Rules of the Game

In order to keep the game fun for everyone, it is best to comply with the rules listed below. If there are things you are not sure about, always ask the GM for clarification.

  1. God-modding is not allowed in this game. Unless you are given the opportunity to do so, you may not take control of other players, deliver instant kills, or claim you are undefeatable.
  2. Please complete the character sheet to the best of your ability. If you have questions, feel free to ask the GM. Your character will not be accepted if some fields are incomplete.
The GM has the right to reject the use of certain characters for play due to various reasons, such as upsetting the game's balance and enjoyment.
  3. The GM has the right to reject the RTJ if it does not satisfy the requirements of the game.
  4. The GM holds the right to decide the outcome of a situation. If you are not pleased with the decision, you are free to leave the game.
  5. Avoid arguments with the GM and other players in the game. If you have any concerns, please ask the GM through PM.
  6. You may not harass anyone. This include flames and spams.
  7. Please try to stay active in the game. If you feel that you cannot be available to post, please inform the GM ahead of time.
  8. Player knowledge should not interfere with character knowledge.
  9. This is a game, try your best to have fun. ;)

Posting Formats

To make it easier to figure what is going on, please include the following in your posts:

Location: specific location in an area
Action: a summary of the character's action
Tag: characters whose attention is demanded by the post

It is recommended to use a color for speech text, and format with italics if they are the character's thoughts. Emphasis may be used by means of bold or underline.

If you want to add an ooc comment, use the red color and have "ooc:" at the start of the comment.

Posting Frequency

Being a freeform game, I wouldn't mind if some of the players ended up posting more than others. At the least, give consideration to those who cannot post just as quickly (like your GM) and give time for others to react and not feel overwhelmed like a deer in front of the headlights.

There will be two posting modes identified for this game:

Free Posting - players need not wait for everyone else to have posted before putting up a post, as long as they do not end up making a double post (that's two successive posts one after another, just in case we're not clear on that). Still, take into consideration others who need to catch up in posting.

Combat Posting - turns will be strictly enforced in this posting mode. Simply put, you cannot post again until everyone else present has posted and the GM has resolved all actions.

Spotlight and Other Special Events

During the course of the game, there will be moments when the characters will be able to pull off actions that surpass their current abilities. These moments will be known as Spotlights, and the following are some things possible for our heroes to accomplish when the Spotlight is on them:

  • Use a power that they have yet to acquire for the duration of the spotlight.
  • Fight as if on even ground or one level higher with the opponent/s.
  • Gain a moment of inspiration to solve a challenge.
  • Grant an ally a chance at the spotlight.

Characters will be granted one Spotlight each at the beginning of an episode, and lasts until a situation has been resolved. It is possible for more than one character to use their Spotlights at the same time, in this case both characters get to share the moment of glory for that situation.

There will be situations when a foe would be defeated, but will manage to slip away at the last moment. These incidents are known as Interventions, and are exclusively used if a target in question has some importance later in the story. Characters are granted one Spotlight when this happens.

There are times when the heroes will find themselves close to achieving their goal, only to be sidetracked by the enemy. Situations like these is called a Crisis, and for a short duration the characters would not be able to use their Spotlight.
