The 'Macross Island Air Force' was an unofficial designation that become semi official name for aircraft squadrons assigned to the island itself.

1st UN Spacy Air Group Tasked with securing/defending the airspace of Macross Island. During the Battle of Macross Island a number of fixed wing aircraft landed on the designated alternate airfield on the island Iwo Jima north of South Ataria Island. They and aircraft that were not caught within the space fold bubble of the SDF-1 are not represented. Some reserve pilots and ground crew were able to make it to shelters and survived the space fold. The recovered aircraft being uncapable of spaceflight were dismantled recycled to build veritich fighters.

The Macross Island Ground Defense Regiment is tasked with defending Macross Island from amphibious assault. The majority of the combat personnel from these units were killed either  engaging alien mecha as they stormed Macross or during the space fold itself. A number of combat personnel did manage to make it into shelters though. The majority of the non combat personnel from these units also survived.

Most of the armored vehicles that survived the battle were recycled to provide materials to build destroids. The only exception were the mecha, which were integrated into other mecha units. Some of the support vehicles (cargo trucks, jeeps ets) were converted to use an electric engine. The rest were also recycled.

The UES Prometheus is a submersible aircraft carrier, and is referred to an "Ultra Carrier" due to the fact that the vessel can accommodate up to 180 aircraft and helicopters. After the SDF-1's launch the UES Prometheus, along with the UES Daedalus will be conducting a 'Around the World' cruise. While the official nature of the cruise is propaganda, the true nature of the deployment is to destroy/eradicate several known AUL (Anti-Unification League) bases around the world.

During the battle of Macross Island the UES Prometheus was severely damaged and boarded by alien mecha. A flight of five veritechs managed to clear the deck before the alien mecha could access the hanger deck.

When the space fold occurred the UES Prometheus was in the process of rearming a large number of veritech fighters and aircraft. The two hanger decks, and a significant portion of the compartments related to rearming and refueling aircraft were exposed to the vacuum of space. The command tower had also been severely damaged and was not sealed either. As a result 89% of the ships crew complement were killed.

The conventional aircraft, with exception of some of the rotary winged craft were recycled to provide materials for building mecha on the SDF-1.

The UES Daedalus is classified as a 'Super-Large-Scale Semi-Submersible Assault Landing Vessel'. The vessel was originally meant to be an all-environment amphibious assault ship, capable of deploying a full regiment of troops on both the surface of the Earth and in space. Two sister ships, the UES Liberator and the UES Targus were built with anti-gravity pods installed and are currently undergoing space trials. The UES Daedalus is not yet fitted with anti-gravity pods but was built to include them.

After the SDF-1's launch the UES Daedalus, along with the UES Prometheus will be conducting a 'Around the World' cruise. During the Battle of Macross Island, the UES Daedalus beached and disembarked the 1st Combined Arms Battalion, and 2nd Armor Battalion. It was decided that light infantry would not be very effective against alien mecha so the 3rd Light Infantry Battalion was not disembarked. The 4th UN Spacy Rotary Wing Group was deployed to support units on Macross Island. The 4th Artillery/Air Defense Battalion remained behind as well but was deployed to the deck of the UES Daedalus to provide artillery support for units on Macross Island. A group of alien mecha tried to board the UES Daedalus but were repulsed.

When the space fold occurred the majority of the UES Daedalus was sealed up for combat operations. Only personnel in portions of the communication tower were killed because some compartments had been compromised due to damage.

All of the disembarked personnel from the 4th UN Spacy Rotary Wing Group were killed. Of the 1st Combined Arms Battalion only the personnel in Delta Company survived. In both the 2nd Armor Battalion and 4th Artillery/Air Defense Battalion a few personnel were killed due to compromised pilot compartments.

The UES Macross is the crashed alien spaceship that brought new technology to Earth and the imminent threat of an alien invasion. The vessel is scheduled to launch on February 7, 2009. After testing out the vessels various systems it's first cruise will be to link up with Space Battle Group one, compromising of two ARMD platforms (CVG-00 Constitution & CVG-01 Invincible) and four Oberth class destroyers. The two ARMD platforms will dock with the SDF-1 and a space fold will be conducted to the orbit of Mars. The SDF-1 will then make an assessment as to whether or not Mars Base Sara can be repaired.

When The Battle of Macros Island began four of the veritech squadrons assigned to the SDF-1 were parked on the tarmac. These veritech squadrons were supposed to escort the SDF-1 into orbit and recover when at LEO (low Earth Orbit). As such, VF-1 “Wolf Pack” (USN), VF-84 “Jolly Rogers” (USN), the 4th Naval Fighter Regiment (PLANAF), and the 302nd Tactical Fighter Squadron (JASDF) were scrambled and engaged trans-atmospheric alien fighter craft. When Captain Gloval ordered the SDF-1 into orbit the surviving veritechs landed on the SDF-1.

Before launching from Macross Island, the 6th Artillery/Air Defense Battalion (minus Hotel Battery) and 7th Armor Battalion were deployed to combat the invading alien mecha. These units were still on the ground during the disastrous space fold and some crew were killed due to unsealed pilot compartments.

After the space fold the SDF-1 launched her remaining veritech and space fighters. The pilots of these craft had the proper life support systems for operating in space and cleared Macross Island of threats.

Space Battle Group TWO was comprised of four vessels. Two ARMD class space carriers, the UES Enterprise, (CVG-02 and US crewed), the UES Clemenceau, (CVG-03 French crewed), and two Oberth class missile destroyers, the UES Miranda, and UES Circe.

Of these vessels only the UES Enterprise was able to dock with the UES Macross in orbit, but suffered moderate daamge. The majority of her deployed air group (the 8th UN Spacy Air Group) was either destroyed or was not recovered before the SDF-1 reentered Earth's atmosphere. Although her sister ship, the UES Clemenceau had been destroyed some of her air (the 9th UN Spacy Air Group) group was recovered as well.
