Marching Order
Use this thread to describe the party's default marching order for normal dungeon exploration.

Please also specify each character's default state when exploring (e.g. weapon readied, carrying light source, mapping, scouting, etc.).

Heebie will be up front. As a cautious Risk Assessment Engineer, he is quite slow and methodical and takes his time scanning the floor, corridors and ceiling before moving forward. He carries a torch and shortsword - the torchlight to spot unusual shadows and the shortsword to tap or poke anything else out of the ordinary. When away from the other humans he does not use the torch, but relies on his infravision.

Delia finds the center of the party to be her best vantage point.  She also carries a torch because it would be foolhardy to trust a halfling to light the way.  She'd found them to be less reliable than the children they resembled.

Carrying the torch also allows her to direct it where she may in order to build a mental map of their progress.  She can't share her map with the others but it gives them an incentive to keep her alive if they themselves wish to survive.

Ralph would be nearer the front, where he can fulfill his main purpose: absorbing fatal blows so that others don't have to.

Solomon is relatively heavily armored. To give us a rear guard, perhaps I should be at the back? Big downside: clerics can't use ranged weapons. Alternatively, if Alwin is a fighter/magic-user, maybe he could be the rear guard and I take a position with Ralph behind the halfling.

Regardless, Solomon will carry his shield and mace (swapping out to carry a torch or lantern in situations where that is called for).

Alwin is fine taking the rear guard position in the party.  Normally he will still have his longsword readied and have a free hand for casting spells as required.  He depends on the light provided by other party members or his infravision if no light is available.  He is constantly scanning areas the party passes for secret or hidden doors in case the others do not detect one as they travel.

So, on the battlemat, I have you something like this for a standard 10' wide corridor. OK for everyone?

Looks good.  Heebie looks scared to death out front.

Approaching every door Heebie will routinely search for traps and then listen. In case I forget to post that.

Before you proceed through the northerly door, can I just check:

1. Where Saba will fit into the marching order.

2. Whether Delia (and any alongside/behind her) is going to maintain a gap to the lead group as she did through the entrance cavern.

3. Who is carrying any active light sources.

Delia has a light source and will maintain a 10' gap in front of her.
