Re: Chapter 1- Buckley Avenged

"I can see what I can do about finding Doyle. The AARs' may take a bit. They generally send older reports up the mountain to store electronically, before they send them back to the Hospital. Still, it might take a bit, but you'll have em."

He takes a second to think, before he continues, scratching his chin. "I may have another guy for you. Delta. I'll see what I can do to bring him on if you'd like?"

Re: Chapter 1- Buckley Avenged

A day passes, uneventful. The next day after, Sergeant Washington asks to see you both. When you are able to meet him, he arrives carrying two file folders.

After saluting you he says "Sirs! I have the shopping list you asked me to compile, as well as more information about the parking garage we are going to use. I have a map of the location." He pauses, hands you one of the folders with several documents in it, you see a few requisition request forms when you peruse it. He then says while you are examining it "Sir, I also have this for you, its orders that have come down from The Mountain. Barrel Rider wanted you to be able to see the operational orders for the city of Aurora. The brass is planning on flattening it.". He hands you the second file folder with the orders in it OOC: (See thread on Operation MULE for more details)

Re: Chapter 1- Buckley Avenged

The file with the shopping list has several documents in them. There are several maps (OOC: See Game Maps A-E) detailing the region as well as the basement of the parking garage.

The shopping list is as follows. Washington goes over it with you and explains that he based the requisitions off of what was available, and not what wanted.

3 bags with 100 zip ties in them
Gas masks for entry team
5 Rifle Noise Suppressors
3 pairs of binoculars
1 60X spotting Scope on a tripod
3 large mag lights
D Cell batteries for Mag lights, enough for 3 reloads each
2 cases of Mk3A2 Concussion grenades (20 per case)
2 500Kw Generators with fuel shipments (ethanol) for each week (OOC: subject to availability. Each week roll 1d10, if less than 4 then no fuel is available)
4 Laptop computers. All are hardened and designed for work sites, and audio visual inputs
Lighting for the facility
Tables, chairs, cots, bedding, and office supplies
Food for your command. Same fair as Anshutz
2 small heaters
Broadcast Monitoring equipment
A set of bore scopes and assorted gear to go with it and black and white tv with VCR, 10 blank VHS tapes
24 bugs
bug monitor
Laser microphone
Parabolic Booster
Radio direction finder
RF scanner/filter
3 high power 35 mm cameras with zoom lens
enough ammunition to replace what you have expended

OOC: I'd like both of y'all to come up with a plan for taking the parking garage please. As an incentive, if there are no casualties, I will give each of you 1 xp after you successfully take the garage. I'd like to think it will be a dry run for future operations against your objectives going forward.

Arminstead recommends taking Curtis Jimenez with you. He has experience with stakeouts, and is highly skilled in what he does.

After acquiring what you need to start out with, you get a ride from Washington and his guys. They got an upgrade after the last fight, and they have an armored Humvee with a fifty on top instead of the old barely running technical they had been using. He drives to within a few blocks of the H-Mart. You'll have to huff it to get there from here. Curtis has a large duffle, and is carrying a hard case in each hand. He looks excited.

Re: Chapter 1- Buckley Avenged

When you get there, it takes a bit to find the ladder to the roof that Barrel Rider provided the location for. The building is a large grocery store, meant to cater to the Asian people living in Aurora before the war. It is structurally sound, but it has been looted to the point where there is only rotten veggies and garbage left in the building. The building has a smell, most likely from the food, and what looks like a previously flooded toilet, that seems to have created a large pool of standing water in one corner of the building. Fortunately, you don't have to get your feet wet to get to the ladder. Getting to the top is easy, the door that opens up to the roof is easily opened, as the lock had been busted off at some point. The rear of the building faces the parking garage as well as the Pavilion Towers. There are several large fan units that you can use as cover, and there is enough space that you could construct a comfortable shelter without being seen below.

Re: Chapter 1- Buckley Avenged

After you settle in and get ready to look at the garage, Curtis grins at you as he sets down the larger hard case. "Check this out! You're gonna love this! I traded a few favors in to get this!" he whispers loudly, looking as he can barely contain his excitement. He opens the case and pulls out a contraption that mounts on a tripod. It has a small viewscreen on one side, and what looks like a large telescopic camera on the other. He flips it on after he sets it up to look down at the parking garage, and it makes a small whine as it warms up. "Its a portable thermal imager! I've never got to play with one of these before!"! he whispers with a big grin on his face.

Re: Chapter 1- Buckley Avenged

He pans it around the structure. Heat signatures flare up, a man smoking something at the entrance, shivering, is apparently the guard. There are 11 other heat signatures of people and a few containers that look like barrels with fires in them dispersed around the inside of the facility. Three of them appear to be up. One looks to be drinking something sitting on the opposite side of the building, the other two seem to be fucking near the area with the rest of the people.

Re: Chapter 1- Buckley Avenged

Curtis watches the screen for a few minutes and exclaims "What the fuck? That idiot is drunk!" He taps on the screen, focusing on the entrance of the garage. The image shows the man guarding the spot guzzling from what looks like a liquor bottle, and sure enough he stumbling around as he paces back and forth in front of the entrance. He even trips at one point, and has trouble standing back up. You can actually hear his swearing over the stillness of the night as he stands up. Shortly after, he wanders over to the side, pisses, then doubles over and pukes. His retching again disturbing the quiet. No one inside seems to notice. He seems to be paying more attention to what's going on inside than out, and you soon see why. When the others seem to fall asleep, he wanders over to a spot, sits down, and soon falls asleep.

"Well Goddamn, this is gonna be easy!" Curtis says with surprise in his whisper.

Re: Chapter 1- Buckley Avenged

The next few days are cold and miserable, and you find yourselves using your blankets almost the entire time. The gang has a routine. During the day, most of the gang leaves, going to the north, towards the more populated parts of town. They are always gone by noon. One or two stay behind to watch the place. The second night, the man who you saw drinking and passing out gets the shit kicked out of him after he repeats his indiscretion and is caught by the gangs leaders. There is a different guard after that. They seem to stay awake, but spend most of the night huddled up in a blanket next to a small fire to keep themselves warm. On the third day, you hear a distant gunshot, then two more. An hour later, you hear a screaming man, and soon see all but the two inside and three others coming back in carrying a man that is howling. You see blood through his white shirt in his lower torso. They bring him in and set him down, but it is obvious they don't know what to do with him. The other three, including who you have discerned to be the leader. He is a large muscular man with blonde hair, and designer sunglasses. You can see on his and the other two with him blood. A few minutes later, you see the man who was wounded on the thermals stop moving. The leader comes out of the building and screams, then lights a cigarette, smoking it in it's entirety before going back inside.

Re: Chapter 1- Buckley Avenged

So on Map E, Number 1 is the entrance to the garage and the guard is just outside. There is not really any other guard positions inside. They mainly hang out in the sections marked C when they are inside.

From the outside the entrance is partially obscured by rubble from the collapsed upper structures. A chunk of concrete and rebar has collapsed and hangs down from the first level, blocking vehicles from entering, but the sides are still open enough to allow people to get in and out, two wide on the left side, one on the right.

Re: Chapter 1- Buckley Avenged

When you start looking at the side doors, you do notice that there is another guard stationed, if that is what you'd call it. There is always someone either sleeping near or facing the rear left corner of the structure. Sometimes someone goes and sits on the stairs going up for several hours. You would have to reposition to see it's condition, as it is on the opposite side of the building.

In reply to Jorg Mendez (msg # 782):

That may be, but I think it'd be better to have a little more firepower with us before we try to charge in. Two teams hit the side entrance and a technical with a fifty cal and me with my sniper rifle to cover the front door. I'd much rather have too much coverage than not enough. Neither of us have stuck around this long by not being prepared.

Re: Chapter 1- Buckley Avenged

Map Locations:

1. Entrance to the Garage. This can be cleared safely to allow for full access under, but will require heavy equipment to do so.
        A. There is usually a guard or two out here. They are not particularly observant,
           mostly just trying to stay
warm and if they have a smoke, they are often taking a smoke break.

2. These are stairs that once went all the way up to the fourth floor before it collapsed. All four are inaccessible now and are blocked by debris. The door on the bottom left is the one where a guard is sometimes hanging out that you think might be able to be breached.

7. These are both vent locations that are closed up from the rubble above.

8. This vent is ideal for using the tear gas Lt. Arminstead suggested to use on this gang.

B. This seems to be a defensive position, probably set up with some wood and some extra metal plates attached to the car that they have rolled to the middle of the room

C. These are the sleeping and eating areas for the gang. there is usually 1-12 members of the group at these locations, either sleeping, fucking, eating or just hanging out. Each spot has several mattresses, a few old sleeping bags, blankets, and clothes. There are two picnic tables at both locations and a burn barrel at both locations for heat and cooking. There are piles of wood, cardboard, and waste piled near them, and they have a grate over each of them.

81, 87, 35, 11, 57, 23, 66, 16, 79, 4 (lower left hand corner 4), 46, 80, 71, and 39 are all vehicles in varying states and makes.

The parts not listed here will need to be investigated in person.

Re: Chapter 1- Buckley Avenged

In reply to Mina (msg # 784):

FRAGO:

Situation:
Currently, enemy forces are maintaining a position in an abandoned parking garage and we need to remove their presence.

Enemy Forces:
The enemy force consists of approximately a dozen individuals, both male and female. They are maintaining their position within the parking garage located to the front of our position. Enemy personnel are gang members and their level of military training is currently unknown but discipline appears to be very lax among the members of the gang. The enemy is armed with small arms of various makes and calibers and has established a defensive position at the entrance to the parking garage.

Friendly Forces:
Current team members will be utilized for the assault and will be divided into several teams, each with an element leader:

Overwatch Element:
=============================
Colter (Element Leader)
Jimenez
Electronic
Forster

HMMWV Team:
=============================
Vic (Element Leader)
Bohn (Driver)
Mitchell (Gunner)

Assault Element:
=============================
Mendez (Element Leader)
Washington
Arminstead

Chemical Assault Team:
=============================
Dodgson (Element Leader)
Keith

No other friendly elements or attachments will be operating within our mission area.

Mission:
Our mission is to assault the position held by the enemy personnel and capture for interrogation or kill, if necessary, all enemy personnel. The assault will take place at 0230 LOCAL. Local command needs to interrogate the enemy and their capture is imperative.

Execution:
Concept of Operations: Under cover of darkness and the overwatch provided by the overwatch element, the Chemical Assault Team will move to a position to which they can access the vents marked as position 8 on the map. At mission go-time of 0230 local, they will begin to deploy CS grenades into the vent at 15-second intervals until ordered otherwise by the assault element.

Once the overwatch element confirms that the enemy personnel is being affected by the CS gas, the assault element will breach the southern door and assault the position. Initially, the assault team will employ concussion grenades and switch to M4s with suppressors. The goal is to push the enemy personnel toward the entrance.

The HMMWV team will roll toward the entrance at the go-time and fire warning shots as the enemy emerges from the garage while calling for the enemy to surrender.

If the assault fails, the assault team will withdraw using their initial entry point under cover of fragmentation grenades and rendevous with the chemical assault team before returning to our base of operations. The HMMWV will maintain a base of fire on the enemy defensive position with the M2 and will withdraw after the assault element confirms that they have made the rendevous with the chemical assault team.

All personnel will attempt to capture the enemy personnel without injury. Non-fatal shots are authorized in the face of enemy opposition. Deadly force is only authorized in extreme circumstances. If we are forced to with, all weapons are free.

The overwatch may engage the enemy with sniper fire only with the direct approval of myself or Vic and only to prevent the death or injury of a team member.

Coordinating Instructions: The overwatch will coordinate the assault based on the observations from our base of operations.

Administration and Logistics: The assault team will draw concussion grenades and suppressors from our stocks and the chemical assault team will draw the necessary CS grenades.

Keith will draw the necessary medical equipment and is the designated casualty collection specialist, with me as the secondary. Vic will coordinate the capture and processing of the enemy personnel from his position. All enemy prisoners will be brought there.

Lt. Arminstead will coordinate all matters of supply and perform the pre-operation inspection.

Command and Signal:
Signal: All elements will maintain radio contact on the team frequency. Coordination on that frequency will be done by the overwatch element.

The following signals will be used to mark major events:

- BEANS: The chemical assault is beginning to employ the CS grenades
- BARK: The enemy personnel is being affected by the gas and the assault can begin. The overwatch element will send this signal.
- BITE: The assault element is beginning their assault.
- BELLY: The assault has failed and the assault element is withdrawing.
- BONE: The assault element has rendezvoused with the chemical assault element
- BADGE: All enemy personnel are accounted for and secured

Command: I will command the assault element with Vic commanding the operation to capture the enemy personnel and we will be with our respective elements for the duration of the operation.
