The beastman is faster than he looks.  With an envious snarl, he stabs at Gristle...

06:13, Today: Bigredtwenty rolled 1 using 1d6.  Damage.
06:12, Today: Bigredtwenty rolled 11 using 1d20.  To hit w/spear.

Right in the appendix!  Gristle is hurt but still alive.

Your turn to fight!

Re: Sailors on the Starless Sea main gameplay thread.

"You're going to wish you hadn't dropped out of obedience school," Pedram says to the beastman as he swings the mace at its head like he's playing tee ball, "while you're trying to fish your head out of the water!"

OOC:
02:21, Today: Puppeteer rolled 2 using 1d20+1.  Attacking the beastman with the chaos dude's mace.

I think we all saw that one coming.

Also, I'm going to have to look back at the last few posts, but I'm pretty sure that some idiot who looks a lot like me left Lord Fernroar's longsword up on top of the ziggurat. If so, maybe when the volcano finally blows it'll get thrown into the air and land on the boat without impaling anyone.

That sounds like a luck test, doesn't it?

:)

Re: Sailors on the Starless Sea main gameplay thread.

Tarlton, angry at the attack on his friends, fires off a might shot from his dart.

10:50, Today: Oofi rolled 18 using 1d20. Tarlton attack

“HA! Take that!” He cries and does a short (hopefully not premature) moonwalk of victory.

10:52, Today: Oofi rolled 4 using 1d4.  Tarlton damage

Re: Sailors on the Starless Sea main gameplay thread.

Tarlton’s dart penetrates the beastman’s piggish left eye.  It gropes for it as blood gushes down his misshapen features.  It grunts like an ox, hoots like an owl and then jibbers like a monkey as he falls breakdancing to the deck.  For a few horrifying seconds it does the Centipede, then its bowels loosen and it dies.

The ship drifts away from the island as the volcano spews magma everywhere.  You hear the horrified screams of the beastmen who are stranded, trapped between the creeping fiery death on land and the tentacle-infested waters.

Puppeteer, give me a luck check, and remember that you can ‘burn’ luck points to improve your roll.

OOC:

04:38, Today: Puppeteer rolled 6 using 1d20 ((6)). Test luck.

Pedram only has 10 luck. I'm not going to burn any unless it's a life and death thing.

Please tell me this is not a life and death thing.

Re: Sailors on the Starless Sea main gameplay thread.

You notice an unidentified flying object hurling through the air in the general direction of the ship, apparently hurled from the island by volcanic activity.  It looks suspiciously like Lord Fenroar’s longsword!  Unfortunately, it plunges into the ocean a great distance from the ship.

Soon you are safely away from the self-destructing island, and will soon return to friendly shores.  YOU WIN!

Each survivor reaches level 1.  (Which one of you took the Chaos Lord’s flail?)

I’m still wanting to do Grimtooth or any other adventure if you guys are still game.

OOC:

Pedram picked up the Chaos Lord's Flail. It is in his possession right now. Gurren, if you have a character that would be better suited to wield it, assuming it doesn't curse Pedram, or kill him or something, let me know.

I'm still game for more, too.

Re: Sailors on the Starless Sea main gameplay thread.

I’ll post this straight from the book.

Topped with blackened iron and ringed with spikes,
the chaos lord’s spiked flail is a weapon of great power. In ad-
dition to being +1 to both hit and damage, once per day the
wielder of the spiked flail can wreathe the weapon in flames for
3 rounds, inflicting an additional 1d6 points of damage on a
successful strike.

I’ll get rolling on Grimtooth’s soon.  Stay tuned.

That’s pretty sweet, thanks!  I was considering making Pedram a Cleric, but with that weapon I guess Fighter is the better choice.

Good ol’ Grum will have no choice but to continue to be a dwarf.

Big Red, you da man!

Edit: I successfully fought off the urge to put that point into Intelligence and make Pedram a Wizard instead of a fighter. I reckon we'll need the muscle more than the magic.

Did y'all notice the stellar HP roll I made when I leveled him up?

Re: Sailors on the Starless Sea main gameplay thread.

Yes, still here :-)
Question: for Gurren’s cleric spells, do I choose them or is there a mechanism to roll for them.... I’m not following the book, which mentions random roll and then if they aren’t useful allowing some to be chosen, but I can’t find any table to roll against.

I’m assuming we’ll only bring one character to Grimtooth?

Hope everyone is well
