Chapter V: The Slums of Denon

Korr Sella stands, frozen at the foot of the boarding ramp. The hangar in which the ship is docked is narrow, with barely two meters of space between the top of the ship and the hangar's roof. It is also dingy, with only two of its dozen fluorescent lights actually working. To add to the ambiance, piles of refuse seem to have built up in a couple of the corners, providing the air about them with a thoroughly unique odor.

"Of all the hangars in Denon, this is where you choose to land the ship?" she asks in disgust.

Chapter V: The Slums of Denon

"Yet another reason why I always wear a sealed enviro-suit," Bane Malar explains to Zirak matter-of-factly, before adroitly ducking past Sella and into the hangar.

"It isn't so bad," he adds to Sella lightly, "And until I get our ship re-registered to 'Malar's Fist' I can hardly go giving out our registration number to reputable docking agencies, now, can I?"

Chapter V: The Slums of Denon

Zirak sends Sella a disdainful look, which says exactly what he thinks of people who can't bear the smell of a refuse pile or two.

"I could eat you, if you are that unhappy with your current state," he offers, snidely.

"You really aren't very creative with your threats," Sella replies, still from behind her nose-clenching hand. She then hurries after Bane. Whether to escape the odor or to simply not allow Zirak a chance to retort, he can't be sure.

"It's actually not that bad," Sora says from behind Zirak, taking a few experimental sniffs of the air.

"Exactly. I don't know what she's whining about," Zirak says, though Sora notes that Zirak doesn't take an experimental sniff. He seems, in fact, to be breathing as little and as shallowly as possible.

Chapter V: The Slums of Denon

As Sora strides off after Bane and Sella, R5 sidles up beside Zirak at the foot of the boarding ramp.

"Beep-boopity-bleep-dwoop?" it beeps, using an appendage to pat the compartment on its front in which the cube is contained.

Bane, meanwhile, seems to have noticed the droid at the foot of the ramp, and heads back over to the ship.

"R5," he says patiently but firmly, "Someone needs to stay with the ship."

"I don't deny that it would be more pleasant for the rest of us if she did," Bane replies, glancing at Sella who has halted, despite the smell, to watch the three of them suspiciously, "But you know as well as I do that she would never agree to let Sora out of her sight. Besides, we need someone on our side."

Chapter V: The Slums of Denon

The condition of the corridor outside is not much of an improvement on the hangar itself. It its defense the majority of its fluorescent lights seem to be functioning properly, and the rubbish on its floor is more evenly distributed, but the odor persists, and the walls of the corridor are covered in grime and graffiti. The corridor appears to be deserted, with another couple of open doors leading to hangars of similar condition as the one in which they landed.
