Re: The Darkwood Inn

I can't remember, how urgent is it that we explore these caverns? Is there a 'ticking time bomb' so to speak?

The narratively sensible thing to do is to go in and explore, but the mechanically sensible thing to do is take the 16 hour rest!

Re: The Darkwood Inn

I agree. If anything comes out, we can wake up and kill it. I think we (as characters) believe this is where the source may be, so let's booby-trap the entrance and then rest/train and then go down with spiffy new stuff! A couple more HP and a new spell and so forth would sure be helpful!

BTW GM, the forum keeps reminding us that we're approaching the 1,000 post limit. Didn't know if you knew this or not, just wanting to top this one off probably.

Re: The Darkwood Inn

Bwahaha. Go ahead. The DM won't cause hundreds of spider things to attack you because the master is underground...of course he wont

And yes it's at post 961 now. I like to wait til it's a couple off 1000 to start a new thread

Fidget Mossgrower:
I really do need to rest but I'm not sure out here in a spider infested woods is really that safe. We know whats out here we don't know whats down below it might be a much more secure-able location to sleep. However before we go in I want cast a spell or two, I can make both Arell and Sara harder to hit, and help them avoid magics and poisons and stuff. It will only last about 9 minutes so I want to do it just before we enter.

By the way, what sorcerer spell is that? Nine minutes at first or second level is a weird number.

Re: The Darkwood Inn

So a practical question. Several of us have played together under Dread for a long time. We see a dip in activity going into and around the holiday season. If we take time to rest and level up, we'll lose a week of Real Time, I've been paying attention on how long it takes for everyone to get "ready" to get going again. If don't rest and go down now, might there be a chance to resolve this exploration before Thanksgiving, or will it take longer? If we can press ahead and then take our likely naturally occurring break in a couple of weeks, then I say we go down the entrance now. If what's down there will take us longer than a couple of weeks to resolve, then I think we should rest, level, and then proceed. Totally meta, totally out of character, I know, but this is RPOL and these things actually count for quite a bit. ;-)

Re: The Darkwood Inn

I'm pretty much on the same page, even in character. I think we poke our heads in and look around and scout a bit. That'll probably take us a week or two ;-)

If there's more than just a cave, we regroup and rest. If not, then we go back to town and rest and figure out what to do next.

Re: The Darkwood Inn

Ok totally meta here. Two encounters
One ehh easy enough. 1 hard as hell. And this adventure is done and everyone levels.

Re: The Darkwood Inn

Does "hard as hell" become "almost hard as hell" if we rest? :-P

Without looking behind the GM's screen, two encounters, one tough one seems that we'll be several weeks more of Real Time at 1-2 rnds/week. Might I guess we could finish by Christmas and start the new year with out next adventure?

Re: The Darkwood Inn

No remember the recent giant spider encounter took about 3 days...maybe 4. I'll bet we wrap up both by the end of the month if not sooner

And no. It doesn't (become easier with rest)

In reply to Sara Dawnstar (msg # 987):

It's a couple scrolls I bought before we headed out, it's the same source that allowed me to cast a two ray scorching ray at 1st level. high level mage in town charged me an arm and a leg for a couple scrolls.

I can use it six times a day. It does ME no good, since an 11 with a +2 still misses. But simeone like Sara? I can use it to aid our heavy hitter and be more effective from a team standpoint.
