Altho:
I stick with CT for the most part, but I do find some value in MegaTraveller for use as source books, to supplement the main rules I use.
I'm curious, what appeals to you about MegaTraveller? Is it simply the more complete task system? I find that useful myself, but I tend to find that the overall tone of the game reduces players to insignificance. While this is true in a certain way (Its a BIG slice of the galaxy after all), the scope of what players can reasonably hope to accomplish is so small it can be discouraging (Sure, they've scored a 1,000 ton privateer, but then they come across a Kokirrak class Dreadnought, etc.)
Yeah, I like how they broke the task system down - it really clarified things for me. I tend to run a more opportunistic and optimistic
Traveller game than the "orthodox" setting would seem to suggest. I like settings like Shattered Imperium and Hard Times, and the depth of detail in the
MegaTraveller source stuff is useful for getting perspective, but I don't let myself get to hidebound by it.
