I suspect that I know the answer, but I will give the silent folks a chance to respond before volunteering our collective services...  :)

Anytime you want to see if someone us being deceptive make a perception roll based on Intellect, then mention any assets your character has. You can apply effort as well to lower the difficulty. You have a DT4 for discerning deception from Guyan.

FYI: Narv is the butcher you just came from.

Do you want to NPC the responses from Lux and Phren, Friend GM?

No, I don't think so. Phren hasn't posted to the IC thread at all, so we can consider him absent from this session. We'll see if he joins up later.

Lux did post early on, so let's assume he is quietly agreeing with the general consensus and if combat arises we'll assume he's elsewhere.

It doesn't make a lot of sense to me that Lux was with us before, but isn't with us now.

If you don't want to NPC him, should we retcon him out, and assume that we arrived at the village as a threesome?

I'm totally okay with that. We'll retcon his absence from being in Adderstal and work him in later if he decides to come back.

In the meantime I opened the game up for RTJs to add in another PC.

I'm slightly confused about the use of edge on this : how can I use effort and edge on this.
As I understand it, I can use effort on every part of an action (so once for each dodge)
On the other hand I can use edge only once for each action. So, are each dodge different action or is it one whole big synced dodge, maybe harder ?

How precisely targeted is Onslaught?  If I zap the thug holding onto Sybella, is there any danger that she will receive any damage?  :o

Onslaught is a precise attack with no ambient damage. You will want to specify if you're doing a mental or physical attack.

We have traveled together, and perhaps already been in battle together.  The ladies are both Nanos, and Charis can directly sense Sybella's emotions.

Therefore... what type of attack is Sybella using?

Can't you do tandem attacks, if one knows the tricks of the other ? I remember something like that.

Sybella is using Onslaught.

You can as long as one is trained in the type of attack the other is using, then they can perform a complimentary attack of a different type to gain +2 on the roll. They both have to be targeting the same opponent.

Re: OOC thread

Yes, I know that...  :p

My question concerns what type of Onslaught she is using: mental or physical?

If we both use the same type of Onslaught (both mental or both physical) on the same target, does that qualify for a tandem attack?

Re: OOC thread

Good point. Sybella, what type of Onslaught are you using... mental or physical?

As well as you both using the same type, you could also have one do mental and the other do physical and get the bonus.

Re: OOC thread

So we can get the bonus either way?

I am not a mechanics expert, but am I correct in my assumption that a target would be defeated more quickly if we used the same type of attack (both mental or both physical), so that we can knock one stat down to zero together ASAP?

What type of armor (if any) are these thugs wearing?

My impression is that they probably have more Might than Intelligence... but Onslaught does EITHER 4 physical damage OR 2 mental damage (ignoring armor), right?

Based upon previous experience, would a physical or mental attack be more effective?

I am also assuming that it is better to concentrate on a common target and even out the numbers ASAP, so that they will have fewer folks attacking us...

Re: OOC thread

Yes, you can get the bonus either way.

The target would be defeated more quickly anyway if you both make successful hits on him/her whether or not you do a complimentary attack. The advantage to the complimentary attack is to ensure your success in hitting the target. The +2 gets you that much closer to the DT target.

The bandits have 1 armor and are level 2. You are correct in how the damage works for either attack. Enemies generally don't have individual stats like PCs, they just have health points (in this case 3x level). A successful physical attack will do 3 points of damage (4 - 1 armor) and physical will do 2. In this case, physical makes more sense.

Eliminating each enemy more quickly will reduce the number of attacks against you, true. It depends on how much damage you can do. A medium weapon can take out a bandit in to successful rounds. Also, each PC gets +1 bonus if 3 or more PCs attack a single target.

Welcome aboard, Quellan Cet!  :D

Too bad that it is too late to gang up on the chief bandit... at least, for now.  But Serren and Sybella were both forced into individual melee initially, so what to do?

As a newbie game mechanics ignoramus, what exactly do I need to roll to successfully hit?  :o

Re: OOC thread

As they are level 2 you need to roll a 6 or better to hit. You can use Effort to reduce it down to a 3 if you feel so compelled, which would cost you 2 Intellect (3 minus your 1 Edge).

FYI: the leader is level 3.
