In the dark shadows of the looming circle of mountains a giant grim face carved in greenstone rises above two huge pillars of black basalt carved in the form of grinning demons, flanking a mighty iron gate. The gate stands open, and a dark acrid smoke constantly seeps out to rise into the cold thick air. Dragonkin guards in gleaming steel armor man guardhouses on each side of the gate, with their faithful dragon steeds coiled nearby. A monolithic granite altar stands before the gate, stained with the blood of innumerable sacrifices, whose bones are arranged in racks on either side. Anyone who enters the paved courtyard around the altar without the escort of a dragonrider is instantly challenged, "Who dares come unannounced to the Gate of  Yervaar, the Only God?" However, it is very rarely that anyone comes there unescorted, and none who have done so are known to have left alive.
