chit-chat

I'm glad everyone is okay! I've been lucky enough not to be in any accidents yet...  *knuckles head*   knock on wood.

I want everyone to understand that I will never badger anyone about posting in this game. These things have a tendency to fizzle out on their own if they aren't going anywhere. While I hope this game doesn't, I'm okay accepting the reality if it does. If a few months go by, and I don't get posts from a player... well, odds are, I'll wait a few more months, and your character will just be there in limbo. Long-story-short, yeah, I'll wonder where you are, but I won't ever be upset if you stop posting.

Just do me one solid: if the game sucks and that's why you're leaving, let me know. I don't want to prolong anyone else's suffering because I have this grand picture of my game being fucking spectacular, you know what I mean?

On a different note... if this game does become something my players all enjoy and we get to telling some awesome stories, do I have provisional permission to make small corrections in everyone's writing?

I was sent into this world with the unfortunate birth-defect of being a god damn grammar nazi...  I really like to write. When things are a bit cocked-up, it honestly drives me up the fucking wall.

I am by no means willing to completely rewrite anyone's work, but if I could tweak things here and there when I see them, it would help my psychosis grow into new and more disturbing heights.

Having said that, anyone that points out a mistake in my writing, will get 3 CP for each instance. That could add up...  or could it..?    >:)

Weigh in. Let me know how you feel about it. Shit, you never know... this may be a book someday. Don't make me proofread every god damned post from every god damned thread...

(Note the note below suckahs!)

1) The game is good so far, no problems at all. It's pretty cool and a kind of unique world that incorporates elements of fantasy, wild west and steampunk.

2) Ill let you know.

3) I don't mind you making edits to my posts. The scrutiny probably will make me pay more attention to my posts anyway. If you do it tough, it'd be nice to highlight it somehow - if only for the element of learning.

4)

I believe correct grammar is: "... or could it? ... "

Add 3 CP to your character sheet Arlend!

I learn something new every day.

I do get carried away with an ellipsis here and there, from time to time...

*Hrmph!* My writing is a masterpiece that should never be touched. Any changes will disrupt my flow and the natural flow of my chakras!

Jk, I'm fine with whatever. ;)

Lol, slow on weekends because I am on my phone, which also has adverse effects on spelling and grammar, so I am fine!

So, actually... I was going to have Arlend cut an 'X' into their chests, above their hearts.... or do something else that would indicate the thing, like Zorro's Z... like cut off their little finger, or thumb or something.

It was gonna go pretty harsh - hence why he sent away the young'ns. But ultimately the only reason it didn't happen is because "charitable" he let the blade go down with the man so he didn't bleed out before getting some treatment from the guards.

It's kinda silly for the ghost of the land to ask one of the children for a knife...

But maybe I should have done it anyway.

:D

Thanks!

Play it how you want. Keep in mind these aren't pampered kids from the suburbs. None of those things would be anything they haven't seen before...  or worse.

This isn't a kids game either. Things will get dark from time to time.

Are or aren't?

I assume they're probably quite used to seeing drunken fights and brawls and seeing people get stabbed every now and then. Not to mention I expect that more than a few of them have been on the bad end of the aggro-stick from time to time.

Gems

I've started a new thread that I've tagged as a 'Notice' where I will go into the basics of what gems are, where they come from, what they mean and how they work.

From here I will inform each player of the information their character should have about them as they ask around to learn more.

Sound cool?

Are there different kinds of gems?

Can we make lightsabers?

Lightsabers...

Invest in some engineering skills and find out! Or find a skilled engineer and pay him copious amounts of dough...

I'm not here to limit you, but I ain't gonna easy either...

Heh heh heh...

Gems all work the same. They store energy. How this energy is discharged is the variable that can be changed.

Spirals

That is too fucking cool...

What are the odds of that happening?!

That must be a shell, that fossilized and then gems grew inside?

We made it to 500 posts! Probably isn't a big deal for the rest of you, but I'm pretty stoked.

Everyone add 5 CP to your sheets.

CP

Yes indeed.

You can spend any character points I hand out any time you want. I think it's kind of dumb making players wait to spend character points... or make them spend them at a given time instead of saving them up.

I'll leave all that to you guys.

Spirals

Yea, it's exactly that.

The shell gets trapped the crystals grow inside and then the shell mineralises.

Going strong too! Haha, these CPs are coming thick and fast, I should probably start spending them soon. I'm saving up for now - because I kinda like that I have to think laterally to get over some problems. Jumping into a crowd of hardened sailors (something something mum joke) is more of a frightening experience when you're not a weaponmaster with 25 in skill, and wielding a legendary sword of cutting, infused with the spirit of the god of war.

I mean.... Obviously being a weapon master with level 25 skill wielding magical artefacts is also very awesome, just in a different way.

But it's nice to have so many options available - and I like seeing how stories pan out to see where the points will go. More IQ? More social stuff, more gun-toting madness?!

Comes down to fun

I'm glad to hear you're having fun, that is in fact why we play. I am not personally a big fan of being pigeon-holed into specific roles either, which is why I try not to subject my players to that. That and it makes me have to think around problems too.

I'm fine with it, but before I divulge info on anyone else's characters, I will have to get permission from them.

Kerrick, Alfonso, weigh in!

And needless to say if I give you their info, they will get yours.
