Re: Into the stolen lands to route the bandits from their camp

Kesten takes note that there are two additional men with you who are unarmed.

"Are these men prisoners then?"

The boy smiles and produces a sack of sugar cubes and has no trouble from any of the horses.
Oleg nods..."He's a horse whisperer fer sure."

"Yes they are," he responds to Oleg. "Might want to keep them working on separate tasks from the others just to make sure they don't try anything funny."

Tauron smiles at the boy.
He gets of his horse and looks at the boy.
He hands over his horse to the boy.
Any good with birds and dinosaur?
Animals a wonderful creature to talk to.

The elf heads into the fort.
His two friends follow him.

Raz grins and leans in to whisper to Oleg.

"Best keep an eye out for them though. If you have any trouble let Octavia know. She has already spent some time separating bandit heads from shoulders and seems more than happy to finish off the whole lot."

Then he proceeds to march straight for the young lad.

"Ah, well met Sir Groom. Are you interested in epic tales of sword and sorcery? I may have just the tale for you..."

The boy considers the offers and says
”Any company is good, but I have to work or Mister Oleg says he is going to put me out on my ear.”

Drezghl went briefly to the bunkhouse to drop his pack and bow.  He went back outside and climbed up the ladder where Imira was working on the roof.

"Imira.", he said in a voice that was loud enough to be heard over the wind.

"I came up to tell you that Kressel is dead. Tatyana struck the final blow. She will torment and kill no longer."

Imira
“Careful you do not fall.  Ah yes it seemed likely she would die soon.  Did you capture any?”

From your vantage point you see that the one handed girl has help, her raven holds the nail in its beak as she starts it...
The bird is not having too much trouble with the wind, nor is the girl....

“Tomorrow someone with more hands and strength will need to bring more cedar shingles, to the roof.”

"We brought back two prisoners.  Idiots. Both of them.  Octavia has spared them so far but promised to carry out their death sentence in the event of treachery or misconduct."

Drezghl nodded toward the bird.

Your friend seems quite helpful. Find me in the morning.  I'll bring up the shingles"

Imira smirks...
“Why spare idiots, there are already too many roaming the earth.”

She walks to the edge of the roof and steps off, magically drifting down to the ground..

Tauron looks at Imira and smiles.  Pleased to see the girl is doing well.
I see your not shy with displaying your skills.
It was my understanding that open display of them usually did not fit well with other humans?

Drez watched the girl float to the ground and then climbed down the ladder.

"I agree.  They say that they are hunters, but I wonder if they know what end of the arrow to nock.  Hopefully, Oleg will find a use for them somehow. I work to do as well so I will see later this evening."

Octavia was passing by and chimed in.

"I say they are living on borrowed time. Let them use it as best they can."

Although her voice was stern those that looked could see a slight smile on her face.

Imiria shrugs...
"Perhaps I will inspect your prisoners; I am uncertain of society, I traveled with only my mother and father, it was they who taught me and those ways were unlike any we had seen before."

She smiles a bit and adds
"The men here see the value in my ability to heal and soothe, thus they know not fear."

Re: Into the stolen lands to route the bandits from their camp

The dinner is delicious a large pot of fresh stew, roasted root vegetables, fresh churned butter, fresh baked loaves of bread, still piping hot.

Those wishing to converse over dinner can...

Oleg stretches when he is full and grabs his ledger offering to review the wagon of goods...

The captain of the guard looks over the map of where the bandit camp was located....he appears to be wanting to discuss issues related to the defense of the fort...

Seeing no one else volunteer, Tatyana speaks to Oleg and offers to show him the goods recovered and stored in the wagon. She whispers to the captain that she will follow up with him later to find out what issues remain and which ones were solved in the defensive preparations for the fort.

Re: Into the stolen lands to route the bandits from their camp

Oleg gets to calculating the goods on the wagon and he shakes his head at the strange herbal liquor.
“I got no idea about this stuff, looks like even the bandits didn’t drink it!”
Imira happens by and turns her nose up at the stuff...

Meanwhile kesten looking at the map....
“Thinking the next supply train that comes in a posse of riders might want to ride the full area around Oleg’s.”
He pauses and then adds
“Also might not want any more former bandits in the fort.  Too many people to watch to keep things secured.”

Walking up, he catches just the end of the Captain's sentence. "If it helps, at least while I'm here, I'll offer to help guard the prisoners."

"When do you expect the next supply train?", Drezghl asked.

"I can't speak for the others, but I would be willing to ride out on patrol and to meet it to ensure it's safety. It depends on future plans, of course."

He leaned in and spoke softly, his words meant only for Kesten, "I have to admit that criminals are not the best source of new people to man this stronghold and future settlements, but they seem willing to work and make amends for their ways. The new ones said that they were pressed into service to Kressel under pain of death.  For some, options are not always found."

Re: Into the stolen lands to route the bandits from their camp

Raz let out a silent but still exaggerated yawn.

"Ugh...patrol? I thought we were here to explore. Let the guards handle the carvan, we have many more sights to see. Plains to the West! Forests to the South! Hills to the East! And South! I mean let's be honest it's almost all hills and forests around these parts.

We can sit here playing defense but we cannot watch every caravan that comes along or else we'll never get anything done! Instead we should be out there in the wild yonder looking to strike at these bandit nests and scatter them to the winds."

He gestured out towards the rolling hills and woods to the South out beyond the walls.

Oleg offers a generous by out of the wagon and goods at 80 cents on the dollar and will hold the liquor and attempt to sell it on consignment to visitors to the trading post.
....one of the former bandits pipes in...
”Kressel wanted to pay tribute to the staglord with that stuff, going to get a permanent job at the fort proper.”

Kesten
”We can handle the patrol with the next group that comes in, no way to say for sure an arrival day.  The girl somehow knows a day in advance.”

Re: Into the stolen lands to route the bandits from their camp

Raz listens to the bandit and holds up a hand.

"Wait wait wait. Please continue that line of thought. They were going to use the wine to bribe the stag lord? Perhaps we should keep it. I have an idea.

What if we were to say we were sent from Kressel? Bring a wagon full of furs and other trade goods and most importantly ALE! All the wine and alcohol necessary to get the entire bandit camp rip roaring drunk. Then when they all pass out from too much partying we can slap the cuffs on all of them and march them back to Brevoy to face proper justice!"
