Re: V: Into the Catacombs

Taking one of the torches, Deniv moves back to the area where the floor had collapsed, and he had nearly fallen in behind it.
Once there, he begins to search around the area immediately on their current side of it.

Re: V: Into the Catacombs

As the debris pile is searched, the sounds of shifting sounds from above.  Could the orcs be trying to dig their way down?  It does appear that trying to remove too much here at the bottom will cause more debris to fall out of the chute.

Thinking on the shoot "What if more of the rubble falls out, do you think the shoot would become accessible?"

Re: V: Into the Catacombs

In reply to Einlian (msg # 199):

Standing there watching the efforts of Daniv then the sounds of movement and finally Einlians question, Lam  brightens up.

Daniv, you may be on to something but Orc, Goblin or whatever lays on the other side, we are stuck here and if we can clear the debris out of the chute and have a way out, well, looks around to the group, If we show a strong enough presence maybe we can negotiate our way out with out a fight.  BUT let's prepare.  MAybe less blood can be shed and us out of here.

Daniv keep digging, not so drastically to avoid any excess collapsing, Jory, Einlian  and Kerkrin, lend a hand.

Leozaren, Sal and Tath, help move the debris away as they dig it out.

Melisana, with your bows at the ready, if anything tries to attack us from above down the shut, well shoot at them.

Rebeccah Keep watch on the ceiling just n case you see a major collapse immanent to warn us while I'll stand back ready to intercept anything that gets down here.

Sound good, OK lets get at it.

Without as much as a peep, Sal starts moving debris.  Sure he wold like to get out with out hard labor, or a fight but a way out is after all a way out.
Making a statement, to no one in particular.

"I hope we can get out, before this island sinks!  We still need to find a boat, or raft!"

Deniv stops and steps away from the rubble.  If they are digging down from up there, I have no intention of helping them.
He moves to search other ares they had not searched before.

Turning to Melisana, OK, good thought let's not leave any stone un turned.  Some of you go search the pile of junk - maybe there is a way out, and Melisana and I will cover you in case more rats come out.   I need one to keep listening at the chute for progress of our foe above.   Now lets start looking and I am up for any other suggestions, even chceking he well out again.

(This is the North side of the bridge and the middle of the dungeon.)

After a short time, all the junk is pushed aside.  A bare wall stares back at the group.

With a shrug and a glance at the others, Daniv begins to search the wall and the floor and ceiling for anything that might trigger a secret door.

Sal with slight desperation frantically starts searching the wall, too.  Searching the corners, cracks, anything that might trigger or push or slide, or a breeze, possibly sunlight.
"Sunlight would be a welcome sight.  The warmth on my skin, a nice breeze from the ocean."

He says while searching.

Looking at the blank wall, turning left to that side of the area then right side , Lam eyes those areas to see if they missed an area besides this room.

This is the middle so maybe a way back up, Jory, Einlian look too.

Rebeccah fingers her bow nervously as she watches the cave in.  If all those orcs and goblins made it down here with them, there was no chance for survival.

Re: V: Into the Catacombs

As the noise from above gets louder, the search gets desperate. Something had to be here.  There was nowhere else to go.  Dani moves his hands across the wall until he brushes across a crack that was almost too small to feel.  His fingers trace the crack and discover a button.  Once pushed, there is a click and a portion of the wall pushes in to reveal a hidden passage.

In reply to Man in Black (msg # 215):

At first shocked they (Daniv) found something then quickly coming to his senses, Daniv Jory, quick check for traps and tell me where this secret passage goes then start to move if clear, we are about out of time. Turns to the rest of the group, OK, may have a way out, move in and get ready to go if Daniv and Jory find nothing and we can proceed.

As Lam pulls his bow out, Rebeccah, you and I will have to be last with our bows to cover the group if the Orcs/goblin break through before we can get out.  Sal, your help to possibly close this once we are through, even if just to hide in here til they pass further into the caves.

Looks to Daniv and Jory Daniv, Jory, if clear, keep going and check a little as you go but time is of the essence so no dilly dally. and grins

As he waits for Daniv and Jory, Einlian (if near enough) puts rocks and rubble back near where the Orcs et al are likely to get in.

With beads of sweat forming on his forehead.  Pressure of death from Orcs, rubble, cave in, island sinking, he just can't seem to escape.  Sal runs his hands around the door.  Checking for traps, and seeing how the door operates, so he is familiar with how to close it quickly.

Accidentally rolled a d20 first....then a natural 100!!  Never did that before in years on here!

Re: V: Into the Catacombs

The air in here is different.  It is more dank, more foul, but still breathable.  There are no indication of traps or anything having moved through here in a great while.  After closing the door, the group moves slowly through the long tunnel.  No traps are noticed or tripped.

Finally the tunnel opens up into a large room, around 80 to 90 square feet.  There are three large niches in the East wall.  It looks like there may be a fourth one that had been bricked up.  The first one is empty, but the other two are occupied.
