Tauron is must upset.  His swan and Compsognathus are good clean little animals.
They know where to go when they need to go!
(ok with the swan he does do it on the enemy from great height but hay).

Now say sorry for what you said.

This means if snow white is the GM at some point she going to have to play the evil queen in the game!

That picture is also a web series, where the princess do indeed play D&D, although Sleeping Beauty can't stay awake long enough to roll her dice...

Re: Ooc to the gameplay thread

Anyone want to introduce any new source material.

I have been reviewing the Dirty Tactics Toolbox and see some nice things in it that might be useful for some PC builds.

For example this feat:
Dirty Fighting (Combat)
You can take advantage of a distracted foe.

Benefit: When you attempt a combat maneuver check
against a foe you are flanking, you can forgo the +2 bonus on your attack roll for flanking to instead have the combat maneuver not provoke an attack of opportunity. If you have a feat or ability that allows you to attempt the combat maneuver without provoking an attack of opportunity, you can instead increase the bonus on your attack roll for f lanking to +4 for the combat maneuver check.

Special: This feat counts as having Dex 13, Int 13, Combat Expertise, and Improved Unarmed Strike for the purposes of meeting the prerequisites of the various improved combat maneuver feats, as well as feats that require those improved combat maneuver feats as prerequisites.

I think the group is a little disjointed on whether to rush out and find the staglord, or hunker down and ready for an attack.

Re: Ooc to the gameplay thread

That’s a great in character as well as ooc discussion

The fort is sound and has numerous defenders:
Imiria is working on getting Vellek to stay he is a great archer
Two witches
Details might be useful as well such as stubborn nails donated to the defense; etc
Lots can be done to fortify further

Going out
Pros/Cons

Getting more information?

Re: Ooc to the gameplay thread

If we stay close and do day trips out in small groups we can keep the area stable and maybe gain enough exp to level.

Also we could spend time stocking up on scrolls and potions for the battle.

Re: Ooc to the gameplay thread

I think it would be prudent to start sending out patrols. Maybe in the direction of the bandit fort.  Is this the Stag Lord's fort or a different one?

Drez can't do much to boost up the forts defenses outside of manual labor. It would be a good fit for him.

Re: Ooc to the gameplay thread

Drezghl and Tatyana might be able to help with traps in the immediate area.  Range out around the fort by painting the sides of rocks facing the outpost for archers.  Number of tricks to come up with.

Well knowing the area and setting up firing markers help.

My swan can make regular flights as well.  Get good lay of the land.

Re: Ooc to the gameplay thread

I am going to say theoretically that setting range markers and range cards as well as creating interlocking fire should have an in game mechanics effect.

Any suggestions?
Ideas
1. Halving range penalties
2. ?

Re: Ooc to the gameplay thread

I like the idea of halving range penalties.  Not sure of interlocking fire outside of possibly an advantage (+1?) to hit if both archers are firing at the same target?

If we are looking to fortify, then barrels of already drawn water with buckets around the fort, if anything to help fight fire or soaking exposed walls as much as possible.  Druid with a flying animal companion is invaluable.  sharpened spikes at the base of the walls to slow down climbers.  Dig a shallow pit behind the gate inside, small blocks of wood with nails through them for crude caltrops.

Re: Ooc to the gameplay thread

Or maybe if two archers have the same target and “interlock” they can add damage (similar to the clustered shots feat) that helps overcome damage reduction

Yes the movie Oleg’s alone

Re: Ooc to the gameplay thread

Maybe but I would say a dedicated spotter (an experienced NPCs/follower with the right equipment)
Much like a sniper has a spotter could give the aid another action to an archer (or perhaps two if the arrows fletching was a different color)...

I must rethink some new NPC’s that can be hired.....

Maybe there's a feat where one guy can call out and then give aid to everyone in a group.

Re: Ooc to the gameplay thread

Well the helpful trait is a basis, but most group bonuses are class specific Bards inspiration, cavalier banner, Paladin etc.

Helpful

You always know the best way to assist your companions, be it assisting them with a task, defending them in battle, or helping them place a well-aimed strike.

Benefit(s): When using the aid another action, you grant your ally a +3 bonus instead of a +2 bonus.
