something I thought I’d mention.

Maximum HP at 1st level is always a good idea. I was fortunate to roll 5 on a d6, but obviously not everyone was that lucky. You're always one hit away from instant death at 1st level, to have a chance of surviving that is obviously very useful.

Other than that I'll agree with what Malus said.

I hear you but the identity of the game is still very much in the air. My initial idea has been to be true to the prepped material which I won't just hand to you unless you go out and find it. Since you didn't explore much of the sewer you didn't get away with much either. Stick to it and I won't be stingy.

Regarding character carousel - that's up to you. If you die you can immediately roll up a new character and we'll insert it into the narrative. If you build up a retinue you may choose from that roster as well.

I will do my best to reward any out of the box ideas you have while exploring.

I always give max hp per level no matter what version of the rules I am running, always have going all the way back to the late 70s just to make it a little easier to survive. I got lucky and rolled an 8 on my hit points.

I am enjoying it. Looking forward to a little bit of roleplaying as well, and I think we should hire a cleric, one that can cast.

All right, new thread is up.

If you look on the main game map you can see the game area. It's in hexes and I'll use a hex travelling procedure if you leave the roads, otherwise we're doing a point crawl. This will all be behind the scenes but just so you know.

There's plenty of procedures goin around. I think the one for wilderness exploring in the OSE books is a little too rough so I like to divide the day into 4 watches (hour 1-6, 7-12, 13-18 and 19-24). You have to rest 1 watch per day or be fatigued.

Since we don't know each other very well I can't judge if this talk of Waterdeep is IC blabber for flavour or if you're serious. I'll get a little meta here. If you go to Waterdeep... well, I won't force you to interact with what happens right now on the sword coast of course but you'll write that character right out of the game. If that's the case you're welcome to create a new character that has better motivations to dig where you stand, so to speak.

I also would appreciate help to keep the party gathered, in the larger sense (splitting up while exploring and such is of course fine). I'm not running a multi-party game, I honestly don't have that kind of time.

So, where do you go and by what path? I mucked up your travelling speeds before so they're updated now and you move by the slowest party member = 12 miles/day. If you leave the road there's a risk you get lost. Hexes on the map are 24 miles, for reference, even if you're not exactly certain IC.

I've updated the traveling thread with procedures for traveling if you're interested. I'll handle it all behind the scenes but remember, the more specific instructions you give me regarding your actions the better i can interpret your intentions.

Regarding loot: What's on your sheets is what you have with you. I'm noting loot in the journal for experience purposes, nothing else. If you want to keep things, note them on your sheet and update your encumbrance. When you leave the scene, I assume you leave any stuff you haven't written on your sheets behind.

Max, you asked about a Treasury thread and I referred you to the Journal - Would you like me to set up a Treasury/Inventory thread as well to keep track of who is carrying what, encumbrance and so on? Rather than everyone doing it individually on their sheets?

Since this is the first time I'm saying this, go ahead and note what you keep from what you got in Candlekeep.
