ooc thread
I went ahead and rolled for starting wealth. I made an easily fixable mistake, which I blame on not being caffeinated enough.

quote:
Four rolled 21 using 4d4+10 ((3,1,3,4)) Mistakes were made. Subtract ten, times ten: 110gp.

Plus 1000, coming up to a grand total of 1110gp. I'll prepare a shopping list shortly; should we private message our gear choice or nah?

Also, I like living dangerously, I'll roll for my stats. I only hope it won't screw the whole group over. Should it be two sets of six 3d6 or two sets of six 4d6, drop lowest?

4d6 is standard, I thought.  It's what I rolled.  It wasn't quite as good as point buy would have been, but I'm not complaining.  It's quite adequate for the character.

I guess it is by the rules, you're right! I've had DMs ask for plain 3d6 rolls sometimes though, so I thought I'd make sure. I'll roll 4d6 as well, can always use the first three scores instead of the three highest.

Edit: I made a test roll to see if the macro worked right. It did, and I got 16, 15, 15, 14, 13, 10. I made the two actual rolls, one got some pretty abysmal scores, the other is reasonable, but nothing to write home about. I think the test roll absorbed most of my luck for the next couple weeks, haha.

@Three, best of luck on your future adventures! But like Two said, if you change your mind, plenty of help will be at your disposal.

Re: ooc thread
What about languages? Is drow it's own language, or is it just a dialect of elvish? Would we replace the usual common with undercommon? And are more exotic languages available, at least if we have a justification for them?

Re: ooc thread
Monster Manual has the drow speak Elvish and Undercommon, so I'm guessing Elvish is our native language. Definitely a distinct dialect but still fundamentally Elvish.

I rolled. My first set is mostly very good result with one 7, my second is the same with a 6. So I just have to figure out which low attribute fits my character best. :D

I know we've lost player Three but is everyone else still here?

I thought I better ask; who is playing male and who is playing female? My character concept is a male seeking out magic to become female.

Re: ooc thread
Still here as well.

My character is a young upstart male; he was looked at favorably by one of the higher ranked priestesses of the house once, but she got removed from her station (and her life), and he was thrust from his relatively comfortable position to measly patrol fodder (or anything that we end up being - he'd be on the lowest rung of the ladder of that particular station). As such, his motivation is revenge - being an edgy kid of forty-something, he says it's to avenge his murdered mate, but we all know it's just out of spite for having stuff taken away from him.

I wonder how fast he's going to get himself killed. :']

Re: ooc thread
Nice... well, he doesn't sound nice as in a nice person but nice character.

I rolled and ended up with a 7 (among otherwise very good scores). My male is a Rogue, though I could see him as a Bard if I could justify a Drow Bard - evil Drow version of Elan from Order of the Stick?

Mindarthis has an Intelligence of 7, a Wisdom of 16 and Charisma of 17. Basically he's a bimbo who has tried to survive by being as attractive and unthreatening as possible to powerful women. He comes across as a mindless airhead and... well... he sort of is, but he has a strong cunning streak and survival instinct.

Of course than Intelligence score might be why ended up as patrol fodder to, or whatever marginal post we end up in. :-]

Re: ooc thread
Still here! Sin'tiir is female, I'm thinking a minor noble of the house (not a daughter of the Matron, but a cousin or the like). While she enjoys a good fight, and does genuinely believe in and worship Lolth, she's a bit lazy and unambitious. So barking orders and angrily shouting at little males is too much effort, most of the time. Really, having a character like that in the party would be tiresome for everyone else. But she's not above using her privilege to get out of doing things for herself, especially where slaves are involved, but also drow commoners, males, etc.. Of course, not bothering with house politics has meant that she has been manoeuvred into doing dirty work, which is how she wound up with the rest of you.

Drow bard absolutely makes sense to me. Drow society is very decadent, and outside of the brutality and cruelty and control, focuses on pleasure. If a male is pretty and can make lovely music, he would make a nice little pet.

Great!
Sorry been busy!!
I've opened up character sheets for everybody and given names to those who have names.
I think we may just start with the three of you for now if you are happy with that?
We potentially could end up with like ten people if we go and advertise.

Let me know what types of adventures you are hoping for, I am happy to let you do stuff that you want. In the underdark there can be plenty of combat, and among the drow plenty of politcs and role playing... we can probably do anything you want!

People's character ideas look good btw.

Re: ooc thread
If we only got one female character then she will be (as far as the other drow concerned anyway) in charge of your little group... you will probably be getting some slaves to help however.

Maybe you have recently been sent through the teleportation circle from the nearby city to the outpost. So you are all relatively new and still getting your feet under you at the outpost. I think we'll start you off with some mundane patrol type work and if you dont die and prove yourself valuable/not too incompetent other work could become available. Again happy for you to have your own agenda etc..

Feel free to make up some background and some characters related to your background, I am still working a lot of stuff out and can incorporate probably stuff you come up with also...

You will all be working for the current house that runs the outpost, House Aleval, but you can in truth hold allegiance to others if you so wish.

Re: ooc thread
A mix suits me, but I'm easy either way. Like we're sent out into the underdark and that involves some adventure, but when we get back it turns out we were sent away so someone could manoeuvre against us while we were busy, so now that needs to be fixed. That sort of thing.

Re: ooc thread
I finally got around to making my character sheet (I had one done with a different layout, didn't like it much. This one's pretty bad too, but at least it's clearer). Still need to add a couple things, but generally, I am good to go.

My character name's Phyxfryn Adin'ree (first is his given name, second he adopted) and he's crazy enough not to have Eldritch Blast (at least until we hit lv.4).

Re: ooc thread
Since we start with 1000 extra gold pieces, I would suggest looking into magic items - at our level and with our funds, we're looking at Common and Uncommon items only.

Common items range between 50-100GP. These are health pots, potions of climbing and spell scrolls of 1st level and below (cantrips), as well as generally useless, but fun items such as... Cast-Off Armor, which lets you take it off within a turn, instead of your usual doffing time; Orb of Time, which lets you determine if it's morning, afternoon or night while you're holding it; Wand of Smiles, your target needs to make a DC 10 Charisma saving throw, or be forced to smile for a minute...

Uncommon items range between 101-500GP. Uncommon items include scrolls of 2nd and 3rd level, a bunch of potions and more or less useful items. When you buy a weapon or an armor that doesn't have a predetermined shape (like, say, a Javelin of Lightning), you need to add its regular cost on top of the magic item's own price (I can't quote you the exact page where it says that, though). For example, I took a Weapon of Warning in the form of a Rapier, for 525GP.

As to your regular equipment: let's be honest, Drow won't ever need torches or lanterns, unless they want to perceive colors. The things to look at would be the same as for a level 1 character, though. Regular weapons/armor - since you'd be able to get only one piece of magical equipment, two at best, if you decided to otherwise walk naked; whatever strikes your fancy from the gear list, and whatever kits you are proficient in, or think could come in handy. Try to grab at least one Potion of Healing if you have some leftover cash, seeing as we don't have a dedicated healer.

I hope not,you two blokes will be lost without a lady to show you your way and to think for you right?

I could advertise for our game and get us some fresh blood if you'd like. I'd imagine some people would be interested in our drow game...

Hopefully its just Christmas slowing the player down...

I'd not be adverse to getting one or two more players either way, but yeah, hopefully our pallylady comes back to us soon!

I want to pet the firebeetles. Pet them, and put cute sparkly collars on them, and call them Lacy and Silky and have them feast on the fresh corpses of my drow's enemies. Wouldn't that be the cutest thing.
