(Yes, given a little bit of time, he can tie some knots and have a somewhat reliable rope.  )

New Jory brings a chest into the hold to share with the others.

While the storm rages, Jory ties some knots and constructs a rope.
He gets the captain's log out of the chest and hides it under the studded leather armor, that he's wearing.
When the rope is finished, he carries it in loops 'diagonally': over one shoulder and across his chest.

A huge wave hits the other side of the ship, causing it to shudder.  Some of the sand holding up the ship draws away, and the ship tilts a little further towards the sea.

Jory is frightened by the shudder of the ship. He calls out: "We have to leave now! Grab what you can and get to the beach".
He grabs the things (broadsword, crossbow, remaining bolts, navigational charts, book) and jumps onto the beach himself and greets Gunnar: "Welcome, we're good folks. Do you come in peace? Will you help us?
Then, help the others get out of the ship!

Melisana doesn't need to be told.  She's already out on the beach suffering the cold rain.

Kerkrin waits on the wet sand.  If the cold, wet conditions bother him, he doesn't show it.  Just wordlessly grunts, muttering under his breath.  He stands as tall as he can, resolute in the face of adversity.

If he sees any needing assistance out of the boat, he moves quickly to their aid.

Gunnar enters the ship grabbing whatever looks salvageable as he tries to usher those still not moving and onto the beach."Get a move on this place is not safe as you can feel the waves are starting to take the wreck back out to sea. So unless you can survive underwater get whatever is of use and get on the beach. Chains, nails, sails, anything which we might be able to use later intact food or water barrels."

Gunnar grabs what appears to be the empty chest and tosses in anything else he see which might be of any use to him.

Looking quickly for chains, nails, wooden pegs, pieces of sail or other fabrics, any small storage containers whether items inside are good or not.

Rebeccah scurries out of the ship.  The splash of cold sea water on her feet makes her shiver as she walks on to the sand.  She was glad for the comfort of the cloak, but felt guilty while watching everyone else shiver in the rain.

Grasping the three bolts, Deniv curses under his breath.  Let's go, everyone!  Will have to find something on shore!
He heads out the hole in the hull and further ashore.

Tath grabbed up his section of chain along with what little canvas they had salvaged and head out onto the beach, "Was only a matter of time." Looking toward the cliffs and toward higher ground he scanned the area for any type of shelter.

Jory is glad that the others exited the ship of their own.
He asks: "I think the crossbow and the bolts are a powerful weapon, to be used well against enemies or as a hunting aid. So please don't burn them. But I ask: who would like to have the crossbow? Who can shoot it well? I'll fight with the broadsword."

Jory walks further toward the cliffs and tries to detect a cave or some covered corner where they can find shelter against the storm.

Deniv holds up the three crossbow bolts he had taken.  I'm going to use these to make knives for cutting, skinning, or whatever else we need.  The rest of the shaft can be use for whatever else.
He has the woolen cloak draped over his arm.  Maybe we can use that sailcloth that you recovered, the rope, and some wood to improvise shelter.  Maybe over by the cliffs so at least one wall is made for us.

The dwarf looks to the man with his arms full.  "I ken carry the bow." he says, walking towards the halfelf, his gait is a little rough.  "Doan know how well I ken shoot it 'til I try."

He looks to the listing ship.  "The boy be right.  We should make to move inland, that ship'll draw tha wrong kinda attention when when the storm clears."  He cocks and loads the weapon.  "And I ain't in the mood fer company."

Gunnar exits from the hold with his acquired gear and anything else he could find quickly.

"We should move away and inland, if anything remains after the storm we can reexamine what remains. Now it would b a death trap to remain for to long inside or here on the beach unprotected. We might consider taking the pirate who survived as a labor source to help build a structure or other manual labor we might find that needs to be done."

And how do we control him?  Deniv leave that hanging in the air, awaiting an answer.  He then tosses the key into the sand at Gunnar's.  If you want to free him, so be it.  But he is trained in combat, unlike any of us.  That would make us easy picking for him.  One at a time, several of us, does not matter.  He already killed my friend.  I say leave him to his fate.

Jory says, while still viewing the rocks or cliffs which border on the beach, to the others:
"I agree with Daniv. The pirate can't be saved, he must remain here. If we do well and have more than enough food in the coming days, and supposing he's still here on the beach, then we can feed him and keep him alive. Otherwise, he's just one more victim of the storm which marooned us here.
I'm going to give the crossbow to Kerkrin, as he seems to be able to handle it.
Kerkring, here's our gift to you, have it and use it wisely

As evil as that half-orc pirate was, she still felt guilty about leaving him to die.  Still, she couldn't find the words to try and change anyone's mind about it.  She rationalized it in her mind, telling herself that there was no way they could survive while dragging him along.  It still didn't make her feel any better about it.

Deniv turns to Rebeccah, holding the wet cloak out to her.  Here.  It's wet, but it's wool. It will keep you warm even wet.  He then walks ahead a little bit, as if lost in his own world.  She can see the scars striped across his back, some criss-crossing, as if he has been under the lash several times, but they are wide.  Some are still the angry pink of recent healing.
As he walks, he uses the head of a crossbow bolt to cut the remains of his shirt into strips.  One of the strips is used to tie two of the bolts together and sling them over his left shoulder, points down.  He then breaks the shaft of the third so that their is a bit more than the width of his hand attached to the broadhead.  The rest of the shaft gets wrapped loosely in strips, then tucked under his arm as he wraps a strip of cloth around his make-shift knife to give it some thickness for a better grip.  Wringing water from the cloth, he wrings it so it is tight around the shaft before tying it off.  Leather would work better, especially since it would shrink as it dries, but resources are limited.
He drops back, holding out the make-shift weapon to her.  Would you like one?  Incase you need to protect yourself?

Getting to the top of the cliffs is work, but not particularly dangerous.  There are just enough ledges sticking out that one can almost walk up the cliff.  At the top of the cliff, nearly the whole island is laid out in view.  The rain coming in thick across the island reduces visibility to a few hundred feet.  The highest and most forbidding hills are westward, running the entire length of the island from North to South.  Northward is broken terrain, passable but not easy going, while eastward the terrain seems to flatten out a little bit. However, since it's still hilly and broken even in that direction, nobody can see any sign of shelter or a human community in any direction.

There's not much green to be seen, except for some common, practically indestructible scrub growth, the island seems to be totally lifeless.

Deniv glances back to see if the hulk of the ship is still there, or if it has washed back out to sea.
Not a lot to work with.  We can fashion slings out of cloth and hunt birds that way.  We can make stone tools, make shelter.  He pauses, looking once again back to the beach.  If it doesn't get washed away, we can take the ship apart to use the wood.

In reply to Daniv Jensen (msg # 142):

Standing atop the cliff, shivering from the drenching he received combined with the days mental exhaustion Man, not much here.  True, we need to keep moving and find shelter and eastward looks favorable to walk but northward probably has caves or areas of cover seeing how broken up it is. turns to Daniv Daniv, if the ship is still there tomorrow we do need to get as much out of it as we can, deck boards, mastheads, railings and so forth that can help us survive here.
