I nod, and take the seat offered. My apologies, Mary.   Even after all these years I still have a lot to learn about manners.   Christian Fisher, from Boston originally recently of Houston. I will not bore you with lineage. I am attorney by trade.

"I remember you.  I have heard of your Sire, he is well respected, if a bit ruthless.  How is lawrence treating you?  knowing his brood, I am sure you were welcomed with open arms, especially by Malcolm."

She takes a sip from her wineglass, and you can smell the blood.  Funny how some Kindred seem to grasp on tradition so entwined with thier mortal lives, while other cast off the remnants of their humanity so casually.

Yes Malcolm had a welcome for me all right, what is his deal.   Anyway, I require a favor from you Mary, information on one of our kind that might has a certain knowledge.    I also need this to be discreet, and I think that will cost me? So let me know the price

"Direct and to the point."
She looks at Christian, her expression unreadable.  "This is where you expect me to say "I like that" but I don't.  I'm to old to be in a hurry, Christian.  I was made when my body was already old and failing.  Unlife has not made it any better.  I like to be flattered and flirted with.  You are supposed to offer me some some juicy anecdote about what you have seen, a little glimpse into the secret lives of the Ventrue, with promises of, more to come, should we move on with our relationship...  I, in turn, would give you information that you would need, thought not what you would expect.  Rumors and tidbits about the others, that you could lock away and use one day, and would also prove my worth to you.
Then we would discuss the real reason you are here.  Just coming up and blurting it out is fucking boring."

With much apologies my dear Mary, for being blunt and dull. Lawrence is so focused on solving who did this, that he has my head spinning.   I am so sorry, the ironic part is I left Houston because it was boring the same old routine, played over and over. Like a song on a broken record. Nothing ever changes does it?
I do know two things that might alleviate my rudeness. One, what I have to show will not be boring and two I will owe you, as Jack is my witness a boon.   Including all that has transpired tonight with Meeks. What will make amends for me upsetting you, lovely lady?
. I take her hand to kiss it.

OOC:  is this a charisma or manipulation roll to smooth things over with Mary?

She looks at you, eyeing you up and down.  "I'll not accept your offer of a boon, It is my place to know who can do what here in New Orleans.  I only ask that you tell me what you offer to the city, that I can help you get connected to others who may be seeking your specific skills. It is how we function here.  I know you are new and I doubt Houston was as complex, but here I am simply a servant, ensuring that the city functions when it needs to.  I can make sure word gets around, when you need word to get around.  I can make sure you meet with who needs meeting with.  I will make sure secrets that need to be kept are kept.  But I will give you piece of advice.  I do not like to be lied to.  Give me false information for the clans, or go back on a pact, and I will make sure your reputation here is ruined.  Be of value, and I will make sure all know about it.  The way to prestige in New Orleans lies through me."
She looks at Jack who somehow knows she is looking.  He gets up and says, "I think it's time for my solo".  He take up his trumpet and walks to the stage, the band there calling him over.  He must know the place well to get around it so easily.

This is definitely not Houston, I am glad you are here to be the gatekeeper.     I gave information that must stay between me and you.    what I bring to this city, hmm  I do have vast knowledge of the law, in Houston I was a liason with the kine.   Right now, I am helping with finding a killer.   Watch this video and any guidance on who in this city might know what that Tattoo means or who might own it, we need to keep this video between us.

I show her the video.

In reply to Christian Fisher (msg # 16):

A jazzy tune comes form the stage where JAck is blowing on his horn, and the band soon start to join him.  The song is slow, and mournful, not something like you would expect to hear in this place.  The crowd doesn't seem to mind much and the dancers take it as a sign to take a rest and gather their tributes.  Mary Smiles, and say to Christian "That is very interesting about Archibald.  Do you know who the girl is?  I would suggest that you take her to Olivia or LAwrence.  They could take the memories away from from her, it they disturb her that much.  But Assume you have already approached them.  There are some skilled kine doctors, that could help, but mortal medicine lies beyond my knowledge.  If you just need her gone, Dalia can help.  She has a soft spot for young one who have been abandoned or hurt."  As she says the last bit, her tone changes slightly, and her hand almost goes up to the scarf at her neck, thought she catches herself.

"I would be interested in what meeks did with the wight if you happen to come across that.  These kinds of things are dangerous and can be a threat to us all if not handled correctly.  aRchibald has a soft spot for his kind.  He may not be willing to do what is needed."

"As for you man, you should see Nick.  He is on of my clan, and has a shop nearby.  He is into this drawing on the skin that all the kids seem to enjoy these days.  He doesn't do such crass work, btu if anyone would know the source, he would."

Christian holds her hands in his, He smiles though awkward it is a charming in a certain way. That information is exactly why I came to you, thank you so much!  Yes my lovely Mary, I do know the girl.   Lawrence does not know about her, and I would like to keep it that way.   She is a kidnapping victim, and we are taking one night at time.   I hope to return her to her parents, maybe Dahlia might be able to help.   She is actually a very pretty lady.   Meeks told me he is going to bring the accused before the other primogen, whether he does or does not, I could not tell.  I do not know him well enough to make a educated guess. I'd appreciate it if this conversation stayed between us.   oh my that music takes me back, hmmm,  the sound the smoothness..  it is electrifying.     Sorry, Mary sometimes the simple pleasures are unfortunately few and far between these nights.     I know your job does not require favors, but know this if there is anything within my power to help you, just let me know.  Do you mind if I sit here for a second and enjoy the company and the music?

He sits back and listens to the trumpet, swaying his head.

I used to fly airplanes, but this condition makes it harder to fly.   I have an old bi plane back in a hanger in Houston, I might have it brought down.   Ever flown Mary?

"Yes Airplanes are dreadful thing.  Locked in a box for hours with a bunch of Kine that you can't eat.  The smell of them around you, their blood beating strong.  It's maddening.  I took flight to France many years ago to see what the place looked like these days.  I was told it is much better than boat voyages.  You don't have to make excuses why you spend you day in the cabin, and the flights are shorter, meaning no need to find anyone alone on a crowed ship, a task in itself.  I should have known better.  I will never get on another plane if I can help it."
One of the waitresses bring her over a bowl of grapes and a saucer.  She takes one, and puts it in her mouth.  She chews for a few mins and then spits out the chewed wreckage into the saucer.
"Christian, you called my Marie when you first came.  I have not gone by that name since I left France.  If I may ask, when were you turned?"

"Nah, never had a solo album..  I did play with a lot of bands though.  I had a colab, they call it these days where I played keyd and the horn.  It was a collection with different people called the Olsen Crew.  It didn't sell well.  There was this other horn player out there...  You might have heard of him.  A Mr. Armstrong.  He kinda took all the limelight.  Don;t get me wrong, he deserved it, but at the time there wasn't much room for any but him.  Guess I was born at the wrong time."

Dalia comes out into the main room form the back, and see Christian sitting at the table with Mary and Jack.  "Christian, so we meet again.  At least the company you are keeping is more respectable" she says, though her voice is pure and clean compared to Mary's the closeness of her introduction is ironic.  "I am sorry to have to cut your conversation short, But I need to steal away tou table partners.  Clan business.  I hope you don;t mind."
"Mother, Jack, please meet me in the princess room, the rest of the clan shall be here soon"

Christian noticed that Dlaia has changed clothes since he last saw her.  She is wearing an expensive dark blue dress, with a low cut front edged with lace.  Just enough to hide to make the cut of the dress less scandalous.  A long slit on the side reveals most of her leg when she moves a certain way, which is entirely on purpose.  Her hair is perfectly styled in an some type of elaborate up-do.  Her make up is perfect, leaving no hint of any unnatural pallor.  She now looks like she would fit right in with the high class patrons here.

Christian nods courteously.   Kissing Mary's hand, he looks her in the eye and say.  I am sorry my sweet madame Mary, but our time is cut short. I will continue our conversation some other time.   Jack the pleasure was mine, thank you for that performance.   Ahh Katherine good to see you again, though your clothing choice is interesting.
