Character Creation

This thread is for character creation resources and questions.

The full BFRPG rules can be downloaded in full here:
http://basicfantasy.org/downlo...y-RPG-Rules-r107.pdf

The Beginner's Essentials (which includes character creation rules and some essential starting rules) can be downloaded here:
http://basicfantasy.org/downlo...ersEssentials-r9.pdf

Note: Both of these documents only have the base races and classes. If any player chooses a race or class included in a later supplement, I'll link to those docs in later posts in this thread.

Character Creation

Character sheets have been added to everyone but Argon and Veskard. I'll PM you two about that.

We're going to start everyone at 2nd level. Otherwise, it should be standard character creation.

Make sure you use the dice roller for your ability rolls and starting money rolls. If you end up with a really crappy set of ability scores, let me know and I'll consider allowing a reroll.

If you're playing a non-human, you can take the racial bonuses to your saves and subtract them from the save scores that your class would have. So, for example, a thief would normally save vs. Dragon Breath at 16, but a halfling thief saves at 13. This will make the math more simple and ensure we don't have a dead character who should have saved. :-)

There will be some use of house rules and optional rules, but I can't think of any that would affect character creation.

If you have any questions, put them here or PM me.

Can we roll for abilities 6 times, then apply them to whatever stats we want? For example, I'm a cleric, so I want Wisdom to be my best stat.

Yes, 6 rolls of 3d6, then assign them as you wish.

No, I'm afraid I haven't gotten to that.

General note: Mages and clerics, you may choose your own spells.

For starting gold, everyone should roll 3d6 and multiply it by 10. Do your rolls in the open, but if you end up with too little to get decent gear, make me aware of it.

For a level 2 magic user, how many known spells should I choose?

I remember two first level spells at 1st... one Read Magic, one of your choosing. And Read Magic doesn't count against your spell total, but does against your spell slots when cast. So at second, you'd choose another first level spell, for a total of three. Will clearly defer to the DM if I misremembered!
