The cloaked figure, reluctantly, remains where he currently crouches next to the unconscious weequay. He slowly turns his head a few degrees so as to get a glimpse of the newcomer's appearance in the gloom.

The new arrival is a humanoid figure of medium height and build, dressed in a dark blue jumpsuit, with a black space helmet that covers his face. He currently stands around five meters away, legs apart, a blaster rifle trained on the cloaked figure.

"Give me the lightsaber," he demands, jerking his head toward the weapon, "Slowly."

The cloaked figure narrows his eyes beneath his own helmet.

"And just who are you, that you think yourself safe demanding such a weapon from me?"

"I'm Bane Malar," the armored figure replies with a hint of pride, "Perhaps you've heard of me?"

As he speaks, he subtly attempts to probe the cloaked figure's mind.

OOC: Bane Malar used Telepathy on Zirak Derasir. (DC13 to resist).

The cloaked figure senses the attempted intrusion of his mind, and consciously blocks out the armored man. He then attempts to tap into the dark power within him that he used to drain the guards earlier, and stretches out a hand toward the armored man.

The armored man takes a step back, but also consciously blocks the dark energy from invading his mind. He tilts his head to one side, his expression hidden beneath his helmet.

OOC: Bane Malar rolled 20 using 1d20+1. Will Save.

"Try to touch my thoughts a second time, Bane, and I assure you, I will not be merciful," the cloaked figure says, silkily.

"Listen, I don't know who you are or what you want," Bane says carefully, "But perhaps we can come to an arrangement? All I want is that cube you are carrying. And Sora Bulq," he adds as an afterthought as his eyes alight on the weequay Jedi's unconscious form.

"He happens to be a friend and that cube happens to be mine. You will touch neither, or I will strike you again, with more malice."

OOC: Zirak Derasir rolled 13 using 1d20+6. Intimidate.

"Not before I shoot you dead. Try it again and I will," Bane's tone somehow lacks the surety of his words, then he continues, "However, I have an alternative deal. You want to get out of here alive, yes? I have a ship. I admit it was a bit ambitious of me to demand Sora. Fine. Keep Sora. Just give me the cube, and I’ll give you safe passage out of here. Deal?"

"What is the cube, anyway?" the cloaked figure asks, after a short pause.

"My ticket to wealth and fame," Bane replies coolly, "Now, do we have a deal? Or does one of us have to die?"

"Why don't we work that out at your ship?" Zirak suggests, eyeing Bane's gun.

It is Bane's turn to pause, eying Zirak's right hand.

"Fine. But I'm not carrying your friend."

Bane seems understandably reluctant to approach, but at length he sighs.

"Fine. But no tricks or funny business," he warns as he crouches beside Sora's form and attempts to inject the medpac.

The cloaked figure watches him, eyes hooded beneath his helmet, and obeys this request.

Bane injects the medpac with great success into Sora, who quickly jolts awake, fumbling for a weapon before relaxing.

"I'm with him," Bane hastily informs Sora, pointing at the cloaked figure.

OOC: Sora Bulq has gained 2 wound points.

The weequay, or Sora Bulq, as he appears to be, blinks several times, before glancing blankly at the cloaked figure.

"He is a friend, at least for now. I would not trust him too far though, once we reach his ship. He wants the cube. And you, apparently."

"No, no," Bane says quickly with a nervous laugh, "Just the cube, Sora, just the cube."

Sora continues to stare with bewilderment at Bane as the mercenary rises and begins to make his way down the corridor.

"Come on," Bane hisses to the amnesic pair, "Before more of those-"

But even as he speaks a squad of four more of the stumpy creatures turn about the corridor, and once more, with excited squeaks and squeals, begins firing.

Bane swiftly raises his rifle to fire, fumbles, and almost drops the weapon. He glances quickly at the cloaked figure.

"Piece of rubbish," he mutters to himself.
