Further north on the western coast washed by a cold sea-current, Kernomd is the chief port of the sea-reavers, Barbarian allies of Nezrak who have taken to the sea to raid the peoples of the Free Isles.
its beaches are crowded with their sleek slender sea-steeds, single-sailed vessels which can also be worked by oars when the wind fails; they are smaller than the great ships of Vazaz, but just as deadly.
On land there are pens for the slaves and cattle taken in their raids, and sturdy log houses for the reavers and their kin. The halls of the greater chiefs have door-posts carven with their hard-faced gods and strange distorted beasts. Beyond these halls there is a great moot-hall where the reavers gather in their council, the sea-thing, and higher up the ridge beyond the town there are temples to their cruel gods and goddesses, carven with dark runes and stained with blood from sacrifices.  Vod's temple has racks filled with the skulls of slain foes before it, Tolvar's temple has a great dead but still mighty oak tree on which his victims are hanged, and Limmodh's has a huge basalt boulder that serves as an altar on which his victims are held while the blood-eagle is carved on their backs. The temples of Greyfa and Vizhla stand behind those of Tolvar and Limmodh respectively and are smaller than those of their consorts, but more elaborately carved. The town is surrounded by a tall palisade of logs; there is a gate flanked by two wooden towers beyond the temples, and the palisade curves from there around each side of the harbor, terminating in two more sturdy wooden towers, one at each end of the harbor. The gate is called the Gate of Tolvar, the tower at the north end of the harbor the Tower of Vod and the  tower at the south end the Tower of Limmodh.
