1003 - Where Do I Find...

There are some things I find difficult to, well, find in the RPoL GM's Menu.
If ever I have to hunt for something, it will wind up here as a Q & A.  These will be noted here as:

Q:  Where do I find the switch to turn "Accepting Players" on and off?
A:  GM Menu --> Game Settings --> Edit Game Details --> Settings block.

Q:  Where do I find the switch to make Character Sheets editable by their users?
A:  GM Menu --> Player and Character Maintenance --> Edit Character Sheet --> {Select sheet to edit.} --> Below Text Editor window, shown as "User Editable".

Q:  How do I shift a Character to NPC status?
A:  GM Menu --> Edit Players --> (Select player from drop-down list) --> Edit (Wizard) --> (Select an access level from the drop-down list) --> Update the player's access

Q:  How do I suppress display of all font colors from messages on RPoL?
A:  User Preferences --> (right hand column) --> Edit or remove your custom theme --> (at bottom of long list) check the box for "Disable colouring in messages" then click the "Create" button.
Q:  Where do I search Game Ads by Author?
A:  Forum Menu --> (Lower Left Corner) --> Search (3rd from Left) --> (Click the radio button for Poster and fill in a search string for the poster, typically their RPoL screen name)
BONUS:  To search by Subject (Game Name) do as before, but click the button for Subject instead of Poster, and fill in the name of the game.

Q:  How do I stop advertising for a game?
A:  Short of deleting the original post in your game ad, simply stop accepting players within that game (see Q001, above) and your ad will update automatically to notify readers the game is no longer accepting players.  After this is done, DO NOT BUMP your ad - that is considered impolite, as it will put your "inactive" ad back on the front page.
