Re: Rest
All, I am taking a few days of vacation and my responses may be slow.  I will be back on Monday and will catch up then if I have fallen behind.

Re: Rest
I'm here too.  I'm going to wait for the other group's response to Saba's post; I wasn't sure if they were headed to the chief directly because they described him as "back that way," suggesting a direction different than where they were going.  So, I'm hoping the response clarifies things for me and Ralph.

Re: Rest
Yeah, I got the impression that the their chief is where they are coming from, not where they are currently going.

Yes, stick with the original plan to stay the night in the derelict building.  This saves gold on the toll back and forth as well as what the inn might cost.

See, this is where the gap between "game time" and "real time" combines with my memory to cause problems . . .

Re: Rest
Right there with you Ralph.  Since I'm guilty of not continually backreading, I'll go with the flow of whatever we originally decided.  To be fair, only roughly 5-6 hours have passed since the simple decision, but it's close to 6 weeks of our time.

Kudos to you DM for the date and time clock at the bottom of each of your posts.  They are a great help thanks.

Previous Chapters
I'm happy to reconsider the policy of hiding closed chapters if it's having a detrimental effect on the game. I do want the dungeon to be something that evolves with the actions of the PCs and NPCs. And there are stories to be told. But if people are struggling to pull together the strands of those stories because they're separated by months of real-world time then, on balance, it might be better to leave all chapters open for reference.

Any opinions either way?

I'm still preferential to keeping previous chapters hidden.

Despite my mind lapse, I think I am still too.

I'll try to keep better track.

Re: Previous Chapters
I have to admit that I don't really have a clue what we're doing here and why. So, in that respect, it would be nice to have the old threads visible to review. But I think we're probably due for an in-character conversation about objectives, which would certainly help (help me, at least).

Re: Previous Chapters
My understanding is this Northman chief will pay for maps of the uncharted region (dungeon?) and we were going to do it.  So far we haven't been commissioned to do the job though.

Our pending decision is going to be, do we do the work and then hope he pays, or 1st get the commission and then do the work.  The treasure we uncovered in our mapping process will most likely be greater than whatever he might offer, so it probably matters little, but with a little luck he might offer us some supplies that make things slightly easier for us.

Given our lighting situation, and the as close to real as possible line our DM is playing, extra supplies might be helpful.

I do like the concept of having the back threads closed, but if I'm honest, I'm really not going to take notes as we go as the work required to play in the game increases to a level I find greater than my threshold of enjoyment, especially since character survival at this point in time is knife-edge stuff.

For me anyway, it will probably make my posting a little more vanilla as places and names are forgotten, but I guess it is all part of the balance.

I will admit it has been quite nice not needing to do any back-reading because I know the information I seek isn't available anyway, but potentially I'm becoming an even more lazy poster.  Just my 2cp worth.

Re: Previous Chapters
I think the reason for being in Forestfell is exploration and possible finding of treasure.  Alhough individual purpose might have been created by players from the rumours.  The mapping for northman chief is secondary objective really that developed.  The big surprise i think was the tavern at the entrance as Forestfell was thought to be an ancient out of the way place.

Saba it would be good if you could post your scratched beer mat map.

Characters could always ask Delia what's going on.  She seems to think she knows what's going on.

I agree, and that was my initial intention, but I got caught short when I set the time aside to draw the map and discovered all the back threads were hidden.

As it was already an impossible task to recreate the turns we had taken from memory and the group decision was to keep the history hidden, I did the very mature thing of throwing my hands in the air and saying an adjective or two and not bothering any further about it.

Re: Previous Chapters
Lol. That is such a Saba thing to do. ;p

Maybe if you did try one though, and posted it, would be much appreciated.  And do from your player memory doesn't matter if not right we could get Delia to look it over with an Int check and make adjustments.

Starting from door at the tavern i can remember :

steps then long corridor
Church with hole in roof, floor and holes in walls on right
Some kitchen thing on left with 3 rooms,  pump and rats
Then further on corridor
Left turn to kobold barricade
I don't think the guy here was the northman chieftan but that might be wrong
Then on to t junction
Left unknown but better made corridor
Right to bats and cavern with frogs buildings and fissure path where we are now

Cheers, i know it is an ask.

Re: Previous Chapters
Thanks for the feedback everyone. It's really useful to understand where you all are with this.

This is what I am going to do ...

For one week only, I will open up all the previous chapters. This will allow those who are so inclined to refresh their memories of past events and make any notes or maps if they wish to do so.

After that week, I will keep just two chapters open - the current one and the most recently completed one. This will avoid the situation of past chapters disappearing unexpectedly.
