Re: Chapter 1- Buckley Avenged

Ramirez looks like he normally wears a suit to the office, and you can see his coat jacket hanging over the chair he was sitting on. He has a serious look on his face, that gives you the impression that it is well practiced.

In a quiet, monotone voice he says: "Hello gentlemen, I'm Bruce Ramirez, formally of the FBI. I am your electronic surveillance expert. Bugs and such. Glad to have you on board"

His record is spotty, as parts of his record have been redacted prior to his service in the DIA and with MILGOV. What is there points to a highly qualified expert in electronic surveillance and counter surveillance.

Re: Chapter 1- Buckley Avenged

The next man you see is another civilian. He is wearing a suit, and looks like he could use a cup of coffee.

In a deep voice he says: "I'm Eli Forster, head of your communications unit. I've been with DIA since the eighties. This is my cohort, Kevin Alaster. We run your radio equipment, and make sure you're able to stay in touch."

His file has been heavily redacted, but he is definitely qualified on both Western and Combloc, as well as civilian electronics communications devices. Before the war, he was noted for several papers outlining communication procedures in military/intelligence coordination.

Re: Chapter 1- Buckley Avenged

Another soldier, Staff Sergeant Kevin Alaster stands at attention. He is a lanky, scrawny fellow.

In a very calm voice he replies to your command: "Staff Sergent Kevin Alaster, technical specialist. I work with the commo gear, and I have some experience from before the war as a hostage negotiator."

Your file indicates he worked with Denver Special Weapons and Tactics as negotiator before the war, though when he joined, he had an aptitude for communications gear similar to Mr. Forster.

Re: Chapter 1- Buckley Avenged

A young woman with her hair pulled back into a tight bun stands at attention in front of you.

"Gunnery Sergeant Peggy Cotter, USMC Force Recon, Marksman, Sir! she almost shouts.

Her file states she was a late war recruit that showed an extreme talent for shooting. Before the war, she was on the US Olympic target shooting team. During the war, she fought against both Mexican and Soviet invaders in Texas until she was reassigned to Colorado after the collapse of the US military in that area.

Re: Chapter 1- Buckley Avenged

The last man standing is a man in his mid fifties, and looks like he was attacked by a large chunk of metal at some point. He's big, bald, and has a mean look to him, which catches you completely off guard when he introduces himself as the unit's assigned paramedic.

"Shane Keith, Paramedic, used to work with Denver SWAT, now I'm here. Hopefully you don't need my services"

His file lists him as a veteran of the Denver police force as a paramedic. He has decades of experience helping the wounded, and has many awards for his service on record.

Sergeant Washington points to the last two soldiers in the room.

"Of course you know Privates Bohn and Mitchell. Or should I say, Corporal Bohn, who earned himself a promotion recently during their last few missions with you." he says in his heavy Southern drawl. "Should let you know, the Incident Commander, Lieutenant Arminstead, isn't here right now. He had a doctor's appointment this morning. They are fitting him for a new prosthetic. If you'd like, I can introduce you to the Lieutenant this afternoon if you are available?"

Re: Chapter 1- Buckley Avenged

"Yes sir, I will let him know. As far as transport goes, the truck is still at your disposal. There has been talk with the Airforce about lending us helicopters for air support and medevac, but only under rare circumstances. We are adequate with weapons, though we don't have as many flash bangs or frags as I'd like with operations like this. but if you need 9mm, five five six, or seven six two, we are fine. And the fifty on the truck has at least one more full box, and we can probably get more in the near future. As far as the gear goes, the teams here have the best of what's left for the DIA. Our operations have received priority tasking, so as long as we have access to a jenny to recharge the batteries and plug in the cords, we have what we need. Everyone is billeted here. If that is unsatisfactory, I am sure I can arrange move us closer to downtown Aurora if you have Barrel Rider's permission to do so. The only concerns I have is there are less medical supplies than I'd want to put to the test in this stuff, and the general lack of electronic communication in the field will blind us a bit. But we are ready to rock and roll, sirs" Washington replies confidently, with an air of expertise in these types of operations.

Re: Chapter 1- Buckley Avenged

Later that afternoon, while you both are going over the logistics of what is going to happen together in the small workspace that Barrel Rider has allotted to you, you hear a clopping out side on the floor. It stops at your door and someone knocks.

When you acknowledge it, a thin soldier wearing a serious look and a large gait walks in and stands at attention. He has a several small dark splotches on the left side of his face and neck, maybe old flash burns or scars that haven't healed right. He walks with a cane, and you notice that he is missing at least part of his right leg, as you can see the prosthetic. This is Lt. Raymond Arminstead. Your file on him is huge. He played a key roll in operations in Somalia as a Major. You remember reading about him in the paper back in the day, as he was served up as the scapegoat for the events that happened there. That he wasn't didn't retire and wasn't discharged says something about him as a soldier. He was placed in the general infantry, and his actions stateside during the war have been exemplary, and the accident that cost him his leg earned him the Distinguished Service Cross. If it weren't for the black mark in Somalia, he probably would have been a Colonel by now. Barrel Rider is known for using whatever talent he can find, and put him back in something he did well before his career fell apart. He is your Incident Commander, in charge of coordinating the other teams while you breach a building or take down a vehicle.

"Lieutenant Raymond Arminstead reporting for duty sirs" he says as he salutes. His voice has a serious rasp to it. His file says his lungs were damaged during a gas attack.

Re: Chapter 1- Buckley Avenged

In reply to Jorg Mendez (msg # 750):

"Yes sir. I'm hear to do just that." He laughs, which is a strange sound with the rasp. I'm your Incident Commander. I apparently can still direct traffic even with a bum leg and seared lungs. Sergeant Washington said you wanted to find a staging area a little closer to the action. I may have an idea for a place. It'll take a little effort, but it's in the direction we are aiming. There is no subway system here in Aurora or Denver even, but there is an old skyscraper near downtown Aurora that has a huge basement. The building is messed up, gutted by fire, and unsafe to go up in."He starts coughing. It's a nasty wet, hacking cough, but he composes himself after a bit. "It's ideally situated to several of the major hotspots where the worst of the recent fighting has taken place. The problem, is that a small gang is holed up in there. It might be worth our time to clear them out, and I have a way to get in past their guards. I can show you if you'd like?" You didn't see the small attaché case he brought in with him over his shoulder. He reaches towards it.

Re: Chapter 1- Buckley Avenged

In reply to Jorg Mendez (msg # 752):

"Yes sir." He pulls out an old blueprint (Map 9 in the Game Maps) of an underground parking structure. "This actually might be easier than you'd expect. This is the underground part of the parking structure by the Pavilion Towers. See the main parking structure is above ground. It was leveled before the war for a remodel. They never finished it."

He stabs his finger on the third exhaust vent, "The other vents are covered up by rubble and such. This is the only one that still provides ventilation into the underground structure, which is still intact. We have a sizeable amount of tear gas we could requisition, and I guess you can see where I'm going with this. Only entrance is the main ramp down. Gas the lot of them, rush them with our masks on, and zip tie em. We probably won't even have to shoot anyone." He gives a menacing smile.

"The other project you were working on before the riots. Buckley. Barrel Rider doesn't believe it, but I think you have a leak of some sort. To many coincidences. The guy who was on this case before Billy was blown up after letting command know that he had that disk. Wally's death. A few other occurrences. I don't have any idea who it is. I'm pretty sure it isn't Barrel Rider. Man might be a spook, but he is a patriotic one, and lives his duty to the country. I think that maybe why you got the gig after was killed was a way for him to have some trust in his people. Keep an eye out." He is beet red after saying this, and starts a hacking cough into his elbow.

"Well, Myself and my team were there when they needed us, but not regulars. Washington had a few guys in addition to Mitchell and Bohn, there were three others. Croaker and Hansen were killed in the op to secure that CD you guys brought in. I think the only other member of his team was PFC Adam Doyle. He was blamed by Washington for the death of Croaker and Hansen. I think he set off some sort of booby trap that got them killed. He always said he didn't do it, but Washington and Billy both thought that he was the one who set it off. He was discharged, and I think he joined the building crews here in Denver after that. I don't know where you can get ahold of him if you want to talk to him. Washington might know, but it's a soar subject with him. You might piss him off if you ask"
