Re: OOC Chatter (2)
No, I was going for a professor of something aspect before I became aware of the resident poison ivy. I was already leaning towards Herbology, learned of it and was amused by the aspect of having find that rare plant adventures. Then I learned there was a Herb witch, and thought YES, that my character hook right there.
I'm leaning more towards the botanist version of Indian Jones, an adventurer but far closer to mildly mad scientist(my familiar) or Daniel Jackson. I'm here in the region because i'm a good influence in a organization that might be less good, I'm here to get down to business and catalog all the plant and thier uses in the region before humanity moves in and ruins the environment and gets sick from them. He lives plants like a nerd lives sci-fi. Eilyne would probably more curious about her symbiotic situation to his logical side then his other brain, and if she made early advances he would probably categorize her as out of his league, a bit too forward, or even dangerously hot which would put him off quite a bit. He isn't used to forward women, and still lives in a world where women are place a bit higher in status and expecations.
I'm a excitable chap with a penchant for getting lost in recording things, learning new things, exploring new things, and otherwise mastering the knowledge of unusual and dangerous plant and their uses. You live in a world where moving, eating plants are the norm, there is bound to be excitement everywhere. Plants in hard to reach places, plants in dangerous locations, plants with unsual traits or adapations, plants with unusual uses. Always collecting, recording, rooting around. He's obsessed and he is ok with that, and lets it drive him.
It's a great way to bring the character into the setting with his own baggage, intentions, and even work arounds without dragging others down. Rather then ask a wizard to case fly spells, we can just go out get get some insert magical variety of cotton candy that lets us fly. Controlled and useful madness at the dm's convience.
Also everyone, the dog is doopy, good with kids, and otherwise house trained. It would rather run away then fight a normal frog, It's just a big lazy mutt when it isn't told to track or given something to drag around. It might roll some kegs around if it gets bored, but no one should feel threatened by it unless they would fear a pony or a mule. If you shoo it away it will shoo easily. It's like the stoned hippy version of a dog. This dog would love nothing more then pulling october hay rides full of kids around, or snoozing in the sun, or being helpful.
Feel free to include it in role play, as it's a bit of a prop, just remember it's a friendly coward, and it thinks it's as small as a house cat.
