Also believe that there were some rolls to be made on the lifepath, but that seemed like it was going to be truncated a bit.

If I might recommend, a logical nerf regards the proliferation of NJP etc. that seems to crop up with alarming regularity in those charts. (The mid-campaign restart in  the 2020 game was a good illustration of how it got a bit out of hand, laughably so). If not the frequency, at least a nerf on the severity.

Maybe a look at the 'wounded' rolls as well, one player...well, lets just put it this way, they all but ran out of room for multiple award devices on their purple heart...

My poor combat controller is missing a few himself.  Shouldn't impair him (much) in completing missions, and gives him a place to hide green spray paint.

So, in line with the view that if one 'complains' one should at least have a solution, (or possible one). So to that end, maybe a modifier to the 'You Screwed Up' based on characters IQ and Military Etiquette skills. They could reflect the characters ability to avoid committing the infraction in the first place 'This is a really bad idea...', or using the system to avoid getting punished.

Wasn't it Chesty Puller who said 'There is a fine line between a Navy Cross and a courts martial."

If the modifiers aren't enough to make the 'bad man' go away. Then the aforementioned skills could mitigate the severity, for the same set of reasons, using the system to their own benefit, or whatever other fluff explanation you want to derive.

You guys will not be making a lot of rolls. Because it is realtivly pleace time people getting NJPs probably won’t get selected for Veritech trainIng.

We can skip the whole rolling thing and based on years served just give you an experience level.

So in regards to names.....I don’t really intend for the characters to meet. Sure you may have seen one of the others in a bar but had no interaction with them.

The reason being is because you are all part of different squdrons AND Air groups. There are 3 air groups around/on Macross Island.
1 is the SDF-1 Air Group(s) (there are like 3-4), along with a combination Destroid/infantry regiment
2 is the Macross Island Air Group, along with a Styker Brigade
3 is the Prometheus AirGroup.
4 is the Deadules combined Destroid/infantry regiment that also has help support.

My intent in game is for you three to just get jumbled together as a mixed flight and you’ll end up flying combat without having met your wingmen. I stole this idea from the “Wingman” series of books where the main character was part of a ferry/convoy flight when WWIII broke out and never met his wingmen either.

So your just gonna start out with designation of whichever VT you jump into as your name.

That sounds like a good plan to me, it will also make sense due to all the chaos and Veritechs being stolen here and there.

(A universal list, and then maybe a private list for the characters that's specific to them? Maybe just the positions and let us chuck in the names to keep overhead down. Kinda how you handled ground crew in the 2020 game)

That was factored in. Universal list for the ‘main characters’. Is Roy a USN Commander or a whatever. The plugin stuff would be the ‘survivors’ etc.

Nice! A thing I have been wondering about is there any stats for all of the ships in the new books? The old ones had the stats of SDF-1, ARMD and even the later had Ikazuchi and so on.

The Macross Saga source book has stats for the Prometheus, Deadlus, Oberth class missile destroyer, ARMD platform, SDF-1, Breetai’s Flagship and the Zent Cruiser.

Nice, but the newer ships are not mentioned in the other books right? I own the Shadow Chronicles and the none of the larger space craft have any stats, are they perhaps mentioned in the Expeditionary Force Marines?

Got some NPC's created. Two have descriptions/bios.

I am using NATO rank codes instead of US Military rank codes. So while Claudia is a USAF Captain/0-3, her NATO rank code is OF-2.

Since UN Spacy is a NATO organization, by all means use NATO ranks!
UN Rank is a bit weird, isn't it?  O-1 includes junior grades like Ensign, Lt-JG, etc.
OF-2 is what a UN officer on loan would wear if they are an O-3 in the US services.
Looks like tOF-1 will likely be the rank our characters may start with... though with the attrition we might go as high as OF-2 or even OF-3.

I would expect the CAG would be an OF-4.  Global should be OF-5, Misa an OF-3 or OF-4.

Interesting.  Going to look at the NPCs!

UN SPACY is a UN organization but it doesn’t  use’UN blueberries’ who have a lackluster performance.

Instead UN nation states chop people/whole commands to the UN SPACY. For example VF-84 Jolly Rodgers (aka Skull squdron).

As you have probably seen some characters have different ranks. This is because of the years of service they have put in. In fact I am going to have to make Roy a bit older.
