The Rules

(Shout out to an awesome GM who I just blatantly stole this from! Many thanks.)

The rules are pretty basic and probably won’t go into too much detail - as I assume that basic courtesies should always be exercised. However, just in case…

1.) It’s all in the details! - Do try to put in as much details in your posts. It’s not only helpful in creating a well-written response from your buddies, but it also lends more insight into your character. Even though this game does have a fair amount of GM-pushed plots, the game still relies on character development.

2.) Let us know! - If you plan on being absent, please do try to make it known. Either post it in the absent thread or tell the GM/DM/Almighty Ruler and make sure we can move you to a more isolated area where your lack of posting won’t hinder others. I will give you updates if anything major has happened in the meantime.

3.) Create a story - I personally love adding in rifts between characters. Not so much between players. Feel free to have friendly rivals, not-so-friendly rivals, lover(s), and any sort of drama (friendly or not friendly) in character. I expect players to maintain a level of maturity where if their characters are enemies, then they keep a good attitude between players. This is a story and a story is always a bit more better with conflicts in my book.

4.) Keep it real! I have marked this as a mature game - given the potential young ages of the characters and to allow players of all ages to participate. I believe we all have the mental capacity to not take things personally (or as a personal attack) as well as being able to be upfront and “real” with other players. (Also the ability to discuss things with other people). This also includes informing me if I made a mistake too! I’m human, and though I have learned quite a bit over the years, I can make always make an ill-informed decision. (As much as I don’t want to.)

5.) I’m here drive the plot forward, and to mediate and keep it chill - If there is a problem between players rather than characters, then hit me up. I’ll try to mediate the conflict and help resolve it.

6.) Give everyone a chance! - Don’t godmod. Don’t speed mod (out post/type other players). If you need a GM or another player to post, and haven't seen them, it's ok to politely poke them in a private message. Especially me!

7.) No combat deadlocks. - This can pretty tricky. Combat scenes (especially when it’s pvp) can become very drawn out. If it the scene gets to an absurd deadlock, I will step in and give you two options. You decide who wins (and write it out from there) or I roll a random dice and give out a winner. If I roll the dice and you don’t like it, then feel free to write out who wins. At least we made a decision. The only exception to this is if the deadlock is a part of the story or it was intended to happen. This usually happens on my side though and I’ll find a way to make a belligerent officer scold you!

8.) Have loads of fun! - While the main story might seem to be a bit more on the serious side, there are plenty of opportunities for light-hearted fun. Take advantage of those frilly light-hearted missions. Send me some ridiculous mission ideas if you have any! Take up those “Lab Rats” missions! The officials of the official research group would love to have you as their guinea pigs for the day.

Bonus RTJ points! Please include in your RtJ the number of times I’ve used an exclamation point. Bonus points if you find any typos or grammatical error.

If you have the purchased copy, let me know if there's any extra content you want to try out.

Disclaimer: I'm still pretty new to some of the more nuanced systems and aspects of SWN:R - so with humility, we can learn together.
