Breaking the Seal - Chapter 1a
She awoke with a start. She knew she had been dreaming, but when one is awakened with a huge noise from somewhere outside of your dreams, somewhere in the real world, you seem to forget what you were actually dreaming about. She forgot instantly.

Instead her eyes fluttered open and her ears became the focal part of her body. She listened, half hoping she would hear it again so she could figure out what and where the sound came from in order to subdue her fear, and half hoping she wouldn't for it could only be a thing from your worst nightmares. And those nightmares began to manifest in her mind.

Her body stiffened and she tried to will whatever it was away. Maybe if I just lay still whatever it is or was will just go away.

She lay there completely still, her chest not lifting because she was practically holding her breath. Then she thought she heard something, real or imagined she didn't quite know. So with every effort in her body, and her jaw clenched so tight as to not show her fear, she slowly sat up to take an unobtrusive look around.

Breaking the Seal - Chapter 1a
He was asleep and than he was not... everything was a blur, bugger... it took him a moment to figure out that it was not only his memory and mind that is blurry but also his vision.

Names are a funny thing, you don't think about your own name for yourself you are always me or I and for him it was no different, nothing odd beside waking up in a strange room not knowing how you got there and where is there in the first place.

He stumbled into a sitting position his hands going by reflex in the seeking motion when one tries to locate ones glasses.

Breaking the Seal - Chapter 1a
~Wh--what? Where am I?~

Her thoughts were a jumble as she rolled up onto her feet. She brought her fists up defensively as if preparing for a fight. She swung her head from side to side to take in her environment, taking careful note of exits.

I will post on behalf of Four until we can get a fifth player. I'll try to keep them short, and just enough to demonstrate she's in the background.

Breaking the Seal - Chapter 1a
Sprawled, he opened his eyes at the sudden sound. He suddenly realised that he didn't have a clue where he was.

Had it happened again? Only worse, he always could remember - even if he didn't want to - what had happened.

What was that noise, anyway?

Too many questions. And he still felt tired.

Breaking the Seal - Chapter 1a
She cried out loudly as she woke up. The noise had been loud, perhaps louder than anything she had ever heard.  She sat up quickly when she realized she wasn't in a bed. The stiffness in her joints seemed to fade as it was replaced by adrenaline in her veins.

She didn't recognize where she was. How could she have gotten here? Was she still dreaming?

"What's going on? Where am I?" she asked loudly. Her speech was heavily accented as though she was not from the United States. I startled her to realize she didn't know where she was from. Or, where she was supposed too be, if here was even the wrong place.

Breaking the Seal - Chapter 1a
Five individuals are roused by the unmistakable sound of a gunshot. As they wake and take in their surroundings, several things become clearly apparent.

There is no furniture in the room. It is a massive open space--your best estimate is that the room is approximately eighty feet squared. Wooden floorboards creak underfoot, their age and neglect apparent. The walls are covered in a pale blue floral wallpaper that time and sunlight have bleached to a near white. Humidity has caused several patches in to the plastered ceiling have large moldy spots to form randomly. Large windows cover one wall, several of which have panes missing. On the wall opposite the windows, three sets of double doors are set at an equal distance along the surface.

Despite the aging room and the busted windows, the floor is surprising clean. This is great, you think, because all of you had been laying on it.

Breaking the Seal - Chapter 1a
She sat up. She turned and her eyes went wide as she saw a young man reach around for what she assumed would be his glasses. Where was she? she thought to herself as she began to panic.

Just then another person jumped up and began to look around. This startled her beyond belief and she began to somehow crawl backwards away from the threat.

Another awoke and then a loud cry burst forth and her mind began to unravel. She panicked and turned her body away from the others as they all began to stir. She stumbled away from them half running and half falling until she found a corner of the room where she sank down into it. She sat there curled up like a cornered, frightened animal. Her eyes and head darted from side to side in an irregular pattern. Her breathing was labored and static and her ginger red hair seemed wild and tossed.

It was a large room with windows now to her left and doors to her right. It seemed as if the room was old and had been left unattended. Where was she? she asked herself again. Who are these people?

Then her eyes went wide and her thoughts went inward. She searched and searched and found no answer to the question which now haunted her... Who the hell am... I?

Breaking the Seal - Chapter 1a
His fingers run across a wooden floor, it was nicer than a cold stone tiles... as he picked the familiar shape of glasses he noticed ... yellow... he was dressed in a long sleeved buttoned yellow shirt, a very nice and dandy shirt tucked into a stylish pants all tailor made.

Oh bugger I am a bloody dandy ... he thought as he noticed the tie, clashing colors and patterns that was somehow worked... well at least for him.

As the world came to a focus he saw the others in the room next to him, he pushed himself up slowly. He hugged his arms feeling a bit naked without a jacket, somehow he knew he had one.

"Oy... " he said trying his voice "... anyone saw my jacket." his accent was British, thick and heavy.

Breaking the Seal - Chapter 1a
He sat up, noticing that he was dressed mostly in black with yellow highlights, a sort of atheletic/casual style that seemed... right.

As he looked round a completely unfamiliar room, he saw other people. Strangers. Four of them.

"Does anyone know where we are? Or what is going on?"

He reached back... that sound. A gunshot? Where? He looked round again, checking for threats.

Breaking the Seal - Chapter 1a
She makes note of the room's features quickly. Her gaze roams across each of the the four strangers. Her assessment is efficient and nearly predatory.

The foppish boy with glasses? Easy. Pampered. The two girls? Pretty much the same, though the redhead looks like she'd try to put up a fight.

That left the cornfed blond boy in the track pants. He had size and strength at his advantage. If it came to a fight, she mused, he would present an actual danger. His scraped, calloused knuckles suggested the blond boy knew how to defend himself. If things went pear shaped, she would eliminate him first.

Her struggle to remember made her angry. She knew she was...nothing. Not even her name. The girl's eyes flashed with realized panic at her confusion, and this put the edge of rage into her voice. Her English had a heavy French accent as she asked, "Who are you people? What have you done to me?"

Breaking the Seal - Chapter 1a
He was now standing, his gaze ran across the whole room trying to get a grasp of it all. He did not knew why but he felt restless, sitting and talking seemed so pointless and oh so frustrating slow.

From the reactions of the others it was clear they all had the same memory lapses ... the girl with the Vitiligo seemed angry on the verge of violence the other two seemed more relaxed or maybe in shock. The other block, he was a tall big guy, american of course and build like a Greek god...

"Ok, listen up heads, we need to jam and not start bashing heads." He looked around the group moving his balance from one leg to the other "Well, I am... honestly I have no frigging idea who I am, so lets try Jack... or maybe Jim... nah I'll stay with Jack." once again he look at the others as he adjusted his dark rimmed glasses "So I'll be Jack and we are all in swag, so nobody shook on us and we be fine."

"Now there was some loud bang, I see we need to go investigate... see what we find out." saying that he started to move in a widening circle to better explore the room.

Breaking the Seal - Chapter 1a
She didn't have a clue... really. She had no idea where she was, who these people were, what her name was or where the British kid's jacket happened to be.

Jacket. She looked down at her own ensemble. She was dressed fashionably but the clothes were not completely high end. More like H&M, stylish yet affordable. She had on a dark blue, olive green, and white ensemble beginning with a blue top that sported an olive green and white butterfly on it. She had on a knee-length skirt of a dark blue and white pattern that was extremely high waisted. She wore dark blue leggings and a pair of strapped, heeled clogs that somehow she knew instinctively were a pair of her favorites. The ensemble was completed by a dark blue jacket that had five enormous buttons and to the casual observer the overall effect of the ensemble gave them a late 1960's feel although the skirt was entirely too long for the era. She thought that she should have had a purse, but she didn't have it with her and with a quick look around she didn't see it.

("I don't know anything!") Her Russian came out perfectly. There was no real accent, just flawless Russian as if a westerner had learned flawless Russian. She stared for a moment realizing she had just spoken Russian and the others had been speaking English. In an instant she spoke again and it was in English. "I don't know who you all are and I don't know why we are here and I don't even know who I am!... Jack." She was beginning to lose it and a tear emerged running down her cheek. She wiped it away quickly. "I heard it too. A gun shot went off. Why don't you go ask them why we are all here?"

She stayed curled up in the corner, afraid.

Breaking the Seal - Chapter 1a
She looked about, doing her best to read the faces of the British boy and the redhead. "I...I don't remember anything as well, began the girl, her expression flat and guarded. "It is strange that...all of us?...lack memories. How? Why?"

Her face began to soften. Something told her that none of these other kids did this to her.

Breaking the Seal - Chapter 1a
Sitting, she watched the others interact.  She held her back straight, which was probably a good thing when she looked down.  The dress she was wearing had a V to the bottom of her sternum.  A slouch would leave her embarrassingly exposed.  She smoothed her hands over the high quality fabric of the wide skirt that pooled about her legs, the bold pinks and blues of the abstract pattern were somehow calming to her.  They brought to mind islands, waves, the sound of seagulls on the beach.  None of these things were from memories, she apparently had no memories to contact.

She took a deep breath, finding a stillness inside the source of which she was not sure. "Who knows?  Drugs? Surgery? Virus? Act of God?  It appears we did not arrive here of our own accord.  We do not seem like people who were intending to be in the same place at the same time, at least not from how we are dressed."

She did not yet stand, choosing to remain low in the room.  "Hopefully whoever has the gun doesn't mean us any harm.  But maybe we should move away from the windows just in case."

Breaking the Seal - Chapter 1a
From outside the room, there is the faintest sound of footfalls slapping against the aging wooden floors. The sound intensifies as it nears just outside the rightmost door. The sound continues behind the closed double doors, heading at breakneck speed towards the leftmost doors. As quickly as the sound neared, the runner's steps were fading as the distance grew. In a matter of seconds, the sound of the runner was gone.

He got up from the floor.

"I know nothing... yet. Time to find out."

Hearing the footsteps he moved towards the leftmost door and tried the doorknob.
