Alright we now have a full party 5 with 2 more that have expressed interest.

Vidar son of Fror       Dwarf (Iron Hills)         Oathsworn/Warrior
Halldora of Dale        Barding                    The Harrowed/ Scholar
Gundri Coopersson       Dwarf (Lonely Mountain)    Seeker of the Lost/Treasure Hunter
Asgrim                  Dunedain                   Lure of the Road//Wanderer
Thiriswen               Elf of Mirkwood            World Weary/ Warden

Have a bit of introductory Roleplaying to get you all to 'meet' each other and then start off on the first adventure.

Cheers!

Question for the Loremaster. Do you have a specific format you would prefer IC posts?

The way you posted is fine.

-Spoken words should be in a different color, bold is fine but not necessary.

-When the character is thinking something; italicized and in a different color.

-OOC: At the bottom of the post with any of your rolls and actions that you did.

Cheers!

Hey, everyone!

Just wanted to say hi, I think I'm done with most of my preparations and I'm super excited to play.

Thiriswen is a warden, and brings with her lore-knowledge, survival and elven stealth and perception. She can probably be useful as a hunter, scout or look-out, and even a guide in a pinch.

Vidar is good with survival, and history, as well as being a mastersmith.  He is also iseful as a short, mobile wall.  *L*

Hello to one and all!

I am that last add, a woodsman known as The Blackfeather.  I am looking forward to getting started.  Unfortunately, I am spoken for tonight and tomorrow as I am packing up my mother's house before the house is sold off.  Please do not wait for me to proceed, and I'll ret-con my way into things when I'm back on Sunday.

Sorry for the hiccup right at the start!

Feel free to post in both threads.

Prologue is designed to introduce the party and bring you together over a shared event-the fire.  Then you can talk amongst each other.

ACT 1-is the start of the first adventures

As we get started need to get some basic actions covered:

Here is what I think might be best looking at your character sheets:  Also Haladora has dropped from the game.

1.  Role on a Journey:

   Guide:  Asgrim
(In Charge of all decisions concerning route, rest and supplies.  Guides rely on Wisdom and Survival proficiency)

   Scout(s): Thirswn and Vidar
(In charge of setting up camp, opening new trails.  Scouts rely on Stealth and Investigation.)

   Hunter(s): Blackfeather
(In charge of finding food in the wild.  Hunters rely on success with Survival checks.)

   Look-Out(s): Gundri
(In charge of keeping watch.  Look outs rely on their abilities with Perception.)

2.  Position in a Fight-
    a.  I break the combat into FRONT rank and BACK rank for the party and adversaries. (Borrowed from The One Ring RPG)
    b.  As long as a side has more(not equal) FRONT rank members than BACK rank members, the other side can not get melee attacks against the BACK rank.

  FRONT:  Gundri, Asgrim, Vidar

  BACK: Blackfeather, Thiriswen

Have added a new thread in House Rules called Age and Family.

While I have no illusions about reality here on RPOL-this is designed to be a campaign.  I will be here-(Have another game on RPOL that is crossing 3 years)

We are utilizing the 'Mirkwood Campaign' as our back drop and it does not expect  that the same character that starts will be at the end.(Except maybe Dwarfs or Elfs)  If you have ever played Pendragon you can tell the authors have drawn heavily on that theme.

The game fully expects that characters will die or retire from adventuring and pass the mantle onto a younger generation: Bilbo to Frodo, Gloin to Gimli, etc, etc.

The Campaign starts in 2945 four years after the Battle of the Five Armies and could go through Saurons Invasion of the North in 3019.

We will average 1-2 adventures per game year (some years will have no adventures)-so your character will age 'quickly'.  The game will give you many incentives to replace your characters at points:  Age out, die in combat gain responsibility (Lordships and land), or grow weary under the Shadow..  All could be interesting and effective ways to tell your characters story in Middle Earth.
These rules and adjustments reflect this and also give you a sense of each Cultures age categories in Middle Earth.  Most of you have selected ages that make you Young Adults or even younger than what is considered 'adventuring' age-children in fact.

Read the thread and let me know if you want to adjust your age, add a younger sibling, spouse/ betrothed or even child to your history.  Feel free to modify your backstory s required.

Young Adults are considered the 'Default' during character creation.  Younger or older characters take the bonuses and penalties.  (they are cumulative)
