“As gratitude for your services in aiding the Moonstone Kingdom, we a treasure that we’ve kept secret here for centuries...” the enchanting beautiful Queen Zoeva descended from the platform where her reclaimed throne sat, moving gracefully down the steps to the tall muscular form that was none other than the King of the Abyssal Mirror, Seth Drakon, one of the founders of the the Arcadian pantheon. She was impressed greatly by his stature and the amount of power he emitted, aside from having seen the Dragon in action with her own eyes.

She approached him and as she did, he kneeled before her, despite the fact that was leagues below him, even if she was Queen of her domain, she knew she was no True Fae. “Please stand King Drakon.” She commanded softly with a smile. She gestured with one hand to her newest advisor, a gorgeous changeling of pure white skin, pointed ears and inky black eyes, “Nyer, please bring the gift forward.”

He obediently with a genuine smile moved to push forward a cart holding a large diamond box containing an oversized navy blue egg speckled with silver and gold flecks.

Seth eyed the gift he was receiving for a moment before his vermillion gaze jump to the far right of the grand hall, where his husband stood with their son. He could already see the Mage’s mind a storm over the curious object, but his son held his breath as he looked at the grandiose scene, his fiery orange eyes locked on whatever creature was inside.

“While I appreciate the gesture, you needn’t give me anything.” Seth spoke quietly, but his voice seemed potent.

“Please, I insist...” Queen Zoeva smiled at him, Nyer hovering just a step behind her with the trolley, “Between Nyer, you and your husband, this land would’ve changed and who knows what might’ve happened. I cannot imagine what could’ve happened without you coming in when you did.”

“Very well then. I accept.” Seth barely finished speaking before the massive crowds behind them began cheering, the sound echoing and the citizens of the domain who were waiting outside the castle gates echoed the response.

“If you and your family would please, we can meet somewhere more comfortable to discuss all the details that have been left unfinished.” Queen Zoeva continued just loud enough for on,y those within a few feet could hear, “Please will you and your family stay for dinner? I promise nothing fancy.”

Seth glanced back at the two loves of his life, projecting his question of dinner to his partner, who returned the question in kind, causing Seth to smile, “Yes, I think we shall. But know that both may have a great many questions about any and everything. My love has an insatiable curiosity and our son has inherited it.”

Noah was quiet as he was prone to doing in such gatherings. He was familiar with the Fae of Seth’s Domain but not this place and so was keen to keep his silence as he observed the places customs.

He was keen to keep Slate at an arms length, he had always been protective but of Slate and Seth he was more so.

His inclinations for the Arcane tried to unravel the gift but such remind hidden to him and he would not press hard. He would follow Seth’s lead specially in this place.

Zoeva returned to her platform and gave another speech of thanks before her, her court and her guests ventured off. She had Nyer escort them to a waiting area in an open garden.

Seth looked at Noah, admiring the curious Mage, “I warned her about questioning. She’s fine with it.”

“I was not worried about that, I did not want to say anything that might embarrass you is all.” Noah said with a smile his head slightly to one side.

“The gift they gave to you seems very special.” Noah said quietly.

“She said she’ll explain exactly what it is over dinner... But based on it’s energy, I believe it’s a human fae, like what roams our kingdom, but I’m puzzled that it’s unborn.” Seth sat down on a bench, his arms crossed, looking puzzled.

“I am sure they will explain it all to us, now cheer up or you will make Slate worried.” Noah said taking a seat beside Seth and calling Slate over

“I will absolutely have a few questions of my own, although I promise the majority will belong to you two.” Seth smiled, watching as their child came toward them, “Hopefully we will not wait too long... I could hear someone’s stomach rumbling during the ceremony.”

“I wonder where he found his appetite.” Noah said with a bright smile lifting the small Slate on to his lap.

“So what do you think of this place, it is quite different then our home.”

“I will try and be civil with my appetite... I cannot help that I require such large amounts of food.” Seth replied, ruffling their son’s hair, “How are you holding up? You’ve been very quiet.”

Noah smiled. “How could I have anything else to say, this right now to me seems like a perfect moment.”

He smiled and leaned close, gently turning Noah by the chin to kiss him, “I love you.” He then took Slate onto his lap, “How’s my little dragon doing? Make any friends?”

Slate held a bright and wide smile “everyone is my friend, there are so many smiles here.”

“Everyone here is very happy right now because they have such a friendly guest with you around.” He smiled, “Is this a place you’d like to visit again?”

“Yes but not alone, it is so dark here, very different from the castle.” Slate chimed.

“You won’t ever be alone.” Seth hugged his son close, beaming with pride at the creature he ad Noah had crated together.

A servant came out from one of the corridors to find the happy family and bring them to a modest dining hall with a table that could seat a dozen, although it looked to be a small group, aside form the trio from the Abyssal Mirror, being the Queen Zoeva, Nyer and Alexos, another of her advisors.

She smiled at they entered, “Welcome gentlemen, I do hope you weren’t bored while waiting.”

“Not at all, we greatly appreciate your hospitality.” Noah spoke softly as he held Slates hand as they enters the room.

Seth nodded in agreement with Noah as they entered and sat down, leaving Zoeva at the head of the table, Nyer at her right, Alexos next to him, and their guests at her left, “You have quite a lovely domain, and absolutely there is no possible way to admire it all in a single visit.”

Zoeva smiled as she sat down and immediately servants began bringing out two plates of appetizers for each person, “We are all in close company here, please do not be shy to start or ask for more of anything you so wish.”

“Thank you... Perhaps you have gotten wind of the voracious appetite of Dragons.” Seth offered as much of a joke as he could muster.

“If they have not yet they will before the night is over.” Noah injected with some dry humor of his own before looking to Slate who was looking wide eyed at everything that was around him. The youth was clearly impressed by the elaborate elegance of the table before him and the finery that made up the decor.

“What will you do now that your issues have been resolved ?” Noah opened up conversation at the table

Every single one of Zoeva’s movements were filled with grace, even the simplest act of picking up and holding fork, “There is quite a lot to get back in order, as well as negotiations in settling all disputes with Chimera.” She smiled as she glanced at Slate, “You know if there is anything special any of you would like, just let us know.”

“No, we are gracious to accept whatever you may present us.” Seth spoke up as he eyed the salad in front of him.

“My Queen, gentlemen,” Alexos spoke up, his voice deep, “Perhaps we could meet another time to seek advice on dealing with Chimera, particularly considering the Great Dragon has obviously dealt with the creature before.”

“Indeed.” Zoeva agreed, “But there is the matter of sharing the information of our gift to you.”

“That would be good to know as it seems ... unique.” Noah pondered aloud while keeping an eye to Slate who by now had begun to fiddle with the things in front of him caring little for the adult conversation going on around him.

“This object seems to be one of importance to you and shaped by the very nature of this place, are you sure you are comfortable parting with it ?”

“We actually have a new nest of the dark phoenix eggs, although the original is missing.” Alexos commented rather casually, barely picking at his two plates of foods, both much different than anything else on the table, “Our court Oracle was able discern the identities of each egg as the Phoenix itself works rekindle others, much as the mythology goes.”

“Yes, but a small sect of the Court knows how to care for the eggs in case of such an event. But the Phoenix have mythical powers, each with their own properties.” Zoeva continued between polite bites of food, as servants brought more trays of which the diners could pick from, “I think this one in particular will be of interest to you Great Dragon. She was rescued into Arcadia from an abusive life in the mortal world.”

Seth raised an eyebrow, obviously intrigued, fork in hand and plates of green untouched, “So these eggs contain changelings?”

“So it would seem.” Noah brooded in concentration. “How should we take care of this egg now that it is in our custody?” Noah asked as he slowly touched to food.

Slate remained preoccupied with his plate nipping at the strange food before him

One of Alexos’ tendrils gently poked at Slate from beneath the table, offering him a sugary candy that was the shape of a snail’s shell, while he spoke distracting everyone else from the young Dragon, “To be fair, we should tell you both that there have always been a set number of ‘offspring’ for lack of a better work, of the the Phoenix, but the number has dwindled, which is why there’s a bit of concern about the future of this breed. I actually advised strongly against giving away one such treasure, although our Queen was persuasive. I do hope you do not take offense to my line of thought, or why we opted to leave Sini in your care.”

“Offended? Likely not. Orpheus and I have a rather eccentric view of the worlds and the inhabitants of each.” Seth plucked some fruit from the new platters placed down, as well as some form of dried meat, “But what made you change your mind about this egg, who’s name is Sini?”

“She’s... she’s been the weak link in every reincarnation. The runt of the bunch. You know well what that means.” The half-man half sea-creature continued, “She’s been least likely to reproduce given the current circumstances. No one has been sure why she’s been such a whelp. But Queen Zoeva thought there was no better place for Sini to flourish than under the care of you two.”

Slate took the sweet keen on hiding it away from any onlookers with little more then a mischievous grin on his face.

“That seems intriguing ...” the Mages Insatiable lust for knowledge began to stir. “That is a subject I would love to learn more about.” Noah was already crafting theories in his mind. Despite years of experience the Wyrd remained a most illusive subject for him to comprehend

“The way I view this is that your family gains an addition, and she gains a new lease on life because I believe you can perhaps give her something we’ve missed every time.” Queen Zoeva spoke up, signaling for the plates to be swapped out, “No one here is completely aware of the type of life she had before Arcadia. Maybe she even needs a new name.”

“Yes, that is intriguing, but I’m unsure about having to raise a baby again...” Seth glanced at Noah and didn’t miss the sly grin on Slate either.

“She will age fairly rapidly until she hits about five years of age and will she not be able to come to a human form for quite some time, until which point, she could be considered a family pet.” Alexos continued to bleed information as the small plates were cleared and drinks refilled, “Typically the others have not obtained humanoid forms until early adulthood, but they’re not completely normal looking as you might imagine.”

Slate was keen to make eye contact with Seth tossing the sweet in his mouth in an act of defiance. He knew he was caught but he was undaunted.

“We will do our best to give her what is it that she needs.” Noah smiled to Seth.

Given they were guests, Seth let it go. Kids would be kids.

“Is there anything you wish to know about her?” Queen Zoeva offered, “Alexos is a wealth of knowledge and surely can answer most questions you may have.”

A big grin came over Slates face with the sense of childhood victory.

“I think there is beauty in in uncovering what is unknown, we will take this opportunity to learn and maybe at a future point we can exchange information.”

The rest of dinner and dessert carried on with friendly conversation of both idle and grand topics. At the end of the evening, the Drakon family made way for home with their gift.

About a week later, Seth was sitting on his obsidian throne in the empty grand hall of his palace, staring at the egg which sat in a nest to one side of his seat.

“It has been a long time since I have seen you with such an intense expression, what is on your mind ?” Noah asked as he entered into the hall. “Do you think it was the right thing to take this egg ?”

“I’m concerned about the whole scenario.” Seth was easily able to break his gaze away to Noah, “Am I becoming horrible because I wasn’t appalled by the idea of having it as a family pet?”

Bosh was quick to rush across the room and take Seth into an embrace. “Never describe yourself as horrible again.” No exclaimed with certainty. “What we do with it will be our concen when the time comes, they seemed to struggle with it maybe we can help it become something more.”

Seth’s arms found their way around the Mage and pulled Noah onto on his lap. He nuzzled against his husband’s neck, “I had the idea to let Slate raise her and start him on the pathway of knowing responsibility, but the more I thought about and envisioned it, the more I felt like a monster for not minding treating this girl as a pet. I just... I cannot down that road. I don’t want to be a terror amongst our domain.”

“Then we do not have to.” Noah said in an encouraging way “but you have a good idea about having Slate take some responsibility, maybe he can give this Changeling what it needs and grow on his own also.”

“You and I need to be on the same page with disciplining him if anything goes wrong.” Seth murmured as he relaxed back into the throne, holding Noah closer still, “Sometimes in the past when I’ve yelled at him, I feel like he hates me. I know it’s part of youth, but I had no idea how badly it hurt until we had him.”

“He dose not hate you, he wants to be like you.” Noah said assuredly “you just do not see the way he looks at you when your not looking.” Noah spoke in a loving way.

He was quiet, holding Noah close and feeling at peace. “If you say so... I just want to do right by him. It’s been strange thinking I knew what we were getting into and then not having anything.”

He gently kissed the Mage’s neck before pulling back slightly to look at him, “So we shall help Slate set up for his new friend? Do you want to call him in or shall I?”

“I think you should go fetch him.” Noah proposed “it will be a good bonding experience for the two of you.”

“You will keep my seat warm then?” He stood up, bringing Noah with him but turned and leaned forward, placing the Mage on the grand throne, “Remember when you first came here? When we had so much fun in this very chair.”

“How could I ever forget such sweet memories, it seems like it has been ages but they are always with me.” Noah could not hide the blush at the mention of such a thing.

Seth kissed the Mage deeply for a long moment, before he departed for Slate’s room. It wasn’t far from where Noah and Seth shared a chamber, but was far enough to afford both adults and child their privacy. Seth changed himself to have more draconian features, long curved horns, scaled and clawed hands and feet and a long tail that tapered to a whiplike end. He changed forward, bounding into his son’s room, roaring with playfulness.

As soon as the door burst open slate jumped from the startle but recognizing the playful intent he was quick to make his way to his bed standing on it for the added height although he was still stood much shorter then Seth. The small draconic Changeling bellowed his own roar which was more of a squeak as a reply. His excitement was obvious as he jumped up and down atop the bed with brimming excitement.

Seth bounded about the room on all four potentially destructive claws before he landed just at the foot of the bed, letting out another bellowing call. He it obvious as he scuffled his backlegs slightly that he was going to jump on the bed with Slate.

“I’m here to stake my claim on these silks!” He demanded in jest. It had been a while since they’d wrestled.

“Come and try I’m so tough!” Slate was defient as he bounced towards the pillows at the head of the bed before still bouncing about.

Seth jumped, shifting back his draconic features back to human so he wouldn’t ruin the bed. He landed, grabbing Slate and rolling with him, “They will be mine!”

“Rawr.” Slate said as he tusssled with Seth his little arms trying desperately to wrap around the Dragon. His energy and excitement were plainly obvious.

“Grrr! Oh! Oh you’re so strong!” Seth wrestled them so Slate was atop his chest, “Too! Strong!” He feigned trying to push the young Dragon off.

“I win!” Slate exclaimed sitting on the Dragons chest. Feeling the starin of endless energy he laid down on his chest.

“This is what I like to see.” Noshs voice came from the doorway

“You must help me! I am trapped under his great strength!” Seth pleaded with Noah, reaching one hand to the Mage, but with the other he gently held Slate in place. He smiled at the willworker, “Sorry to keep you waiting.”

“Oh I did not mind the wait.” Noah said with a chuckle as he stepped into the room.

“Do you want to play with us to ?” Slate questiond nuzzling against Seth before popping his head up to look at Noah.

“I do not know if I can handle that, your already so strong.” Noah said taking a seat on the bed.

“I am really strong.” Slate had no problem bragging.

“He’s strong, I believe he needs a new challenge.” Seth playfully pretended to try and push Slate off with no luck before bringing his arms around their son for a hug, “What do you think about that oh Powerful Blakc Dragon of the Abyssal Mirror?”

“I’ll show how strong I am, just like you.” Slate growled with a hint of obvious fun.

“Oh careful now are you sure you can fight so many people.” Noah chuckled.

Seth sat up  and brought Slate to sit on his shoulders, “What do you say we start the next step beyond physical strength? It could be fun depending on how well you do.. And maybe, if you do well, I’ll give you these candies that Alexos gave to me to hold on to for you.” He smiled at Noah, “You think it’s time?”

“Now is as good a time as any other.” Noah agreed while Slate looked rather puzzled by what the adults were discussing he could tell it was about him but he could not grasp the full breath of what they were saying.

“Alright, come on you two.” Seth said, standing with Slate still sitting atop his shoulders. He waited for Noah and brought them to the throne room where the egg still sat on a meager nest to one side. There seemed to be an energy buzzing around it.

“Well, that’s strange.” Seth commented as he walked them closer, directing his question to Noah, “Was it like this when you left Love?”

“It was not that is rather strange ...” Noah added, the adults lack of knowing what was happening was not missed by Slate who somewhat hid seeing his parents being puzzled.

“Come now you.” Seth gently lifted Slate from his shoulders and past him to stand on his own feet. He fashioned a webbed wing that was see through and used it to act as a shield for their child as they approached, Seth leaning to one side to hold the child’s hand with the wing folded around him, “I believe we’re about to see something magical happen.”

As the trio approached, there were already a dozen hairline cracks in the shell as it became obvious that whatever was inside was hatching.

Slate kept hidden behind the wing only ever moving forward if he felt Seth moving behind him. Noah remained quiet but observant to the side of the room.

The fractures deepened and suddenly the egg splintered as an armful of downy feathers, beak and claws tumbled onto the floor a few steps from the Dragons, squeaking as it cried out.

“Are you scared of it?” Seth asked as he unfolded the wing, leaving just enough for Slate to hide himself.

Slate held the edge of Seth’s wing as he looked at the little creature sprawled out in front of him, he hesitantly stepped forward squatting down to look at the creature “Are you ok ?” Slate said softly.

It rolled onto it’s stomach and shook it’s feathered body like a dog, before peering up at Slate with large shining gray eyes that glimmered like a prism. It squeaked at him, fluffing it’s small wings at the him.

“I think she’s pretty harmless at this stage,” Seth chuckled before looking to Noah, “You think this will work?”

“Don’t be scared, your safe here.” Slate said getting on his knees trying to find the creatures “do you think it needs something maybe a blanket or something.” Slate said.

“Only time is going to show us. Show him what to do.” Noah answered with a smile.

Seth stooped low to the floor beside the two, “Well, we have no blanket in here, so how about I carry it somewhere it can call home for now? Like... your room?” The Dragon looked at Slate as he carefully extended one hand for the ball of fluff to smell.

The creature blinked between the two Dragons before squeaking and clumsily clamoring to hide it’s head behind Slate.

“I think it’s scared of me.” Seth commented bluntly, “Also, because this is a new beginning, I think we should change her name from whatever they called her to something else. Her eyes remind me of the stone Opals, so how about that? Opal sound good to you?”

“Come here Opal.” Slate said calmly as he approached it with both arms extended as he tried to pick it up. “Don’t be scared.”

The creature looked with a tilted head at Slate, unmoving as he picked her up. She chirped at Slate, her iridescent eyes watching him.

Seth smiled and glanced at Noah, “Let’s set up a little spot in your room for her. She’s going to be your responsibility.” He stood, “Of course we’re both here for you if you need us.”

Slate carried  the creature through the castles lofty halls until they arrived at his room, upon entering the room he brought the creature to the bed and placed it there” “I think you will be comfortable there, Opal.” Slate said before looking for his nearest toy and presenting it to the creature “here you go.” He said with a smile.

“NoH worked a quick spell crafting a small bed for the creature as he looked on with a smile.

Opal chirped and circled the toy with awkward steps.

Seth smiled and put an arm around Noah, “I think this is going to work out well. Maybe he won’t be so lonely.”

“It will be good for him to have a friend around and I think the added responsibility will help him grow.” Noah spoke in agreement watching as Slate tried to further please Opal.

Seth turned and kissed Nosh softly on the lips before he moved toward the bed to address their son, “Is there anything you think you want for Opal right now?”

In turn, she cooed and rolled on the bed.

“I think Opal needs something to eat and drink, it must have taken a lot of work to get out of that egg.” Slate said before hopping up on to the bed.

“Alright, and what about you? Are you hungry?” Seth asked with a smile, squeezing Noah gently to him as he watched the two kids.

Opal tried to follow Slate’s movements, but she was clumsy on her stubby legs.

“Yeah ...” Slate said obviously distracted he moved towards Opal and helped her up useing the power in his little body to help support both him and her.

“Well it looks like this is going better then expected.” Noah said with a smile on his face.

Seth couldn’t stop smiling, “Alright... Your dad and I are going to fix something for you and her then. We’ll be back shortly, okay?”

Opal chirped and squeaked, nuzzling against Slate’s hands.

“Ok I’ll be playing with Opal.” Slate said obviously distracted by Opal.

Noah tugged at Seth to follow him.

Seth grinned and swept Noah off his feet, kissing him and carrying him out of the child’s room, “So... how about I send Noelle to get some snacks of the two of them and you and I can have our own bit of fun? I miss lounging with you... Even if you’re odd.”

Opal squealed and chirped, fluttering her small poofy wings.

Noelle had received the whisper on the hot winds of the Abyssal Mirror that Seth wanted her help in fixing something up for Slate. She carted up some of his favorite snacks as well as a bowl of fruits at Seth’s request and knocked on the door, “Oh Slaaaaaaate!” She sang out, “I’ve got some goodies for yoooooouuuu!”

“And here I had thought I was beginning to lose you interest in such a way.” Noah said with a blush as he was carried away.

“Come in ! Hurry ! It’s urgent.” Slate cried out as his stomach growled with hunger

“You think I’m so fickle?” Seth asked with a smile as they came upon their room, “Then this is perhaps the best timing to change your mind.” He set Noah on their bed, immediately climbing over him and claiming his lips in a deep passionate kiss.

Noelle balanced the tray of treats in one hand and opened the door, shocked to see Slate with a living ball of down feathers. She carried the tray over and smiled as she set it on a table nearby, “You didn’t tell me you had company! So who is your friend here?”

Opal chirped excitedly at the prospect of food as she eyed the goodies.

Noah lost himself in the kiss his hands contrasting against Seth’s skin and his legs wrapped wrong the Fae.

“This is Opal, she just hatched so I am helping her learn things, she is going to live with us.” Slate said eagerly “Opal do you want a treat ? Oh and this is Noelle, she is nice.”

The Dragon’s hands moved to slip beneath Noah’s clothing, working to undressed him as they kept engaged in the kiss.

“Awww, what a couple of cuties you two are!” She gushed before bringing the tray to them for Slate to pick something, “So you need to get some for her then huh?” Her form was that of fiery siren as her form seemed to glide across the floor, her sheer orangey fins dragging on the stone floor, “Maybe if you make a list of stuff you want for her, we could go later in the week.. as long as your dads are okay with it.”

Noah relaxed in Seth’s grip opening himself to the dragons desires

Slate lives from the strange assortment of treats upon the platter presenting one of Arcadia’s oddities to Opal “This one is my favorite Opal you should try it!” Slate said with excitement. “We will be to go get lots of nice things for Opal, Noelle, like clothes and her own toys and whatever girls like.” Slate did his best to sound like a well studied five year old

Seth broke their liplock just long to pull Noah free of his shirt, his hands quickly then moving to work of removing the rest of his garments. He leaned close to his diamond whispering, “I love you.”

Noelle laughed as she watched the two. Opal nudged the favored treat to test it before looking at Slate and then trying to peck at it.

“So you write a list and we’ll go shopping, Okay my Grand Dragon?” Noelle made an exaggerated bow.

“I love you.” Noah said unabashedly relaxing his arms “we have not been able to be like this in a long time.”

“I can try to write it.” Slate responded knowing that writing was not yet one of his strongest skills. “Hear Opal let me help you.” Slate picked up the food in his cupped hands.

“I’m sorry.. I didn’t mean to neglect you or make you feel lonely.” Seth replied between soft kisses, “Would you do the me honor of allowing me to make it up to you right now?”

“Okay, it’s up to you then.” Noelle smiled as she watched Opal start eating directly out of Slate’s hands.

“You know I am always happy to be here for you whenever you need.” Noah said softly “you already have me there is no need for you to ask.”

“Look! She is eating.” Slate said excitedly “Do you like it Opal ?”

Seth smiled and then brought his lips to Noah’s once more, tasting his diamond in a deeply passionate kiss while his hands wandered over the Mage’s body.

I’m going to speed things up with Slate and Opal.

Time passed and the two children grew close, with Opal aging rapidly until she had the appearance of a small majestic bird with long tail feathers and wings, a starry night sky shifting subtly over her form. At her chest and neck it faded into a stark white contrast, but her head was a pure inky black and her eyes were unchanged. She could fly in short burst and when she opened her wings, there were still bits of soft gray downy feathers. Seth had taken it upon himself with the help of Slate to construct a perch for her on the parapets just above Slate’s room in the looming palace.

Noah was a plaything in the Dragons affection his body long knew just how to move to be in the perfect position when Seth caressed him.

“How are you doing today Opal?” Slate asked as he returned to his room from some exercise of some physical nature as he wiped some sweat from his forehead.

His hands completely freed the Awakened of his clothing, his lips eventually parting from Noah’s skin, “How long has it been since I’ve worshipped you as you so deserve?” His breath was hot and heavy as he gazed at the Mage.

Opal cooed and glided gently over to him. She landed almost delicately on her clawed feet and pranced daintily around him, nuzzling his hands with her head.

Queen Zoeva summoned her advisors to her throne with Alexos already waiting. He sighed as his meeting with the Queen had gone poorly at the news, but it was expected. The messenger went to retrieve Nyer as he was the only other one to be trusted.

“You are free to admire your diamond as you wish my dragon, I am a prize in your treasure.” Noah said with a blush his body bare before the dragon “perhaps I have not pleased you either  in some time I am sorry for making you wait.”

“How was your day Opal ?” Slate said with a smile “I hope I have not kept you waiting to long. I was out seeing some fields today and see some of the kingdoms workers. I hope I put a smile on their face.”

Nyer never missed a summons he was a master of punctuality and never missed a beet when it came to his Queen and his teacher. He was dressed in his finest and carried his typical mild manned smile as he appeared in the room.

Seth smiled, “It was through nothing of your fault. I think maybe time just slipped from my mind... But we have eternity to make it up...” The dragon kissed down Noah’s body until reaching his first goal. He took Noah between his lips and while one hand gently gripped the Awakened’s backside and he set to work.

The exotic bird cooed again and tilted her head forward like she was nodding. Then she circled him again before nuzzling his hand again.

“Nyer..” Zoeva smiled at her easily most beloved advisor despite Alexos’ far greater span of time with her, “Thank you for coming on such short notice, but we have an issue that I would like your input on.” She gestured to Alexos who stood next to Nyer.

He looked at his protege with a solemn expression, “It appears that we may need to renegotiate a gift for the Great Dragon as our Phoenix children are not repopulating. In fact, they have been sick and dying and the prospects of our last female are growing worse. We have two males that are in decent health for the time, but without the True Phoenix around, we have no way to ensure their continued existence unless they procreate themselves.”

Noah let out an unrestrained groan at the sensual treatment his hands doing little more then one grabbing the sheet of the bed the other running trough Seth’s hair even as his hips found some life of their own.

Slate was quick to caress his friend as he came to see her pulling a book off of one of his shelves and darting quickly for a plate of prepared treats. “Want me to read to you Opal ?” He asked laying the plate on a place beside him on the bed.

“How inclined will the dragon be to return what we gifted him ?” Nyer spoke in an ever sensual way with his Queen, respectful but with an air of heat to it. “Obviously we must do something but what can we do for the Dragon.” Nyer pondered

Seth continued his decadent treatment of his Diamond, his fingers growing more adventurous on the Mage’s backside.

Opal excitedly skidded over to follow him, fluttering her wings as she couldn’t decide on which side of Slate’s to settled on.

“That’s part of the problem.” Zoeva pondered as she started down the steps to level with the advisors, “Not only do we need to receive invitation to the inner Abyssal Mirror, but then we need to ask for the Phoenix he has back and offer him something else. It has been only a handful of time since then...” she sighed as she reached the bottom step, “Surely we have other treasures that our kingdom can easily part with of equal or greater value?”

Alexios scratched his chin with one hand as his eight tentacle legs adjusted slightly beneath his muscular form, “Indeed.. I suppose if you two want to brainstorm some ideas, I can go to the archives and obtain some assistance and a list of the treasury items.”

“Seth!” Noah cried out with delight squirming against sensual affection “you cannot tease me like this ...”

“Come here Opal.” Slate said gesturing for her to perch on his lap.

“What makes us so sure that we will be able to make a Dragon give up a pice of his treasure we may have to consider many possibilities.” Nyer mused.

Seth suddenly withdrew his lips and used both hands to lift Noah’s hips and brought his tongue to the Mage’s backside entrance.

Opal hesitantly set one foot on his leg trying not to scratch him before getting the other and settling onto his leg. She nuzzled her head against his shoulder before using her beak to flip the cover of the book open.

“That is.. Dragons are notorious for not wanting to give up anything that is theirs.” Zoeva commented with a sigh, “If the other remnants of mythical creatures are based off of him, then it could be an impossible task before us... But we need to try.”

Alexios shrugged, “Then we make our effort. Nyer, I think perhaps you could take our Queen to settle down. Perhaps a drink and some relaxation. I shall see what riches we might offer.”

“That spot ... it feels so good when you do that ... but please let me do something for you.” Noah groaned his eyes rolled with delight.

“Are you comfortable Opal ?” He asked opening a page in the book likely where they would have last left off. “One of these days we should go to the library I am sure they have more books for us there.” He mused.

“My lady if you would.” Nyer offered his hand with a submissive nod of his head “I have been working on a new beverage I have been dying for you to try made from exotic fruit harvested in the Hedge.”

Seth increased the intensity of his treatment, and slyly brought one hand close, his fingers intermittently teasing Noah’s entrance between laps of the tongue.

Opal tilted her head in question before ruffling her feathers so she looked almost fluffy, but it was only her display of comfort as birds tend to do.

Zoeva took Nyer’s hand as Alexios left to tend to his duties, a grin pulling at his lips. He had trained and shaped the courtesan well to serve the Queen.

“I shall try and press this stress from my mind until we know what we can offer in exchange.” Zoeva spoke quietly to Nyer, “I just cannot believe how wrong this has all gone.”

Noah’s body jutted about in greedy delight as he quivered failing at trying to keep himself silent.

With an idea that it was fair to continue Slate went on to read one of the numerous story books that lingered in his room.

“Banish the though my Queen, I am sure we will find an amicable resolution.” Nyer said leading the Queen to an area where he could properly prepare the promised beverage. “Not to sound crass or cruel but why is there such an interest held in these individuals?”

Seth grinned as he gently released Noah’s hips and climbed up his body, kissing him feverishly before bringing one arm around the Awakened’s waist and lifted him, the Dragon’s member rubbing against Noah’s soft skin, “How long I’ve yearned to hear you moan again.”

Opal listened, eventually nuzzling her head to rest against Slate’s neck as she slowly grew contented and drifted to sleep.

“Seth is the original Dragon and all tales of such creatures and those similar give him power. On top of that he is one of the original pantheon of the Faerie realms, so it was quite an honor and shock to be rescued by him...” Zoeva watched Nyer, unable to hold back a smile at him, “As you and Alexios know, I am not exactly the great power that commands the same potency of magic as a True Gentry might, but even if I was, I could never best one of the pantheon. But because I cannot wield the magic to my full whimsy, it means that I cannot shape new Moondove Phoenix hatchlings. They were a rare breed to begin with and are greatly sought after by other Fae because they are an unusual embodiment of immortality in the form of rebirth. For a Changeling to come into any form of immortality is a marvel, but without the mother Phoenix, no one is sure how she crafted her chosen with such traits, but we’re sure that they need to reach a certain age in each birth cycle in order to unlock their eternities. But if there’s more, then only the mother knows those secrets. We need to keep their population alive or we become vulnerable again.”

Noah could hardly mutter a word beyond his desperation to feel the sensation of his Dragons desires. “Please tease me no longer.”

Slate did his best to stay still allowing Opal time for rest as he closed the book saving the space where they had left off.

“Well I never thought to over power him certainly I have no desire for violance but what if we were clever.” Nyer proposed handing his Queen a cocktail while he held his own.

Seth retook the Awakened’s lips and slowly pushed into his slick backside entrance with a groan.

Nearly an hour later, Opal awoke from her sleep with a start. She backpedaled from Slate and fell back, spreading her wings in such a way to make herself appear much larger than she was as she looked around with a fierce call, a sound much different than her cooing and mellow chirps.

Zoeva took the peculiar drink from Nuer with a nod as a thank you, “And what exactly are you thinking? We need to retrieve the Phoenix we gave them.”

Noah cried out in delight muffled only by the Dragons affection as his body greedily tightend around the dragon.

“What’s wrong Opal?” Slate asked waking from his own calm his own eyes looking around for what could have been the provocation.

———

“Well to put it bluntly my Queen, if we have nothing of value to trade with the dragon we need to be creative.” He took a sip of the drink. “The Phoenix is a Changeling, why not have her do like others have and run for the other world and once she is there we convince her to return with us.”

Seth broke the kiss, one hand gripping Noah’s hip and the other snaking around beneath his back, “I missed having you.” He began he moved his own hips at a slow steady pace.

She moved back, taking a showy stance, a nightsky seeming to ripple over her body in a way that had never happened before.  She let out another call before moving with purpose toward the window and peering outside.

Zoeva was quiet a long moment after taking a sip of the drink. “So... you believe that if we pay them a visit with nothing of equal value, you might be able to convince her?”

“I belong to only you.” Noah tried to keep composed but Seth know how to illicit the most out of every thrust.

Slate followed her to the window “What has gotten into you today ?”

“If she is lucid enough we convince her to run to the other world past the Hedge and maybe after that we talk her into coming back with us.” Nyer suggested

Seth altered his affections between Noah’s lips and neck, his pace growing in speed.

Opal bristled, her eyes scanning the outside world. She glanced at Slate before looking back to the outside, obviously perturbed by something.

“Yes... that would be our best chance perhaps even with an equal offer.” The Queen nodded, “Maybe we just go to pay a visit to the Dragon then..”

“Don’t stop” Noah pleaded his delight clear from his hands running along the Dragons back.

“Opal what do you see?” Slate said now with a defiant concern.

“My place is only to offer you my advice my Queen.” Nyer said with a confident smile.

“We belong to each other!” Seth grunted between thrusts as his potency grew. His hips grinded to Noah’s body, aiming to make the Awakened melt with delight.

She screeched and hopped onto the sill, spreading her wings with an impressive wingspan. The nightsky speckled with stars drifted over her feathered form as she seemed to be evolving right before Slate’s eyes.

“I will send for Alexios and we will go to visit the Dragon.” Zoeva made up her mind, “I think perhaps you might be best to speak to Sini and entice her to the mortal world.”

Beads of pent lust dripped from Noah his voice was a cacophony of delights. His lips only silenced by pressing hard against the Dragons skin, a derived trick he picked up as the lovers moved from their lonely train cars to the castle.

“Amazing ...” Slate looked on almost dumbfounded by what he saw “What do you see ?” He pondered strugleing to take his eyes away from what he saw.

“As you wish my Queen.” Nyer spoke quite co tent with earning his queens favor, he knew the importance of being useful and truly the only thing he feared was falling from usefulness.

He couldn’t help but to smile between his lustful breathing at the gesture. He held Noah close to him as his hips moved with erratic purpose. “Noah..!” Seth groaned, “You’re squeezing so tightly!”

Opal took off from the ledge, arcing high with her wings opened to their fullest. Behind her streaked silvery speckled stardust as she flew to circle back toward the castle.

As soon as Alexios joined them, Queen Zoeva informed him of Nyer’s clever scheme. As it turned out, the vaults held no treasure to measure to the worth of the Phoenix, but Alexios had brought something small as a welcoming gift. After some relays, their trip was planned and a few days later they made headway for the Abyssal Mirror.

As a herald lead the Queen’s entourage to the palace, Zoeva looked up from the open top carriage and saw the Phoenix take flight. ‘It seems as though she’s grown strong here..”

It was to much for Noah to restrain his body as a spurt of lust shot from him provoked only by the rytham of Seth’s claim. The mage did what he could to keep him self silent as futile as it was.

“Good job Opal.” Slate spoke encouragingly.

“So it would seem.” Nyer observed “shall we still carry through on our plan?”

Seth unleashed his own ecstasy in tandem with his diamond, pressing his lips to any of Noah’s skin he could find, holding him tightly. He rolled to one side, bringing the Mage with him as to keep him close.

Opal spotted the carriage and let loose with a loud cry before she turned and made aim to return to Slate’s bedroom.

“We should continue as we talked about.” Zoeva commanded quietly, “She’s obviously flourished here and we need that strength bred into her home of origin. By now, judging on how she looks from here, she should be free to shift into a changeling form. Nyer..” She leaned close and whispered in his pointed ear, “If your plan succeeds, I will reward you publicly and personally.”

“I missed this.” Noah said his voice ringing with a deep delight “we have not had this in quite a while I’ve missed those lips of yours.” Noah seemed lost in his own thoughts

“What is bothering you Opal ?” Slate could not observe the carriage as he was more focused on Opal.

“Have I ever failed you my Queen ?” Nuer said said with a devious smile.

“I haven’t been nearly as good to you as I should be..” Seth spoke between gentle affections to the Mage as he insisted on keeping their bodies close.

The strange bird began to glow again as she moved to the center of his room, except it was her whole body. As she turned to face Slate, the light emanating from her became blinding.

Zoeva leaned back into her seat with a confident smile and the carriage soon arrived at the palace where another emissary was there to escort the group to their audience with the Dragon.

“I won’t have you say such things.” Noah said with stars practically in his eyes and his finger moving to hush Seth and then kissed him gently.

Slate recoiled from the light using his arms to cover his eyes from the light.

Nyer sat there silently turning his thoughts to how to convince the Changeling to run.

Seth returned the affection without a thought. “I love you,” He whispered, giving the Mage’s body a gentle squeeze.

“They’re here for me.” Came a girl’s voice. She grabbed a blanket off the bed, pulling the whole thing over her shoulders and leaving the bed disheveled, “her hair was long and white with black tips at her sideswept bangs and where her locks came to an end at her knees. Her eyes were the same as her Phoenix form, and halfway down her arms and legs, her skin seemed to kaleidoscope with the galaxy showing through, and the rest of her body was a perfect moonlight shade with a similar glow.

The emissary helped the trio from the carriage and brought them into the grand hall where Seth was waiting on his throne. Beside him was another matching, but not identical throne for Noah for when they had such audience. Both were the center of the room.

Seth looked intimidating as the foreigners approached as they were each announced in turn to the Dragon. He did not seem impressed, but he did not seem angry either.

Zoeva took a step forward from her advisors to address him, “Great Dragon, my apologies for not having kept you appraised of our great time of peace since you came to save me from the ordeal of Chimera. I hope you have been well.”

“Well enough. You and I discussed that we needn’t cross paths on a regular basis seeing as the Fae are not creatures of such luxuries.” Seth replied, his voice booming and his power overwhelming in his domain.

“Who is ... wait you can talk ? What is going on ?” Slate was lost in his confusion and rambled as much as he thought

Nyer stood there silent observing the space around him carefully staying humble as the leaders spoke. His mind was looking for the most likely corridor which would lead him to his goal.

Noah kept silent his interest in Fay politics was minimal after all he knew one who lacked clarity could not wrap their head around such things so he sat there observing those who stood before them.

“I.. I um...” Opal blushed in embarrassment, “I’m not a real bird. I’m actually from somewhere else, that’s not here or the moon world.. But please.” She timidly stepped forward toward him, clutching the blanket tightly in her small fists, “Don’t let them take me! I.. I really live it here.. and I really like spending time with you! I’ve never really had a friend before you. The others didn’t like me..”

Zoeva parted her lips, but before she could speak empty pleasantries, Seth interrupted, “What is it you came here for? After all this silence, surely you do not expect me to think this is strictly for the pleasure of it.” He cast a sidelong glance at Noah, the Dragon’s muscles flexing slightly as he was ready to strike.

Zoeva’s expression and demeanor seemed to darken but Alexios stepped up beside her, “Great Dragon, please we mean no offense. Since you had saved our Queen, in truth, there has been quite the fascination with knowing your true existence in the eyes of the Queen’s people. So while this is not purely a visit of pleasures, politically, it appeared to be the best move for our Queen. Our secondary motive, as it came up on the way here, Nyer wa most curious about how the Phoenix you were gifted with was fairing. Would it perhaps be too much for him to visit her?”

“I will keep you safe Opal!” Slate sounded determined as he approached her he grabbed her hand “Follow me!” Slate grabbed his play sword and lead Opal out of his room “this is our castle and no one knows it better then me.” Slate continued to be determined as he lead her through the halls.

“It would be most curious to see how the magical of this place interacted with the magic of our home, I must admit my own profound curiosity. We are used to visitors from other places coming and staying with us and as they are in our home our magical effects them I would love to see how your magic effects ours great one.” Nyer was sure to put on his be performance as he spoke.

Opal stumbled along with Slate, her legs somewhat weaker than even what she’d anticipated, “Your dads won’t get mad if we hide, right?”

“Odd.. I know someone else with an insatiable curiosity. Luckily for you, it’s someone I have taken a strong liking to, so I just might honor such a request.” Seth answered, his gaze falling across the trio from the Moon domain, “But before granting such an audience with our Phoenix,” he made a sweeping gesture to include Noah in his statement and by extension their son, “Why not tell me your true motivations for coming to my doorstep. There lies much more than what you’re telling me and the only place you shall be shone is the exit if you do come forward.”

“The truth is,” Zoeva spoke up, “The rest of our female Phoenixes are ill and we do not understand why. It’s something that has never happened before and we thought maybe if the one you had was well and strong, we could perhaps see and understand why to adjust the conditions for our own. Things are constantly changing and maybe we need to raise the male and female separately to a certain point.”

“No they shouldn’t” Slate said leading Opal through the halls of the castle.

Nyer was silent at this point, impatience was welling in his chest but he knew he had to hide it, he had a desperation to prove his worth to his Queen and mentor.

Slate did indeed know the palace well, and most of the best hiding spots were nearest the throne room, some that could even be used to spy on the main hall itself.

“Ha... surely you must know by now that your mother Phoenix originates from here, as my own creation of pure magic and willpower. I treated her as a changeling, offering her a more human shape that she could shift into at her whimsy because she was fascinated by the material worlds.” Seth leaned back in his chair, both arms extending to rest of over the arms and one hand draping gently over Noah’s, “I allowed her to travel, but she always came back. Always. At the end of her leaves, no matter how long, she always came to the place she considered home. In fact many of the treasures I possess in my store houses are from her and others of similar freedom. The letters she sent through my messenger, which ignorant folks mistakenly named my huntsman, came nearly twice a week. Then one day it just stopped and she never returned. I mourned her loss and went on a great quest to find her and I did discover her fate. Do any of you care to know?”

Slate lead her to where he thought would be best taking a breath to relax and compose himself.

Nyer was silent contemplating what he had just heard such information would be useful to him if he could track down his prey. While he was certain the others were interested by the hint of mysticism in the Dragons words Nyer had no such place contemplating such meta physical phenomena.

Opal couldn’t hide her curiosity, walking quietly about the room in her bare feet and the blanket dragging just slightly behind her. Her hand was pressed to the walls gently as she circled the perimeter.

Seth rose from his throne, but remained atop the slightly elevated platform, “She had been killed, and her ashes stolen off to a kingdom composed of moonlight. I know who truly rules your throne Zoeva, and I know what happens both in light and darkness in that which you believe is yours.” The Dragon shifted his gaze to Nyer, “You may go and find the Phoenix that lives in my domain, but you may not lay a finger on her, nor be alone with here. I am no longer her master, just as none of you standing before me are. She has a new charge that is dangerous, but cannot be fooled.”

Alexios stepped forward with a hint of a smile, “Great Dragon, we meant not mean any offense on our past or future encounters. How could we know that we had stolen something so precious to you?”

“I made no such accusations, but I see through the charade and the lies. You came here to take back something you gave us.” Seth was certain to include his family because Opal had definitely been a fantastic companion for Slate and he wouldn’t of been without Noah. They were absolutely his highest priority, but having a Phoenix back in his domain, well she was climbing the ranks quickly to join them. ‘I mean no disrespect in my words, but do not regard me as a fool. I have existed far longer than any of you. I know the origins of what governs your home. Nyer wasn’t it?” Seth waved forward an attendant, a young man with a human shape but made of obsidian from his feet up to his knees where his skin slowly shifted to hot glass, “You may go see our Phoenix, but remember my rules.”

“Great Dragon...” Zoeva started slowly, “Our visit here was with the intent of checking on her and seeing her conditions. We are in a dire situation and the powers that be have offered no aid despite our pleas.”

The attendant moved beside Nyer, “Sir, if you would please follow me.. I can take you to meet with her and her master.”

Slate relaxed confident that he had confounded the intruders and turned to face Opal “It is going to be ok.” He said with a smile.

Nyer was obviously shaken by Seth at this point the Dragons wrath had eclipsed Osins by an order of magnitude that the two were impossible to compare. “I understand.” He said unable to hid his worry in his words.

Noah looked on amused at Seth’s confidence shaking their guest so.

Opal turned to look at him, a slight pink tinge to her cheeks, “Are you okay with me being like this?”

She was shorter than him and had a small frame anyway. She was obviously the runt of the Phoenix children even without seeing the others. Her eyes were wide as she looked at Slate, a quiver in her lip.

Zoeva turned to Nyer, taking his hand in both of hers. “You know what to do.” She spoke on a whisper as Alexios addressed the Dragon, “Your words are magical, powerful. You only need to speak with her. She’s young and if anyone can make the impression we want, it’s you.” She smiled at him and gave his hand a squeeze.

“Sir, please. Time is limited.” The attendant stated several steps behind where Nyer and Zoeva were.

“Enough of your words.” Seth commanded of Alexios, “You and the Queen will stay here while Nyer observes with our Phoenix, but we are done with words.” The Dragon turned to Noah, leaning in to speaking gently with him, “We should go find Slate once they leave and explain what is happening. I know that this probably holds no interest for you, but thank you for coming and staying beside me.”

“Whatever shape you wish to wear makes no difference to me. We are still friends no matter what.” Slate said as assuredly as he could.

Nyer nodded in agreement following the henchman with a respectful distance.

Noah smiled whispering back “this is your castle to rule and I am here by your side always.”

Opal nodded and clutched the blanket, “I think my other self is much stronger.. I think if we need to, I could fly us somewhere, but I don’t know the outside of the castle too well.”

The attendant lead Nyer to Slate’s room before turning to him, “Please wait here.” He went into the child’s bedroom and came out but a few moments later, “They’re not here.. come with me.” He took Nyer back to the grand hall much quicker than they had departed, and went closer to the thrones than the visitors had been allowed, “Dragon, they aren’t in his room and his bed is a wreck.”

Seth turned with a raised eyebrow at the words of the attendant. His lips pulled to a smirk, “Wait here. I shall bring them fourth.” He looked back to Noah, “Perhaps he already knows.”

“It could be dangerous for us outside the castle though.” Slate seemed nervous to leave the castle without some kind of guardian.

“Things might be turning in our favor my Queen.” Nyer whispered.

“If you think it’s better here, then I agree!” Opal nodded vigorously, “We’ll be okay here? I didn’t know they were hidden places here.”

Zoeva was in a bit of shock, “What exactly did you see?” She asked on a whisper.

Seth moved past the trio in casual stride after commanding his guards to stay and watch them. He brought out his draconic features as he often did when playing with Slate, so the sound of his approach would be familiar to the young Dragon lord. He would check their hideaways after seeing the state of the bedroom.

“No one will find us and if they do I will keep you safe.” Slate drew his play weapon.

“The children are lost in the castle somewhere.” Nyer replied deviously

Opal blushed brightly, but hid her face in the blanket, “Okay... I know you’re really strong, so I believe in you!”

Going down the hallway, Slate could hear the scrapping Seth’s clawed feet as he walked down the hallway. The Dragon made a growling sound in addition so the child would know that Seth was alone or with Noah.

“Do you believe there are problems already?” Zoeva asked.

“My Queen.” Alexios turned toward them, join in their circle and speaking just as quietly, “Perhaps Nyer can sow the seeds of doubt in both. Obviously with the Dragon’s mate, their child is not a full blooded Fae and may crave something beyond Arcadia. Maybe instead of trying to separate them here, get them to go on an adventure together... Perhaps there’s some treasure in the material world that they so need.”

“You hear that ! My dad is coming to rescue us !” Slate said with anticipation grabbing plan and running in the direction of the sound.

“They are both Changelings, a taste of the other world might be enough to compel them naturally otherwise there are other ways my Queen.” Nyer found renewed hope.

Opal squeaked in surprise as she hurried on her feet to keep up with Slate. The two bolted into the hallway and easily spotted Seth with his wings and horns and claws walking down the corridor without another soul in sight. His eyes narrowed upon the children as he came to meet them, “Slate, who is this with you?”

“We must try. I do not care what happened outside of our power, but we cannot loose the Phoenix brood we’ve worked so hard to keep.” Zoeva agreed, “It’s imperative we plant the thoughts so deeply.”

Skates arms wrapped around the Dragons leg as he breathed a sigh of relief “it’s opal dad she changed.” Slate said exuberantly.

“One way or another my Queen you shall have your prize. We shall plant the seed and nurture it to bloom in their dreams.” Nyer sounded mischievous

Opal stood nervously before the Dragon looking up at him, shying just behind Slate.

Seth rubbed Slate’s hair, “Interesting... You really are flourishing here. Or perhaps it’s because of your friendship with Slate here. In either case, the three of us need to have a quick chat because I made a promise, but we are running out of time.”

“I’m not going!” Opal said defiantly before hiding in the blanket.

Zoeva smiled at Nyer, “This is only the beginning of it. If you succeed, it could still take time. We must find a way to watch over them and keep tabs. And once they’re out there, you will need to bring her back. She’ll trust you.”

Slate looked puzzled at Opals defiance he had never seen someone defy Seth perhaps beside himself and was worried what the dragon might do.

“It seems I must become familiar then with dreams, what are the chances they will have their dreams watched.” Nyer said with a grin.

Seth knelt down to meet their level best he could, “I will not make you go anywhere you do not wish to go. That has been my nature. You may ask Slate and you ask his father. But I would like to speak to both of you privately about what is about to happen so that I am not labeled as a liar. Can we do that?”

Opal looked at Slate, then back to Seth, “Only if Slate can be there.”

Seth looked at his son with a serious expression, “You are in charge. What we will do?”

“I may know someone who can help teach you in such a talent, but know it is a dangerous path to take.” Alexios offered, “If not the best, then Osin is also well versed, although you may need to convince him to show you.”

“Opal, you can trust my dad I’ll be right beside you.” Slate said with a smile.

“For the Queen I shall do anything.” Nyer said assuredly.

Seth led them to one of the rooms where they could see the hall, “I want each of you take a turn looking through this crack here. You will see three visitors from the Court of Moonlight there. They have come with clouded intentions in regards to Opal. I promised the man with the pointed ears that he could speak with you Opal, but I told him he could not touch you and that he would only be allowed to have words with Slate supervising him. Could you both speak with him privately for me? It can be for as short or long as you like.”

Opal peeked through the crack, studying them for this was the first she’d seen them in this life, “Um, it’s just the one? I guess we could say hi to just one.”

“I’ll beat him up if he tries anything.” Slate brandished his pretend weapon.

“Slate, I’m counting on you. Do not let him trick either of you, but don’t be close minded either.” Seth warned, “I bet you could learn something of the domain beyond ours. So where would you feel most comfortable talking with him?”

Opal looked at Slate, “The only place I know really well is your room.”

“Then That is where we shall do it.” Slate said ever determined.

“Alright, why don’t you two head off there.” Seth answered as he stood, “I’m going to send Noelle to escort that man there. She will wait just outside in the hall. If you need her, she’ll be there and I’ll be just behind her.”

Opal nodded and took Slate’s hand.

“Slate lead Opal track to his room when they got there he turned to face her “if you feel strange just tell me.

“Okay..” Opal answered.

Noelle was quick to the scene after encountering Seth on his way back in the hall. She had with her a draped garb, “Opal..? I heard you might want some clothes?” She knocked on the door.

Seth returned to the grand hall, nodding to the attendant, “All is well, they were just playing. You may take Nyer to Slate’s room.”

Slate relaxed around noelle, he knew her well after all “Noelle will take care of you.”

“Very well.” Nyer tried to present the Dragon a friendly face

Opal nodded and moved forward to greet Noelle, who smiled, “Aww, you’re adorable! But you probably don’t want to wear a blanket all the time.” She brought Opal behind a dressing screen, but when the blanket dropped, Noelle gasped, “What happened to you?”

“I don’t wanna talk about it.” Came Opal’s timid voice.

Not much else was said and it only took a moment to dress the girl in a Roman style dress with a black silk and an golden sash around her waist.

“Now, I’ll be waiting outside. If anything happens, please yell.” Noelle lectured both children.

Seth gave one final glance over of the group, his draconic features still present.

“When you are ready sir.” The same attendant addressed Nyer.

“It’s gonna be ok Opal.” Slate assures her giving her a quick a hug before fetching another of his play swords “here take this just in case things get crazy.” He smiled.

“The. Lead on.” Nyer stayed.

Opal blushed and took the toy in her hand, awkwardly testing it. “Okay...”

Noelle moved to just outside Slate’s room and unleashed her full Changeling form, the flames of her molten siren features visible to both children as she displayed with full intimidation.

The attendant brought Nyer back to the room, with Noelle outside, looking fierce as she brandished a wicked looking halberd in one hand as she stood guard.

“You only have a few moments or until the children deem you to leave.” The attendant informed Nyer before gesturing for him to enter.

Nyer gave Noelle a mild smile as he made his way into the room

“Hello there.” Nyer put on a friendly smile as he examined the space “my name is Nyer, it is nice to meet you both.”

“What do you want.” Slate decadeed.

“I am simply here to talk with you both. You probably do not remember little prince but I do remember when you came to our home. I am happy to be a guest in yours.” Nyer said turning his attention to Opal.

“And you I have not had the privilege of meeting”

Opal looked at Nyer, shaking as she held the play sword behind her back, “I’m Opal. I’m not going with you.”

“I am just here to chat with you, nothing more.” Nyer tried to ease her concerns “how are you doing here ? How are you feeling ?”

Slate could of bore a hole in Nyer with the way he was staring at him.

“I... I’m scared because I’m not going back and I won’t see the others again.” Opal stated her eyes shifting from Nyer to Slate, “He’s nice to me.. He’s my friend and he doesn’t beat me up like the others did.” She looked back to Nyer, shivering.

“I know what that is like, I remember when I first arrived at Court, I did not think I would be able to endure it.” Nyer closed his eyes and reflected “tell me have either of you ever fealt like you did not belong ? Like you should be in another place that is different then this ?” He asked

“Sometimes in my dreams I see tell castles made of glass and metal, I don’t like those dreams.” Slate said flatly.

Opal was quiet, looking nervously between Nyer and Slate. It was obvious she was intrigued by whatever it was that Nyer was saying. Back when she’d initially been given away to the Dragon, there was mention of how she never seemed to fit in with the other Phoenix children.

“For all of us that are not one of them, this place is not our home, that place, in your dreams your memories of where you come from trying to claw their way into your mind, that is where you were born.” Nyer spoke with dire seriousness to the children. “Somehow, someway, we were all taken by one of them and changed to what they wanted us to be, the changed the way our bodies work, they changed the way we interact with time. They did all of this to us.”

“Who... who is they? The other Phoenix kids?” Opal asked with a strange tone to her voice. She lookeda Nyer with tears glazing her eyes, as though somewhere in her, she understood what he was saying.

“I can’t say for certain, perhaps they are like you and me maybe they are not, that is a question for ever took you in the first place.” Nyer chimed aloud “There are people on the other side that miss you I am certain but who shall ever know them.”

Slate put his hand on Opal trying to bring her some measure of comfort.

“No one misses me.” Opal said quietly, “Slate is the only one who was ever nice to me. My family didn’t want me, otherwise wouldn’t they come and find me, no matter where I am?”

The young prince could feel her trembling as clearly Nyer’s words were having a heavy effect.

“Your right about that ...” Nyer put his face in to the palm of his hands “but I know why, they left something behind when they took you, it’s called a Fetch and they use their magic to make everyone believe it. Only ... only if you find a way back can you take back what you lost little Opal.” Nyer was certain the seed he desired was planted.

“A fetch?” Opal echoed. She was obviously confused, but she was young and definitely curious about the cryptic message that Nyer was feeding her.

The attendant stepped into the room, “Sir, if you please.. Time is up.”

“Goodbye Opal, Slate.” Nyer said solemnly before heading the call of the attendant. “Shall we get going now ?” He said with a hint of whimsy.

As Nyer exited Slate looked to Opal “Are you ok ?”

The attendant returned Nyer to the grand hall where there was a heavy silence cast across his two companions. Alexios looked stern, and Zoeva was worried. Standing before his throne and almost protectively shielding his love, was the Dragon still sporting his human form twisted with horns, wings, claws and scales.

“Is there any other business you have to tend to or can we say our farewell?” Seth’s voice boomed.

She turned to regard Slate, “Do you... Do you think there’s a family out there for me? Like what you have here?”

Nyer had a sublime smile on his face as he made his way into the hall and took his place beside his Queen where in just for a moment he gave the dragon a defiant yet deviant grin. “I believe all sides have honored their end of the arrangement.”

“I ... I don’t know ... I can’t really remember anything outside of this place ... Opal do you remember having another family?” He asked

Seth waved his hand to dismiss them, but his vermilion gaze bore into Nyer.

The emissary that had escorted the trio was waiting outside the grand hall to bring them back to the edge of the Mirror.

Zoeva leaned in close to Nyer as they made their exit, “You are to come to my chambers when we are home.”

“Sometimes I have dreams of another place, but the people look different there.” Opal answered, her voice had a strange calmness to it, “But I don’t remember interacting with them, but sometimes.. I see castles made of glass in them.”

“As you wish my Queen.” Nyer chimed happily.

“Maybe we should explore your dreams, I am sure there has to be a way.” Slate said obviously the whole moment tooknits tool on him.

Opal handed the play sword back to Slate, “Explore dreams? Is that something we can do? Is that something anyone can do?”

“Yeah my dad is really good at it so I must be to.” Slate slipped back into his confidence “I just need to figure out how. ...”

“Has your dad taken you into dreams before?” Opal asked as she went to the window, watching as the carriage departed, “Even if we figure out what glass castles are, I don’t know if I could get there alone. I mean, what’s your past all this? Isn’t it dangerous.”

“It probably is ... but I want to help you ... you look like you need a smile maybe I can find that for you in your dreams.” Slate said “we just need to be sneaky ... my dad might get mad if he finds out we are trying to find out about dreams.”

“You’re really sweet..” Opal stated as she stared out the window, her face reddened, “If I were a princess, I would love to be with someone like you, but I don’t know what I am.”

She suddenly turned back to face Slate, “What if you told your dad that you wanted to know about dreams because you’re a dragon? Like, you’re both dragons, So isn’t that a power you both have?”

“I.. I’m going to check on them.” Seth commented to Noah, “Opal changed.. She’s a true Lost now, poor child.”

“That could work we just need to be really convincing.” Slate belived in the idea.

“Make sure you talk softly with them.” Noah advised.

“I will.. my anger is not at them and it will not be directed as such.” Seth replied as he leaned in and kissed Noah softly, “Thank you for staying with me for this.”

He gave the Awakened a smile before venturing off to visit Slate’s room.

He knocked on the door and called, “Slate.. Opal..”

Opal fell quiet as she looked at the door.

“Hi dad.” Slate said opening the door slowly almost instantly looking to see how Opal was holding up.

“Hey Great Dragon.” Seth smiled before following Slate’s gaze to the petite Phoenix girl, “May I come in? It’s been a rather eventful day and I want to make sure you both are okay.”

Opal nodded at Slate, moving away from the window.

Slate moves aside taking up a place beside Opal.

“Those people are weird.” Slate stated

“Well yes... but we’re probably weird to them.” Seth held back a laugh, but couldn’t hide his smile at the bluntness, “Are you both okay after speaking to that man? And thank you for holding up. It means everything that you didn’t make me break my promise and if there is a next time, I will ask permission before agreeing to anything.”

Opal studied Seth for a long moment, “I still don’t want to go back with them.”

“You don’t have to go with them Opal, they are leaving and I’m not letting them in my room ever again.” A poof of smoke almost Emirates from Slate as he spoke

“Next time they show up without an invitation extended from us, you and I will go give them a Dragon’s greeting.” Seth pronounced, clearly proud of Slate, “And Opal, you are not a prisoner here to to them or anyone. You have the free will to do whatever you wish to.. But, you are both young and I would be remiss if I didn’t act as a parent to you as I do to Slate. If I am stern, it is because I’m worried about your wellbeing. May I know what you talked about with the man? You both seem to be quite on edge.”

Opal looked at Slate, “I.. I don’t know... I don’t belong here?”

“He talked about dreams, dreams that he had mostly and he asked us about ours.” Slate spoke up trying to recall the extent of the conversation he had with Nyer but it all seemed so big that his mind could not even begin to draw the full context of it.

“Opal I’ll make sure your ok, don’t worry.” Slate spoke confidently to his friend.

Seth’s gaze narrowed, “He asked both of you about your dreams? Tell me... have either of you encountered him before today, perhaps through a dream?”

Opal smiled at Slate before shaking her head to Seth’s question, “I haven’t.”

“I’ve never seen him before either. Do you know who he was ?” Slate asked Seth.

“When they gave the egg that held Opal, he was there as one of their Queen’s advisors, but you have grown much since then.” Seth smiled at Slate, but it quickly faded as he rubbed his forehead with a storm of thought, “It bothers me that they came here so suddenly with an interest in you Opal, but asked about your dreams. I wonder... Opal, how would you feel about Slate and myself guarding your dreams?”

Opal’s eyes went wide, “Like... you would see what I dream about?”

Seth nodded, “Yes, but we would do so without interruption. Sometimes the mind can conjure up strange things, odder than whatever dwells in the hollows of Arcadia itself, with no reason. But I fear that those three may be trying to influence you... And I think it’s time that Slate learn how to access dreams. It can be a powerful tool...” Seth turned his attention to his son, “And I can see, particularly after today and how you took care of Opal that you can hold the responsibility of such a gift.”

“That means you will teach me dad!” Slate stated exuberantly at the prospect “don’t worry Opal I will keep your dreams well guarded.”

Seth waited as he watched Opal’s equally excited reaction.

“That sounds so neat! Will I see you in my dreams?” She came nearer to Slate obviously blown away at the prospects presented before them.

“Potentially.” Seth interjected, “Slate’s primarily going to be stealthy. He should only be monitoring your dreams and intervening if he deems it necessary.”

Slate smiled “I can’t wait for you to teach me !” He was beyond excited any dismay he had meeting Nyer had vanished.

With both parties having their own machinations churning, both Nyer and Slate underwent training for the dreamwalk from their respective mentors.

Slate and Opal grew closer especially once Seth began taking Slate into the dreams of the Moondove Phoenix. He was certain to emphasize that his son was not to directly interfere with the dream unless there was a real threat. He showed him the tricks on how to conceal himself and how to recognize if there was an outside influence muscling it’s way in. As the two children aged, Seth became less involved in mentoring Slate and instead left him alone to monitor Opal’s dreams. As the two were on the cuspid of teenagers, the young Dragon prince was blue to witness a dramatic shift in Opal’s dreams. There were foreign landscapes of metal veined structures fitted with large smooth lanes of glass, spanning as far as the eye could see. Sometimes he would find her flying between the massive glass mountains in her Phoenix form and other times he could hear the echos on her sobbing somewhere in the maze. Other times, he could relive the bullying she endured before knowing him and how she was occasionally murdered by her siblings only to be reborn. On the rarer occasion, Opal could be found dreaming of en empty palace in the Abyssal Mirror, calling for Slate until she awoke in a violent panic.

Nyer was placed under the duel tutelage of his once (and sometimes still) rival of the ivory satyr Oisin. While he harbored great resentment toward Nyer, he was as eager to make any positive mark upon the Queen. When in audience with others, Oisin was generally extremely helpful and a phenomenal teacher. However there wasn’t always an opportunity for them to be witnessed, where Oisin was still a good instructor, but also was interested in seeing Nyer fail. The second master Nyer was given an opportunity to study under was the shackled Chimera. He seemed to have a special fondness for Nyer and had a different style of educating the advisor from Oisin. Because the Queen Zoeva declared that Nyer’s primary objective was to pursue and nurture the seed of doubt he had planted, his skill at the dreamwalk became his highest priority, unless, of course, the Queen summoned him for other activities. Nyer’s training was almost constant and his skills easily surpassed that of the young Dragon Prince...

Since she had recently gained much better control over moving between her Phoenix form and her Changeling form, Opal had been given tasks around the Abyssal Mirror, leaving her with less and less time to spend with Slate. Seth had even gone so far as to provide her housing at the edges of the Mirror. She had just returned from her most recent promotion to the outer defenses of where the Mirror itself laid in hiding in a violent underground volcanic world. She walked into the grand hall, wearing a masculine outfit of pants and a tunic, but she was covered in soot and looked exhausted.

Seth eyed her, standing as the young girl moved to get addressed. He no longer viewed her as part of their family persay, and while it hadn’t been an open announcement, it was obvious to all, except for Opal herself. In the years since, a third seat had been added for Slate as Seth saw it important for his son to witness politics of the Fae world.

“Tell me what have you found in the wastes beyond the gleam of the palace Opal?” Seth’s voice commanded.

She took a deep breath, before coughing a bit. She used the back of her hand to wipe her mouth, leaving a trail of black ash across her cheek, “There was no trace of anyone or anything aside from the wandering hellbeasts. There’s two fresh liters of puppies, but that’s all.”

Nyer was busytaking in everybscrap of knowledge that he could from any and all of his mentors. He intended to nurture the seed of doubt he had planted until it was in full blossom but in the aftermath of that day he always held a new target in his mind. The Dragon had spoke so harshly to his Queen and with such disrespect that the seductive Changeling wished to crawl into the Dragons dreams and exact a punishment that he thought would be appropriate, he had no violent intent for the great dragon just a tricksters wish but he knew also by distracting the dragon his own seed would grow deeper. Nyer would encourage the Domains Helldivers to dive into the Abyssal Mirror just so that Nyer would be appraised of what was happening there.

Slate grew in charm, charisma, and power wishing not to just be entitled to his place as Prince but to earn it as well.

Noah spent what time he could in Arcadia but the Wyrd Magic affected his Wisdom in various ways forcing him to slip in and out of the realm while he searched for ways to reconcile the shards of his soul.

Slate looked on with amusement, he enjoyed seeing Opal in the palace again and could not hide his smile from the sight of her.

The Queen’s Helldivers were serpentine creatures with holes drilled through their fitted ball joints so they were bizarre wooden marionettes, the boy was black and the girl was white. Both Luca and Jasmine were charming and sensual Changelings, each excited to do work for Nyer. They’d often go together to delve into the reaches of the Abyssal Mirror, although it had taken a while for them to figure out to venture into the depths where the palace was well protected. But the Queen had commanded them to be at her favored advisor’s beck and call unless something came up.

With the information each garnered for Nyer, it seemed as though his plan was working accordingly and the seed was blooming at a rapid rate. He learned of the eventual chores that the Phoenix girl, Opal as the Dragon has renamed her, was sent on and how she had come to be forced from the palace walls and now dwelled on the brink of the Mirror.

Seth waved his hand to dismiss her, “You may return to your dwelling. I expect you to report in a week’s time of all that you see unless there is cause for otherwise. Now go.” He turned and moved to look out of the windows of the grand hall behind where the trio of thrones sat.

Opal nodded, but her attention shifted to Slate. She smiled back at him, glad to see her one and only friend. But she knew she couldn’t stay, so she gave him a wave and turned where a new attendant was waiting to escort her out. Of course though, Opal couldn’t resist a look over her shoulder at the Prince.

Nyer delighted in every scrap of information the helldivers brought him, one by one the dominos were falling into place the only problem was him developing his skills enough to guide the dragon along the road he wanted.

As soon as Slate had the chance he slipped away from the palace hall in hopes of catching Opal before she departed the castle.

“Nyer!” Came Alexios’ voice before he even came around the corner, “We have a boon!”

Jasmine and Luca both slithered into hiding as Alexios approached. As he came to the exotic Changeling, a broad smile bloomed on his lips. “I made a rather risky strategic move and spoke loose of your schemes to Chimera... He is excited to show you the real depths of the dreamwalk. I believe you can make this work to your advantage.”

The attendant didn’t even show Opal the way out, but directed her, so she was in the hall walking at a slow pace. She pulled free part of the tunic, letting it fall at her waist and revealing a thin frame with a slight curve.

“Are you sure such a deal is not some scheme of Chimera?” Nyer k ew he could not appear to jump at the chance, he had worked up an understanding with Chimera in the past and in truth there was nothing that was going to stop him from his ambition.

Slate raced through the castle to get to Opal before her departure “Opal, it has been a long time.” Slate said with a smile while looking at the attendant to give him some privacy.

“He seems eager yes,” Alexios admitted, “But it was only after I mentioned the Dragon to him that he sprung to life. Perhaps he wishes some vengeance against the scaled beast. But Chimera is well versed in Oneirmancy. He still parades about in other’s dreams.. I think he is looking for so,etching specific, which I told him may be of interest after you have achieved victory for our Queen.” Alexios smiled, “So what say you? At least speak with Chimera?”

“Hey Slate!” Opal’s face lit up at the sight of the young prince. She waited until the attendant ventured a ways down the hall, “I’ve missed you. Your dad has me constantly running around and doing stuff, but I think about how much fun we used to have... How are you?!”

“Since you think this will be worth it I will play along.” Nyer did his best to hide how ecstatic he was.

“It is so good to see you again. Dad has had a lot on his mind lately.” Slate said with a sligh sigh “you look like your doing well for yourself despite all the work, maybe some time we can get together?”

Alexios grinned and lead Nyer to the highest peak of the castle where the moon shown through a tower of glass constantly. It was a specially crafted prison for Chimera where the Moonlight could always watch him. Chimera himself was sitting in the middle of the chamber in a meditative state, but he couldn’t help but to smile as he heard his guests enter.

“Chimera.” Alexios’ stern voice rang out, “Are you still willing to entertain our deal?”

He opened one eye and his smiled widened, his singular gaze on Nyer, “I will, but it takes time and dedication.”

“Yeah! I’d love that.. I’ll see if I can ask for audience to get a some time off from the patrols.” She smiled, an ethereal glow to her as though in correlation to her mood, “I hope everything gets sorted with your him soon. It’s weird seeing the both of you actually.. Feels like it’s been forever. Hey um.. I was going to bath then get some food, but if you wanna join me for dinner, we could get something now?”

“Well then, for my Queen I will dedicate myself to what you have to teach.” Nyer was content to sell it as best he could.

“Certainly, I never get out of the castle, what kind of places do you like ?” Slate asked amused at sneaking away from the castle.

“Nyer, would you like me to stay while he addresses you?” Alexios asked with a serious nature. Nyer knew he had received a new group of servants to educate in the Court, although none were to be the same class as Nyer himself. Alexios has won his battle with Oisin and being named Prince to the Queen was something Nyer had to accomplish himself.

Chimera sat there patiently, smiling away as he was wholly focused upon his favored Changeling.

“I mean, it’s not going to be anything like what you get here, but I can take you around to the place I live now.” Opal blushed faintly, “Should I wait here while you tell him where you’re going?”

“You are busy and the rest of this business is mine, should anything for wrong I am sure my screaming will already you.” Nyer said with a polite bow.

“No let’s just go now, otherwise I am sure there will be some lecture for me, we will sneak out and back before dad even knows.” Slate said excited by the sense of danger.

“There are sentries posted throughout the tower below where the stone begins again.” Alexios tried to reassure Nyer as well as let Chimera know that there were threats immediately available should he choose to act out of line, and then the advisor left.

“Nyer, my charming love...” Chimera stood without the use of his shackled hands, still smiling, “You haven’t come to visit me in some time.”

Opal smiled and grabbed Slate’s hands, her fingers interlocking with his as she suddenly pulled him down the halls, leading them outside. Instead of taking the main pathway where the grand hall looked out, she lead him to a narrow pathway along the palace exterior. “Can you hold on tight?” She asked looking over her shoulder, clearly excited.

“Business keeps ideal hands busy, I could say the same for you after all, but I assume you know why it is that I am here.” Nyer walked right up to Chimera.

“I sure can.” Slate had no issue keeping pace while he was a noble he was physically quite active.

As Nyer moved toward Chimera, the bizarre type of Fae lifted his arms so when Nyer before him, he could lowered them and hold the Changeling close. He nuzzled against Nyer’s neck, breathing softly against his skin, “I did miss you. You were the only one to come forward and attempt to negotiate through any means necessary. But I hope you missed my touch as well.”

“Good. Then get ready.” Opal smiled and in an instant she shifted into a grander Phoenix that what Slate had last seen of her.

“If I didn’t I would not have gotten so close.” Nyer said with a breath of ease. “I did not think you cared so much for what transpired between us.”

Skates eyes went wide with excitement just like they were children he was dumbfounded by the majesty of her grown form. “Your brilliant.”

Chimera smiled in a sultry way, leaning close to Nyer, “Of course I care. And I meant no harm for your Queen; you know that better than almost everyone. I love having relationships no matter the feeling behind them. It’s so delicious and complicated.. But the body cannot lie about what one truly thinks and feels. So why not tell me what it is you’re scheming this time my charming love.”

Opal soared them high above the palace and flew them to the reaches where the world seemed like a haze. Beyond that barrier was known the Fae of Arcadia as Abyssal Knot because the place was an incredibly dangerous maze where the prized Abyssal Mirror laid and only a few True Fae held the power of shaping a domain within a domain and holding the Magic’s so separately. It was a barrier that Opal would be crossing everyday into the foreseeable future as Seth had appointed her as a guardian to the barrier.

In flight, she showed off for Slate, taking tight turns and steep gliding falls before she eventually came to a gentle landing outside of a decrepit looking hut with no door. The meager structure had a layer of stone as the base, but the rest was twigs with a thatched roof. She waited until Slate was on the ground before she shifted back to her human form, “I’m just going to grab something quick then we can go down the ways for some dinner.”

“I understand, in fact the queen is the cause of my visit, you see the one who put you hear levied great insult to her and I wish to make his pay for that transgression.” Nyer said with a smile.

Slate was awe struck by the views he saw before him captivated by the beauty that he could barely make out any words.

Chimera smiled and brought his lips so close to Nyer’s that as he spoke, they brushed against his, “Always with the Queen at the forefront of each and every thought... What about me, lovely faerie?”

Opal blinked at Slate’s silence and she put a gentle hand on his shoulder, “You okay? I’ve never seen you so quiet.”

“I must admit the thought of you here alone like this makes me upset for ... what was Lost.” Nyer was struggling to keep himself composed he could not deny the favor Chimera had shown him.

“I’m sorry this is just amazing to see everything like this, it really is spectacular.” Slate said through a gleaming smile “What is it like for you out here ?”

“Do you think if I prove myself with aiding you...” his voice was breathy against Nyer’s lips, his gaze intent on only the Changeling,
“You might come visit for leisure’s sake?” His adjusted his arms to rest on Nyer’s shoulders, his head tilting just slightly as he waited for his beloved faerie to show any sign of affection.

“I mean, I wouldn’t call it glamorous. It’s nothing like the palace... Like this,” she gestured toward the sad twig hut as she walked Slate toward it, “This is my home now. But for what I use it for, it does the job. And I get to see things I wouldn’t never seen if I hadn’t been sent out here. But hang a second...” she jogged into the hut and pulled out a small wooden chest from beneath her bed, it was easily viewable from the open doorframe. Opal rummaged through it, moving the black and gold dress she’d been given as a child in the palace and fishing out a small plain looking box.

“You have nothing to prove, lest of all to me.” Nyer admitted “I want to see you but they keep me very busy ... it is hard sometimes I wonder if I am meant to be more then just a tool.” Nyer moved to hide his head in Chimeras chest “but I am good at what I do, at least.”

“So this is where you stay.” Slate looked around “He certainly sent you far away but if you like it I am glad for you. He has been keeping me busy greeting the endless line of guest that come to see him.” Slate looked close “I can’t believe you still have that dress after all these years.”

“No, you are nothing of the sort.” Chimera whispered against Nyer’s hair as he nuzzled the Changeling, “You are the Queen’s most prized possession for someone who is not a true fae. Her heart is entirely in your hands. It’s the other Gentry that war over this particular place that you need to worry about.”

“Yeah well you’re a prince. And this dress feels like all that’s left of my days spent there with you.. I got it the same day you promised to protect my dreams.” Opal smiled softly as she stood and turned offering the small box to Slate, “This um.. this I found and it made me think of you. I mean, I think about you all the time, but um, anyway!!”

Inside was a black chain holding a stone that shifted with aurora borealis.

“I am hardly strong enough to be little more then an annoyance to one of the True Fae.” Nyer said wrapping his arms around Chimera “But I canot abide someone insulting my Queen, which is why I wish to teach the dragon some manners through heartache.” Nyer stayed his intent.

“This is beautiful, where could you have found such a thing.” Slate could not hide his Draconic heritage at such a captivating treasure. “Maybe we can do more then thinking about each other, there is no reason we can not fulfill our responsibilities and still see each other.”

“Maybe, but you have me on your side.” Chimera purred, still nuzzling his head against Nyer’s, “And I can contend with them. And tell me.. why do you believe that I agreed to this arrangement?” He smiled slyly.

“I actually.. um, I’ll tell you over dinner.” Opal blushed, smiling ear to ear, “The place is just down this way.” She closed the chest and pushed it back under the bed before leading Slate from the hut and down a road that curved somewhat steeply down, below an overhang that had some benches with tables and a few Changelings of the realm dining on what could be akin to BBQ. Along one wall underneath the overhang  was a long sort of buffet, where a handful of Changelings cooked and served the flavorful fare. Opal brought them to the beginning where one Changeling picked up two plates and quickly piled the aromatic food onto the trays before passing it down until Opal dig into a satchel hanging at her hip for some coins, “I really hope you like this.. it’s the absolute best place going anywhere.”

“I prefer hearing your motivations coming from your lips.” Nyer relaxed pulling just slightly away so he could see the Faes face. “I know I am chasing the impossible but I still have to, can you imagine the harshness in the way he spoke to my Queen.” Nyer almost chuckled “this is not fair how am I suppose to think straight with you here.”

“This looks delicious.” Slate was impressed by the food despite his own draconic apetites there was something about the comfort and laid back nature of the place. “So what was that back at your place what do you have on your mind ?” Slate said finding a seat.

“I did not accept because of the Dragon. He was only doing what he felt right for Arcadia and his friend whom I am seeking to save from the horrors of magic...” Chimera smiled and kissed Nyer softly before pulling back just enough to look at him, “I accepted because of you. We can avenge your beautiful Queen, but she cannot have you all to herself.”

“So um.. it was a piece of amber originally, but I’ve been shaping in into something I thought you might like..” Opal blushed and focused on her plate as she nibbled between speaking, “I love having the experience of being outside and seeing new things, but many people out here don’t really talk much to me. I mean, if you look around, it’s obvious that I’m not the same craft as the other Changelings here. And I do miss hanging out with you. So what was your grand plan for seeing each other more?”

Nyer could not hide his blush at the affection. “You really wanted to see me again then.” Nyer said on a whisper lost to the idea of it for a moment so use to be summoned, beaconed, and ordered that the idea struck a cord.

“It is really a spectacular thing, the way it shimmers and shines, it is quite a treasure.” Slate spoke excitedly “you belong here just like anyone else, anyone who rejects that is just being foolish, I remember you hatching in the palace, you belong here like everyone else.” Slater assured before taking a bite to eat. “I need to work on a way for sneaking out of the castle when they are not keeping me busy.”

“You and I have a special relationship. You may not have wanted it at first and only did it to save the being you were shaped and cultured to fall in love with, but things changed.” Chimera held his smile, completely confident in his words and his gaze only leaving Nyer enough to blink, “And I of course changed my initial feelings for you. I knew why you’d come to me, but you were interesting and still now, I feel as though I’ll never know all of you, but it only pushes me to try harder for you.”

“What do they usually do to keep you occupied?” Opal asked after swallowing a bit of the meal, “Please tell me you’re not just sitting in that room all day meeting and greeting... And maybe I could help sneak you out. If I have to report weekly to your father, then I’ll be at the palace anyway, and if you’re there at the throne, it’ll be easy to time.”

“What more of me is there to know that you do not already?” Nyer chuckled his guard relaxed as he fealt virtually no tension. “How much depth can there be in someone with such a defined purpose ? I was made to do what I do.” Nyer seemed amused with the paradox he found himself in.

“What must I do for you to teach me ?” Nyer asked.

“I must admit and this may sound either petty or foolish to you but I love the spinning of Court intrigue, I suppose in that regard I do just meet and greet people.” Slate said with a smile “I try to do things in a way to entertain my dad, no one really knows it but he is hurting inside and I just want him to be happy again.” Slate grew quirt as he spoke. “That sounds like a perfect plan.” Slate said in agreement.

Chimera smiled, kissing Nyer again deeply this time.

The deal ultimately Chimera wouldn’t budge from was oddly not to be forgotten and for at least one of Nyer’s visits each week to be nothing other than pleasure. On such visits, there was no talk of Oneirmancy, but anything else applied. Chimera told Nyer is was up to the Changeling himself whether the shackles were left on or taken off.

During their sessions of dreamwalking and all the manipulations it involved, Nyer discovered things well beyond Oisin’s teachings. He also found that Chimera was serious in his warnings and gave them often, repeating himself and making it clear he wanted Nyer to fully comprehend the dangers. Oisin, while he may have continued to teach the Queen’s favored advisor offered little to no caution and eventually Nyer came to quiet realize it wa through jealousy and would never learn much more through Oisin. His better chances were absolutely with Chimera.

On this day, however, the Queen sent summons for Nyer, waiting for him in her chambers.

Slate and Opal executed their plans, seemingly perfectly. It went on for a long time with them stealing away each week, grabbing a meal at a rotation of places on the outskirts where the Mirror looked into the rest of the inferno that protected Seth’s inner sanctum. During this time, the two grew closer and closer as well as more adult in both mindset and appearance. And it didn’t seem to matter how exhausted Opal was after some of her reports, she would always come to Slate.

At the beginning of the day they were to meet, Slate received a summons to the meet the Dragon in the library. Seth was there and took him to a secret passageway that was a long dark hallways with small circular rooms at varying distances, each room housing what Seth explained as tiny worlds. He explained to him a great deal about being a True Fae and what his roll was in the Pantheon and how he came to be one of the original powers of Arcadia.

Seth then took his son to view the labyrinth that protected the Abyssal Mirror for the first time. It was hellish landscape that held a constant harsh heat and seemed to constantly snow ash. There were walkways that sprawled what seemed like forever separated by either molten rivers of magma or obsidian mountains or both. With that, dotted along the snaking maze of pathways were the pure beings of magic that Seth had created; hellish three headed beasts, impish devils, rock and fire elementals, and more. They both hid as Opal in her Phoenix state suddenly flew overhead, her brilliant white form faded with an ever shifting night sky of the aurora borealis speckled and marred with raining ash. Her eyes had changed to reflect the hellscape she witnessed every day, and some of the creatures even went so far as to try and attack her, hurling fire and burning away from of her feathers. Seth took Slate back to the place.

“I.. I know what you’ve been doing.” Seth spoke once he and Slate were back in the place, in a quiet place where they would not be bothered, “And I want you to stop.”

Nyer headed the summons of his Queen attentive to her call as always. He was certain to grant Chimera his every whim so long as it meant they were one step closer to his aims, not that the fair Changeling needed much provocation to come to his two time master.

All color nearly drained from Slate at his fathers words and he grew filled with anger “What do you mean you want me to stop ? We have been doing this for years, I cannot simply stop.” Slate protested.

The door was ajar, and he caught her pacing the room. She was in a plain black gown, her hair oddly down as it trailed behind her moving form. Clearly she was stressed to be in such a state.

Seth sighed and sat down, watching Slate with an odd serenity, “There is a reason why you need to stop seeing her. It’s my priority to protect you, Slate. You are my blood, my son and one of the biggest loves of my life. If I felt this would end or even continue well, I would let you do as you desire. But... Don’t put yourself through the turmoil that girl will absolutely bring you. I.. I hate saying this, but I maybe I should’ve let her go back with them..”

“My Queen!” Nyer entered with a state of shock and unease “How May your humble servant be of service to you ?”

“I refuse to believe your actually saying this to me, I promised to protect her and I am not going back on my word.” Slate spoke erratically

“Nyer.. You came. Thank you.” Zoeva came immediately to him and pulled him into her embrace, “I have made a decision.. But I’m nervous and certain events must transpire before I make this public, but you are my confidant and the subject of my choice.”

“You’re promise is fulfilled.” Seth answered maintaining his calm, “You needn’t worry about her or spare any more thought on the matter.”

“What exactly is it that you have decided my Queen ?” Nyer spoke with a hint of confusion.

“You cannot make this decision for me what about what I want!” Slate was still stand offish

She pulled back just slightly to look at him, a faint tremble in her hold, “You are going to be named as my Prince.”

“I will have your fascination with that thing destroy you!” Seth stood, his voice and patience seemingly gone in an instant, “I hoped by moving her from the palace and to Edge that you would loose your interest but I see keeping you part has only worsened it. She is no longer yours to worry about it! She’s not a pet for you and she’s not your friend! She’s nothing but trouble and if I have to send her permanently to the underground, I will because you will forget about her!”

“Prince ? Are you certain? I have done nothing to earn such a prestigious honor.” Nyer was surprised at the suggestion.

“Why are you doing this ? Are you jealous that I have found someone that might make me happy.” Slate spay the words realizing to late the venom they carried and instantly felt guilt for the suggestion

“Yes, but I cannot name you as such to the kingdom until you have gained back the Phoenix back.” She took a step back from him, but her hands moved down his arms until she could entangle her fingers with his, “However.. I um.. I want to celebrate with you in our own personal way... And I..” She gave his hands a squeeze s she struggled to get the words out, “I want you sit back and enjoy for a change.”

“I forbid you to see that thing again because you’re falling in love and she’s going to leave just like everyone else does!!” Seth leaned in as he yelled, Slate’s words breaking the truth out finally, “Let her fall into place as the object that she is. She’s a potent tool and nothing more; not your friend, not anything you should’ve ever been attached to! And don’t think I don’t blame myself for letting it happen... I...” the Dragon turned away, pacing several steps to the wall, “I thought you were lonely without anyone your age, but I knew I had to be a parent first.. your friend second... But clearly I can’t do both.”

“I understand.” Nyer was nearly at a loss for words no where in his wildest dreams did he even think such a thing would be possible. He knew his plans were in motion and all of this made him desire to embarrass the Dragon more but he allowed those thought reprieve and squeezed her hand in his.

“Dad this is not fair.” Slate was frightened, he could not recall such anger in his fathers words or demeanor before and practically raised his arms in a defensive posture and tears beginning to well in his eyes from both fear and sorrow.

Zoeva pulled Nyer to her own bed where she normally slept alone. It wasn’t a place she ever entertained visits, even if everyone knew where her sleeping chambers were. She laid back and pulled the pale Changeling atop her, kissing him deeply.

“Life isn’t fair.” Seth stated as he turned halfway to look at Slate, his expression one of defeat, “I cannot risk you being taken from me too. I’m sorry, but you’re all I have. I’ve seen what will happen if you continue to go off. What you saw of her today is the last of it. She’s no longer allowed here. Word reached her yesterday that she’s going to permanently be moved to Abyss. It’s all taken care of.. I cannot loose you too.”

Nyer allowed his affection to run deep his lips seizing her and kissing her deeply in a way that was new for him as he was flush with emotion.

“Please, do not punish her for my choices, I will confine myself wherever you wish but do not send her there.” Slate pleaded falling to his knees.

Zoeva brought her hands beneath his shirt to his back, caressing over his skin as she lost herself in the passionate liplock.

“SETH!!” A collective of voices sounded from somewhere in the palace, but at the core of it was Opal, “FACE ME GREAT DRAGON!!”

Seth growled, “You will wait here!” He slammed open the door and shifted to his half dragon form, leaping through the hallways to the source of the Phoenix.

Nyer knew how to move his lower half presses against her his hands worked to free her as his body grew intense with passion.

Slate could hardly sit ideally by as anarchy seemed to fall over his home he chased in pursuit of his father.

Zoeva’s hands too began to work of freeing her secret prince of his clothing. She moaned into the kiss as she could feel his skin against hers, but she refused to pull from the affection.

Slate was more than able to keep pace with his father and both reached the Grand Hall justabout the same time. Within the chamber was Opal in her mythical form, surrounded by an aura of orange and red flames. The tips of her long tail feathers and wings were burned away, revealing charred quills. She screeched as soon as she saw Seth, the sound coursing through the palace.

“You are not welcomed here any longer!” Seth roared, “I will give you but a single chance to leave back to the Edge.”

Nyer allowed his hands to free her from her constraints and shifted his affection from her lips to her neck and then her shoulder.

“Stop it! This is madness.” Slate cried out pleading for both sides to find reason.

“Nyer.. Please, let me treat you.” Zoeva gasped unable to hide her delight as her pale prince showered her in affection, “You always do for me and I don’t do enough for you.”

A bright glow engulfed Opal as she moved back into her human form, but she was naked with several severe burns and her long hair that once was to her knees had been burned to shoulder length. Tears glazed her eyes as she glared at Seth, her normal, singular voice screaming, “Why did you do this?!”

Seth however was unmoved, “Leave now!!”

“Is that what you really wish my Queen ?” Nyer said unsure how to handle the situation before him.

Slate moves to stand between Opal and Seth “What is happening here ? Why is no one explaining anything.” Slate again pleaded.

“Yes.” She smiled and tapped the spot beside her on the bed, “Let me try and do for you what you’ve always done for me. Please.”

“He’s trying to have me killed!” Opal shouted, tears falling from her eyes as though they’d been stored there for years, “He his the Mirror back from me so I couldn’t get back in! Why?!”

“It is a decision that preserves my family and power that was rightfully given to me.” Seth growled, his rage only fractured by Slate in his view, “I have fore seen what will happen if you two continue with this.... whatever you wish to call it, and I refuse to have what belongs to me destroyed!”

Nyer obliged taking a place beside her in the bed “Very well.” He was obviously out of his comfort zone as far as he relations with his Queen.

“Dad, how could you try to kill her, she is my only friend.” Slate could not make heads or tails of the situation which was befalling him “Opal what were you planing to do here ?”

Zoeva climbed atop Nyer, kissing his lips softly before trailing her affections south on his body until reaching his excitement. She blushed, and cautiously began licking before she took the head between her glossy lips, looking up at Nyer to gauge his reaction.

“I.. I figured if he was going to send me to die, he may as well do it himself.” She confessed, crossing her arms over herself, showing more cauterized wounds, “I was going to attack him so he’d just end it. I know I can’t beat him, nor would I want to...” she looked at Slate, “Him and his husband were the only other two people in existence who I trusted besides you. I just.. I just wanted to prove that I could be just as strong  to become part of what you guys offered to me.”

“Do NOT speak of him!” Seth howled in rage, bounding over Slate and slamming Opal into the ground.

Nyer could not help but groan at the treatment she was ushering upon him he bit his lip to hide the sensation but he wanted to cry out in pleasure just from the simple touch.

“Dad stop this, do not become a monster please.” Slate said putting all the envy he had of the hero that was his father as he moved to try and pull Seth off of Opal.

Pleased by the reaction, Zoeva took all him to her throat, waiting a second before she steadily began to move upon him, one of her hands traveling to hold his.

Seth’s angry gaze jumped to Slate and he backed off. “I want her out!” He growled before stomping from the room.

Opal however, was unconscious in a slight crater on the stone floor.

Nyer’s eyes rolled as shivers of delight shot up his body constantly his body was both tense and relaxed at the same time. “I think I do not know how much of this I can endure.”

“Dad ...” Slate was disappointed to say the least but quickly turned his head to Opal lifting her in his arms before carrying her to his room where he prepared to make himself suffer. “Opal. I will do this for you and get you somewhere safe ... after that I am not sure I will be able to protect you anymore.” Slate places his hand upon Opal activating a Contract of healing to heal her wounds at the expense of his Clarity.

Zoeva stopped and moved back up Nyer’s body where she rubbed her slick petals against his saliva coated member. She panted as she looked shyly at Nyer, “Did you like it?”

Her wounds sealed shut before his eyes and she groaned, coming to with one hand coming over her head, “Am I... Is this heaven?” She asked groggily, blinking rapidly as she tried to focus.

“I could hardly describe a higher pleasure ...” Nyer said his voice carried a quiver of utter want in it his body brought to the utter edge of delight by the Queen.

“I am afraid not ...” Slate said falling to the floor holding his face as his psyche was ravaged. “You need to escape the mirror Opal...” Slate said on a staggered breath.

The Queen gently used her hand to guide his excitement inside of her, gasping as his member spread her petals, “Oh Nyer!”

“Slate...” Opal sat up, rubbing her eyes to help her focus. She quickly pulled him against her bare skin, his head against her chest, “I’m sorry.. I’ll leave to the Edge.. I just. I got so angry when I got the letter and then the attacks. I’ll just have to figure out a new way to survive.. Even if it means I can’t see you anymore.. I can live knowing you’re safe in here.” She cried into dark crown of hair.

“Ah!” Nyer clenched his teeth hard doing everything to keep his body from breaking to the pleasure.

“No ... need to go where my father cannot find you ... he is not himself, he is hurt and is taking it out on you. It will not be safe for you here.” Slate said with staggered breath.

Slowly, Zoeva began to move atop him, but not just grinding. The way she positioned her legs she lifted herself up to the top of his extremity before lowering herself down to take all of him into her, then repeating.

Opal was silent aside from her crying. It took several deep, choked breaths before she could manage, “Okay... Okay... I get it.” She reluctantly released him from her embrace.

Nyer could not hold his body back any longer, he let out his ecstasy with a monumental groan of delight.

His eyes were not right, it was obvious he could barely make any sense of what it was that he was seeing, the horrific reality clawed at his mind. “Please... do not be upset... it is the only way I can think of keeping you safe ... then I can come looking for you ... when this nightmare stops.” He spoke but it was clear he was on the verge of falling into a coma from the damage to his clarity.

“Nyer!” Zoeva cried out as she peaked in tandem with him.

Opal pulled him onto his bed and threw the covers over him. She knelt on the bed, keeping one hand on his cheek, but she glanced around in a panic, “Slate... Stay awake with me...! It’s going to be awful I if I have to get your dad..”

“My Queen, you may use me as you wish, however you wish.” Nyer said between heavy breaths.

“It is so hard to stay awake now, he did this to you, my dad did this this to you.” Tears beaded from his eyes “I cannot even see you any more, I can not see the castle, just fire.” Slate struggled “Please, Opal, do not forget the good times we had here, do not lose the hope of our happy family.”

“Nyer... my sweet prince.. You don’t need to be as such any more.” She leaned over and kissed him before carefully pulling off him, “And once everything is settled with naming you as my prince... Eventually you’ll become King...”

“Slate.. Don’t apologize.. Maybe this was just how things were supposed to be.” She leaned over and kissed his forehead, “Slate.. Just please.. um.. I love you.” She kissed him again, this time his cheek, and whispered in his ear, “I love you.”

“I have never held such lofty ambitions my Queen but anything that pleases you shall please me. The phenix will be returned to us soon I am certain of that.” Nyer spoke confidently.

“Opal ...” his breathing steadied and he began to calm.

“That is actually the only reason why I need to delay the announcement, but this is the perfect opportunity to.. to do something I knew I wanted for a long time.” Zoeva smiled at him, “I was so afraid for so long you were to just leave. I’ve seen others simply vanish without a trace, but you’re the only one who’s ever tugged at my heart.”

“Shhh.. Take a few deep breaths and relax.” Opal spoke gently to him as she started to pull away slowly.

“I had no idea I had such an effect on you, Osin will be devastated by jealousy.” Nyer chuckled, content that things seemed to be aligning in his favor.

Slate relaxed in her embrace having calmed slightly he fell to sleep almost with peace on his face.

“He was an interesting.. toy, but he’s so angry.” Zoeva blushed and giggled, “He could never go any further than he has here, which is sad for him, but he lives a lavish life here. I don’t think anyone is really unhappy that dwells on these levels of the castle.”

“None can besmirch the quality of life you have given to us here my Queen. Soon the Phenix will come to understand this as well and those who discredited you shall see the error in their ways.” Nyer said triumphantly.

“Stay here with me.. See if you like it.” Zoeva smiled and crawled to the head of the plush bed before turning and beckoning Nyer to her.

When Slate came to, Seth was sitting beside him, leaning on the bed with his head resting on crossed arms as he slept. Further into the room was Noelle who too had fallen asleep on a chair. On one of the bedside tables was a basin filled with water and a washcloth, plus some drinking water and a few sweets and fruits.

Nyer eases himself beside his Queen. “I never thought to shear a bead with you in this manner.” He said carrying a blush.

“Dad ... dad ..” Slate was groggy but emotional at the same time as he sat up in the bed and took in his surroundings.

Zoeva and Nyer came to rest entangled in one another’s arms and fell into a restful sleep. As they came to in the morning, the Queen of course had matters to tend to, and at Nyer’s forefront was the same matter of the Phoenix girl as well as his more personal attention to the Dragon.

Before leaving, Zoeva gave Nyer a hug and a deep kiss, then left him to his whims.

Seth opened one eye, and shocked at seeing Slate up, awoke completely himself. “Slate, thank you.. thank you..!” He pulled his son into his arms and held him tightly, “I was so worried.. She said it was bad, but we couldn’t do anything..”

Nyer sat up he knew time was drawing close for him to seize his prize and punish his rival such a feet would be a worthy one for his ascension. He could not mask the smile on his face it would soon be time for him.

“What ... what happened ... it so cloudy ... I was so scared.” Slate was practically shivering as he was trying to rationalize the irrational. His family, his whole world crumbled to pieces and he was terrified of where he found himself. “Are you going to send me away to ?”

Nyer’s obligation laid with Chimera today, who was waiting patiently for the pale Changeling as always.

“No, never.” Seth stated as he cradled Slate against him, “You will always have a home here until there is no eternity left to had.”  From the edge of the room, Noelle exited, leaving only the two Dragons. Seth spoke slowly, “I do not expect you to understand why I have done this, Why this choice was made. Ultimately though... Ultimately I pray that time will make you see, even if you never agree with my actions. But know that I did it out of my love and loyalty to you, Slate.”

Nyer was practically giddy at the idea of going to Chimera not just for the matters of fulfilling his bargain with the Fae but also to tell him what had transpired and his own excitement at being on the cusp of something new.

“I ... I told her to leave the Abyssal Mirror. Please, I beg you do not follow her wherever she chooses to go.” Slate pleaded with a heavy heart the strain of everything still wearing on him. He knew he said something he should not have and wanted Seth to know he had a loyal son but he could not hold the idea of his father harming Opal.

Chimera was eagerly waiting for Nyer at a small table with two chairs that had been brought in for their casual meetings. His wrists and ankles were still bound by chains, but Chimera never seemed to mind.

“Oh hello my pale love..” Chimera smiled broadly, “What has you glowing today?”

“She’s safe. I personally saw to her getting settled into a place that needs her.” Seth answered before kissing Slate’s head, still holding him, “She will be fine. And I promise no harm will come to her from me.”

Nyer took his seat still brimming with the ecstasy of the news. “The Queen has said she intendeds to name me Prince.” Nyer could hardly curtail his excitement.

“I ... thank you.” Slate was relived but still carried a broken heart

“Ooh, much congratulations my lovely Nyer.” Chimera shared in his delight, “So why hasn’t she made the announcement? Or are the arrangements now being made?”

“Tell me, how are you feeling? How is your head?” Seth released his embrace on Slate, looking at him with concern and glazed eyes, “I... I’m sorry. I know.. I know things have been different since Noah left. I know I must seem like the worst parent in existence. I know you must hate me.”

“I need only return the phenix girl for my appointment to be made public, it is electrifying to be on the verge of such greatness.” Nyer was obviously excited. “I do hope me telling you before anyone else will not be upsetting but I simply had to tell someone.”

“It is still a little cloudy but better then I was, tell me what are we going to do now ?” Slate said looking around his room having a hard time feeling as comfortable here as he once did.

Chimera licked his lips, a sort of devious look to him, “Does this mean you’re ready to deliver the final message to her dreams and push her into terror?” Nyer could practically taste Chimera’s excitement at the prospect of what was coming.

“We continue our lives as we once did.” Seth gave a somber smile, trying to be as gentle as he could, “I continue my confined search for Orpheus, because.. My agents.. couldn’t follow him.” The Dragon retracted himself, staring at the floor, “I should’ve made the contract with others when I could still walk Earth.”

“That moment is nearly upon us and soon the wheel will turn again as new threads are revealed.” Nyer was on the cusp of what he could define as giddy excitement. “When all is said and done would you still have my company ?”

“It is going to be alright.” Slate tried to assure his father with a soft smile.

Chimera let loose with a boisterous laugh, standing up with his hands on the table as his excitement seemed to surge, “I wonder... What exactly do you believe you’re role as her prince will be? And as King when it comes to pass?”

“No... not until I can find it in myself to explain everything to you without my own bias getting in the way.” Seth shook his head before looking at Slate, “I have been wildly unfair to you and it needs to end.. But I’m not in a state of mind to tell you anything and you need to rest.. I just.. When your Noah and I fell in love.. I never.. I never thought about having children. I didn’t know it was possible for the Fae. But after seeing this and what I’ve been doing to you, even unknowingly... I...” He rubbed his eyes, trying desperately to contain himself, “You’re an adult and I owe it to you as my blood to be fair to you.”

“Truth be told I have not put much thought towards that.” Nyer mused “I do not know what will happen, all I know is being a servant so I will have to learn what I must become.” Nyer mused as his mind began to ponder.

“Dad you do not have to worry, we are still a family, nothing can ever change that.” Slate said his mind began to buzz as he contemplated what needed to happen to make things right.

“As prince, you will surely still have duties to tend to, primarily still that of your delicious Queen, but..” Chimera cackled, “When you become King, this place becomes yours. You will craft and shape the rules.. You can free me of these bonds if you so choose.”

“I need you to promise that you won’t do anything until I can explain these things to you. Please..Slate..” Seth seems to beg his child, “Give me a week, and whether or not I’m ready, we will talk.”

Nyer got up from his side of the table and came around to Chimera “And what would you do with you freedom if I gave it to you ?” Nyer said his hand tracing over Chimeras shoulder.

“I will give you as much time as you need, I will always.” Slate moved to assure Seth.

“I would go searching for my other parts.. Perhaps fell a few kingdoms if they so got in my way, or offended my lovely pale King.” Chimera gave an deviant smile, watching Nyer intently, “I have no such desire to hurt this place that you call home. Perhaps I might even just stay to serve at your request.”

Seth sighed and feigned a smile, “Perhaps I should relinquish my crown and titles to you. You already seem so much wiser to me.”

“You serve at my request? Now that sounds like a strange arrangement.” Nyer said as he came around to Chimera straddling the creature as the Fae came to sit in its lap.

“Don’t talk like that, your not going anywhere everyone here needs you.” Slate could hardly hide his concern “you know I am old enough you can tell me what is bothering you and maybe I can help.”

“Aren’t you courageous? You realize that I am imprisoned here because everyone else in this world fears me?” Chimera asked leaning his head to Nyer’s, their lips only a breath apart, “And here you, completely unafraid. Tell me my darling Nyer.. What would you ask of me if I were to serve at your whimsy?”

Seth sighed, “I may as well explain this much to you now...”

He took a seat in the chair he had been in when Slate had awoken, and gestured for the young Dragon to the sit himself on the bed, “You and I are different creatures. We’re both the true Dragons for certain, but I am a being entirely of magic, whereas you are half magic, half human. Noah left because this place, Arcadia as a whole.. it changes everything it touches. He cannot stay here for too long at a time, because it affects him differently than it does most humans, because he is something that is known as Awakened, otherwise, a Mage. A welder of magic. Being here for lengths of time warps his views and morals and him.”

“Once upon a time I might have feared you but now I want to write a different story.” Nyer said with a grin “When I am King maybe I will ask you to serve me in such wild ways that your mind has not yet conceived.” Nyer challenged wrapping his arms around the Fae creature.

“I am sure he is looking for a way to come back to us, we have each other but he is all alone wherever he is. We cannot despair while we know he wants to come home.” Slate had barely dealt with his separation from Noah himself but he could not conceive the loss his father felt.

Chimera couldn’t hide his excitement at the prospects before them, not himself physically from Nyer as the Changeling sat on his lap, “Careful my pale love, you write thoughts and feelings that you may not be able to handle.”

“Slate.. because you have only been in Arcadia, I suspect that this world had treated you as a Changeling, like Noelle, or Opal or the others that inhabit our lands.” Seth tried to explain what he wasn’t himself sure of, “You.. You could leave if you wanted. You could travel the mortal world and maybe even find Noah. If you’re anything like me, you’ll be fascinated by it. I’ve taught you about contracts, and I had a long standing one with a family line until she severed it and I came back here.. Forever. But I do not see those ties on you. And I don’t.. I don’t want you to leave, but you don’t have to always be within these walls, the confines of this place. You can travel as I once did... See the world, make friends, have experiences you cannot have here.. Fall in love, as I did.”

“I have yet meet a whim I could not handle perhaps it is you that needs caution.” Nyer allowed his hands to traverse down Chimeras torso “What stories I might write someday, those prospects you seem to enjoy.” Nyer licked his lips speaking in an ever sultry way.

“I will make sure everyone is happy, you, Noah, everyone I promise you.” Slate swore flashing a flicker of glamour to his words and binding himself to that oath “you do not need to be afraid of being alone, I promise you that.”

“Such confidence.. That will be good when you are King.” Chimera kept his lips close to Nyer’s, “Are you using this moment as practice for your inevitable triumph, my Nyer?”

“If... If you want to go the Material world, Noelle can take you. Your father and I.. we had several homes across the world there. You can use any of them as you see fit, and we have wealth to supply you with anything you could possibly want.” Seth buried his face in the palms of his hands, “When we both performed in the Night Circus, Noah could feel the pulls of leylines, the areas where magic converges. Some cities in the new world that were beyond the circus had an immense supernatural pull and from what I’ve gathered, he may be somewhere near the Eastern coast of the new world. You should rly to find him and talk with him. And.. if you do.. Tell him I...” Seth’s voice cracked.

“I think we can both enjoy this moment.” Nyer said “Everything is coming together and it is so close to perfect.”

Slate embraced his father “Dad, i will find him and find away for us to come together again but I refuse to leave you, not like this.”

“Well I enjoy just having you here, so how can I help you enjoy yourself?” Chimera asked in a breathy whisper against Nyer’s lips, teasing the Changeling.

Seth held his son, fighting not to completely loose his emotions, “I may as well divulge this to you now.. perhaps it will alleviate some of your discomfort.. But for the reasons I just explained to you, I had to let Opal out into the Material world. She’s safer there. This place can’t hurt her anymore. Those from the Court of Night know she’s here, even though we know the truth. Abel, whom you may not know is a creature known crudely as a Helldiver. He is our spy and has brought me evidence for a time now of the Court of Night’s own spies. They’ve found Opal time and time again despite my best efforts to dissuade them. Scouting the Edge and the reaches beyond, I created a replica Phoenix, so I prayed our enemies will be fooled... But I needed Opal to hate me enough, that she wouldn’t try to come back unless you bring her back.”

“I would have hoped you knew how I enjoyed things by now I suppose I am not as memorable as I thought.” Nyer teased his hands running up the Faes throat through his hair and back down again.

“This is crazy, what if they find her now there will be no one to protect her.” Slate was nervous “Why so t these people leave us alone.”

“Well, you know my hands are tied. There is only so much I have control over in these shackles of mine.” Chimera purred, relishing in the attention from Nyer before kissing his lips softly.

“She’s shielded for some time.. I sent her off into the world with Noelle as a temporary guide and another longer term companion.” Seth looked at Slate, his worries showing through his features,  “One of the puppies she had reported being born in the labyrinth was weak, so she secretly had taken it in and nursed it back to health before letting it return to its family. It’s with her and can detect the Fae and those who have been touched by its magic.”

Nyer could have melted into the quick affection had it not been so abrupt “Oh the thought of you bound up is so tantalizing but once my duties are done I might be able to fully entice you.”

Slate breathed a sigh of relief “thank you.” Slate managed to murmur “how about we get dinner ?” Slate said in a more positive light.

“You already know how much I desire you, but these bindings contain me.” Chimera moved his lips to Nyer’s neck as he spoke in a deep whisper, “I am limited in my strength and I cannot break these.. so I cannot indulge in feeling you unless you help me..” He pressed his lips against Nyer’s skin.

Seth looked quizzically at his son for a moment, trying to register what wa happening. “I suppose you would be hungry.. you’ve been sleeping for nearly two weeks. What would you like prepared?”

“Oh I am well aware of your desires.” Nyer said with a devious smile “they are not to different then my own but I want to play a little game and see if you earn your reward. Nyer proceeded to stand up and brace himself against the table, he slowly slipped out of his shirt allowing his hands to caress over his own form working towards his lower half in a sensual manner. “I wonder how it feels to be so close and yet so far ? Does it make you mad or curious?”

“I do not want anything prepared, I want the two of us to go out so you can see the kingdoms where so many people admire you and look up to you. On top of that I was shown a great spot for hearty food.” Slate said smiling hoping for an opportunity to come about for him to mend some of the divide that came between him and his father due to his youth and events that had transpired.

Chimera licked his lips as his gaze followed Nyer’s hands, “Do not forget my lovely Nyer, I have been patient for a great many eras. The wait only makes victory more delicious.” While his words have have been true, his eagerness was evident. He raised his gaze to meet the Changeling’s, grinning, “Does it make you mad or curious, to have to wait on engaging me so? Although.. is there a rule saying you need to?”

“Are you certain?” Seth hesitated, “I haven’t gone outside of the palace in some time.. I cannot imagine what has been going on.”

“I have always wondered which part of me you enjoyed most ...” Nyer said with a grin running his hands across his body revealing the front of his body slightly before turning around and laying against the table and revealing some of his backside and looking over his shoulder to Chimera. “Do we need rules, can an era pass in a blink?” Nyer asked.

 “I think that is just what you need, to remember you matter to people to.” Slate smiled “should we get going ?”

“Your eyes.” Chimera replied without hesitation as he watched the Changeling tease him, “I don’t believe you realize how much one can convey through their sight, and whether or not you know it, yours are very alluring... I wonder what would happen if you became aware of it, how you could use just a look to bring worlds to their knees.” The strange faerie creature licked his lips again, making sure he held Nyer’s gaze as he did so.

“Yes.. Lead the way.” Seth decided there was in point in arguing as Slate was right, and he had done enough damage today.

Nyer snickered “What a way with words you have.” He stood up before moving to lean against Chimera so that his back was to the Faes chest.

Slate graves a few things before leading Seth out of the castle and doing his best to follow the path that Opal had lead him through. “I know you will love the food when we get there.”

“An yet you continue to tease me so..” Chimera breathed against the faerie’s neck as he sat still, enjoying the closeness of another, “You must be so very excited at your future prospects as prince and then king.”

As the two walked through the kingdom, Slate was able to recognize the way that Opal had taken him by finding her dilapidated shack, her chest still tucked under the bed. From there, the path to the bbq sort of buffet was easy to find.

Seth looked around at the place, “I had no idea any of this was here.”

“I think you could hardly hold such feelings against me now can you ?” Nyer said with a smile as he leaned against the Fae “I have waited long enough and at last everything is coming together so perfectly.”

Slate could not help but take a long glance at the shack as they passed by he was rushed with feelings. As they approached he turned to Seth “This Place is great you are going to love it.”

Chimera licked Nyer’s neck before placing a soft affection at his ear and whispering, “Patience garners the greatest rewards, but you are making it truly difficult to contain myself.” Nyer could feel the faerie creature’s obvious want through both their clothing.

Seth didn’t miss the Look Slate had given the hut, “I’m sure... perhaps on the way back, we can stop back and you can take that chest in there.”

The two arrived at the outside dining pavilion shortly. A handful of the Changelings there were quick to notice the pair of Dragons and word did spread, but it appeared as though things were to run per normal.

“I believe that is an area which I am very specialized.” Nyer said with a breathy hint of relaxation “has the Queen come to see you since your confinement here ?”

“I guess nothing really gets past you.” Slate chuckled but the weight of such awareness was daunting and he could not fathom the strain it must cause his father. He grabbed some food and sat alongside Seth “I want to bring some joy back to this land.”

"Twice, but she stayed far from me.. At the edges of my tower here." Chimera seemed almost to lament, "But I believe if anyone could sway her to my favor, it would be you... After all, I didn't harm her in the least during my reign." Chimera breathed again against Nyer's skin as he spoke, inhaling the Changeling's scent.

"It is a fault of being the creator to this place, and sharing my flesh to help in birthing you." Seth answered, his cheeks flushing slightly at the memory, "As half of myself and half of Noah, we all share an insight into one another that no one else could possibly possess.. Except perhaps between you and your friend." He referred to Opal as he looked at the plates at food before them, a smile threatening to break out as he observed them, "I at least understand why she wanted to do the things she wanted to do... She brought you here, didn't she?"

“What a shame, my light of lights cannot see the beauty in her dark reflection.” Nyer mused licking his lips slightly lowering his head on his shoulder. “So you miss my Queen then ? Tell me do you truly?” Nyer spoke in a breathy fashion.

“The first time we snuck out of the castle we came here so this place holds a special connection I guess.” Slate blushed at the admission “you know you taught me so much, now I need to return what you lost.”

“I do. I rather loved you both, but she is so smitten with you, there is no room for anyone else in her gaze.” Chimera was completely captivated by the pale Changeling, “But I do not want you to think that my thoughts do not conjure you up in my mind, both in memory of what we’ve done and fantasy of what I hope will be.”

“I just... I want you to be able on your own, for whatever may come. There’s no possible way to prepare you for everything the plains of existence can offer, but if you can be quick on your feet and in your mind, then I consider my job done well.” Seth spoke as he picked at the food on his own plate, “I was so unprepared for when I met your father... After our first handful of meetings, which I would say didn’t go well, although not poorly either, I visited his dreams. I had to know what he really thought. I... I don’t have any advice on love to give you, other than doing what you feel is right.”

“How does it feel knowing you have a Prince in your arms ?” Nyer said with a breath one of his hands tracing along the Faes body “there are people that will resent me though and if something were to happen to me could you please take care of my Queen ?”

“You did your part now it is my turn as your son to show you just what I can do.” Slate said confidently

“I would keep her safe even after your return.” Chimera mused with a smile, “Perhaps we could conceive a contract binding our fears and desires. After all, if anyone were to wrong you in any way, they immediately have me as their enemy. Of course.. we could draw such business out after some fun?” His gaze continually traveled over Nyer’s form and he was keen on every touch the pale Changeling granted him.

Seth was quiet a long moment as he studied the Dragon prince before he quietly said, “What exactly are you thinking?”

“I look forward to conceiving all sorts of things with you but honestly I do not know how you can control the desire of this moment.” Nyer spoke with heat now turning to face the Fae and bringing his lips to just beneath his ear and neck.

“I need to go beyond the thorns and find a way to bring our family back together again.” Slate said with seriousness “but I need you to understand I am not running from you.”

“Mmm.. You probably do not realize how unfair you’re being to me right now, but I so love you and your games..” Chimera purred, his muscles flexing as he fought not to break the chains binding him, “Tell me Prince Nyer, are you truly afraid of your rivals may harm you?”

The light seemed to vanish from Seth’s eyes as Slate’s words sunk in. He was quiet again for a long moment before came a weak, “When we return to the castle, I need to give you the key.. Like I gave your father.”

“No I am not but one cannot help being cautious in such situations and I rather enjoy making deals with you as the signing of such things tends to be exhilarating.” Nyer said before working his affections southward to the Faes collarbone.

“I would ask you to come with me, the truth is, I am terrified with the idea of being away from you, all I know is this place and what is beyond is terrifying but I would do anything to put back together what we have loss.” Slate tried to sound confident despite his own nervousness.

“Must you excite me so?” Chimera groaned at the traveling affections, “Your touch makes it wonderfully distracting for me to gather my thoughts into something beneficial for both of us.”

“I knew you wouldn’t stay here forever. And it’s not possible for me to venture back to the human world in any case.” The Dragon admitted, staring off into the void beyond the inner mirror, “I purposely broke the contract I held with a particular family’s bloodline. The last one I had a contract with gave up her emotion of romance. And after meeting my diamond.. I realized that I was so wrong to accept such terms. But you shouldn’t be bound by the same restrictions as I am. You’re only half faerie, so you might just fall under the purview of Changeling. Perhaps you should speak to Noelle. She can tell you what to expect.”

“Do you really wish for me to stop ? I must be losing my touch.” Nyer snickered as his affection worked further down nearing the center of the Faes chest.

“I will but for now we can enjoy our meal together.” Slate said assuredly his mind pondering the contract that once existed.

“Truthfully no.. I crave contact, particularly from you.” Chimera tried in earnest to break the chains, “Why are you doing this? What is it you truly want from our conversations?”

“Do you..” Seth cleared his throat, “Do you have anything you want to ask me? I don’t want to have secrets from you, just like I don’t have secrets from Noah.”

“At first all I wanted was the means to take my revenge on the dragon but the more time I spent with you the more I remembered just how much I loved being in your company.” Nyer got adventurous with his hands as he spoke “now that everything is falling into place I just really want to celebrate.”

“Yeah, are you looking forward to when I bring him back here ? Maybe we can all come here together.” Slate said with a smile “Is there anyone you want me to check on for you on the other side ?”

Chimera purred at the sensual caressing, his body clearly wanting, “Will you forget about me after your ascension? I would be ever so heartbroken in such an event.”

“Yes.. I think Noah would enjoy this place.” Seth smiled at his diminishing plate of food, “There is a thing called the Night Circus I’d like if you could visit. There’s a number of people who were a part of it and I wonder how they’re doing.. Ada, the ringmaster is one individual. She’s of particular interest to me. Also there’s a pair of fire breathers who I was close with.. I doubt any of the original crew are still there, are even alive, but it would be nice to know if any are doing well.”

“You know me better then that.” Nyer said slyly his affection now finding its way somewhere around the Faes chest “after all the special moments we have had, it is my heart that hurts knowing you are bound to this place against your will which is one motivation for me giving myself to you so that you can remember our past.”  Nyer was now at his knees and found himself lower towards the Faes stomach.

“I will find out what happened to them for you.” Slate smiled “Besides dad were there any others there that you were friends with ?” Slate enquired

Chimera watched the Changeling with an inquisitive gaze, “What would you say if I told you that you had the means of freeing me? Do you really wish to proceed without me being able to reciprocate exactly how I feel for you?”

“There is another.. Her name was Zoya and she a part of the circus as well.” Seth leaned forward on the table, lowering his voice, “Ada was in love with this Mage, but she knew such relationships at the time were taboo, so for her end of her family’s lasting contract with me, Ada offered up her emotion of romance. Once I pieced together what was happening, I... I returned here with your father, severing the contract and giving her back her ability to love and feel love. Ultimately, Zoya married another young man from the circus and they had a son... I’m not sure if Zoya or her husband Matvey are still alive, but she came from a potent arcane bloodline that originally had roots in Arcadia. Finding her lineage may even help you in finding my... Our Diamond.”

“What if I freed you and another stole your interest in me.” Nyer spoke with breathy seduction. “Do you wish to be out of these shackles already?”

“You seem to have fond memories of the human world and had quite a few friends there.” Slate spoke with a deep sense of admiration “I hope I can find friends there to.”

Chimera laughed, “Do you truly believe that any other could hold my attention as you do? Do you not know that I would always have you in my favor even if you decided you hated me? I would starve myself of life itself if it meant your attentions.” He peered intently at Nyer, flexing his stomach.

“You will have no problem finding friends.” Seth chuckled, “You’re young and charismatic. Besides, the natural state of what you are will inherently draw people to you. It’s both a blessing and a curse.”

“What a good answer, I think you deserve a lavish reward for being so charming.” Nyer said as he lowered himself between the Faes legs. “We need to sign our contract after all.” The deviant fae licked his lips.

“Well if I am any of those things, it would be because of growing up here. I will track down this night circus and your friends for you.” Slate smiled looking out over the scenery around him.

Chimera was stricken silent by the look in the Changeling's eyes, and his excitement at the lavish praise was anything but subtle, particularly after all their talk and all Nyer's affections.

"I will be honest... I have dreaded, and still dread, you're venturing into the mortal world. While I do not hunt those who wish to leave here, most other Fae do. And it wouldn't surprise me if you caught the attention of a few. You need not only to speak to Noelle about her experiences, but I have sheltered a few runaways from other Fae Keepers. You might do well to speak to them and learn more of the Huntsmen." Seth was unhappy with his son scheming this adventure, but he was obviously not going to stop him and leave Slate as well prepared as possible.

Nyers hands worked nimbly to free Chimeras excitement “oh, every time I free you I cannot help but be awe struck at the sight of you. Have I ever complimented your beauty.” Nyer spoke greedily.

“I sure will.” Slate agreed to his fathers terms. “Why would anyone send a huntsmen after me if not you ?”

“I don’t believe you have, but how often before have you had me restrained for such activities?” Chimera smirked, “Will you be the same when I am unbound?” It was clear he could do little against the shackles holding him, but found joy in the attention Nyer was giving just the same.

“I am too powerful for huntsmen to confront me, even in a human body, dare I say particularly as one of the eleven. However, I have enemies and devout fans because of it and because I do tend to flaunt my powers at times.” Seth looked into the distance with a serious expression, “If I had known then that I would be a father and that the creation of life was possible through non-arcane means... It certainly would’ve changed many of my choices.” He was quiet for a moment before his eyes narrowed upon Slate, “You hail from the original lineage of Dragons. Mortals have stories and legends about them, but those very ideas are based off of what a few ‘madmen’ had glimpsed, even as far as the eastern cultures on earth. You are strong and smart and cunning. I know you can take care of yourself, but still, I want you to hold as much information with which to defend yourself. And obviously money will be no issue for you there.”

“I have never treated yo differently weather you were here or sitting on a throne although I doubt I would be able to play with you in such a way without restraints. Some part of me is still expecting you to free yourself of these bindings.” Nyer said before revealing his tongue and working around the tip of the Faes excitement.

“I know your nervous but I am a dragon I will make you proud.” Slate sounded confident “if one of your enemies tries something then they will have to deal with me.” Slate said with a proud growl.

Chimera groaned at the decadent affection, still fighting the shackles, “That is true... But only one can remove these from me, and it seems that cannot be done unless she deems my help as a last resort.” He watched intently as the Changeling worked him, practically salivating as the thought of having the faerie touched.

“I trust you Slate. I know you have abilities and skills and talents all beyond my own. What I fear is what lengths others may go to get to you.” Seth offered his concerns freely, “I do know that those who escape Arcadia tend to join an organization named a Court. Apparently there’s some unseen strength in this setup because any Huntsmen looking to capture a Changeling to return to their Fae keeper must abide by the rules set by the Court. I’m certain it varies place to place, but if this is true, it will certainly help you avoid them. There is one other piece of advice that may be a burden to bare, however.. But I’d remiss if I didn’t offer it.”

“Well I cannot compel her to do anything she does not wish but I can help free you of this burden.” Nyer could hardly believe he suggested such an idea as freeing Chimera least of all while he was here he was only Nyers. He banished the thought by getting greedily to work on the Fae.

“What ... what is it ?” Slate questioned what was possible thing his father could say that would have him carry some measure of trepidation

“Mmm! My dearest Nyer... You are not the only one to strike a contract with me- Your lips are divine!” Chimera groaned loosing his thoughts as his hips bucked to the Changeling’s treatment.

Seth took a long moment, observing Slate before he finally spoke, “It would probably be most unwise to mention that you’re related to me. I do not know any other Fae that are even a shred so kind to those they abscond with. I doubt it would be looked kindly upon if any knew the true nature of your blood beyond you trying to find Noah. Which reminds me, he may be going by his Awakened name of Orpheus.”

Nyer allowed Chimera a few thrust before coming up for air “Oh, you have had other visitors then that you have been meeting with, hopefully few as memorable as me or should I be jealous?” Nyer played before running his tongue along the length of the Fae in a showy performance.

“It will be so strange being so secretive and why was Noah using such a name ?” Slate was obviously bewildered “I guess in a way I must have been training with all my sneaking around.” Slate was reasoning with himself.

“No.. she doesn’t hold my interest nearly an unlit candle to you.” Chimera groaned still fixated as Nyer worked him, “Only once at the beginning did she come speak with me and a few nights after to make the contract. She’s got a clever failsafe should things ever start to go wrong here.. but with you as her eventual King... Fuck!... I have no doubts that I shall remain in chains forever here.”

“For you, it shouldn’t be too much of a problem. You don’t need to hide your Draconic nature and should be proud of it, or at least, I hope you are. It’s just I do not want the Freeholds to turn against you because of something beyond your control. You can simply say, without lying, but just omitting details of truth, that you were brought to Arcadia in the 1900’s.” Seth reasoned it out with his son, “As for Noah.. the reason he goes by Orpheus is because of the nature of Awakened society. He cannot give out his real name or it can be used against him. It is the name I first knew him by actually...” He smiled down at his empty plate as the memory came back to him.

Nyer took his tongue away from the Fae and slowly began to discard his clothing “you think you will linger in these chains forever ? You are so clever surly every deal you have made has some way to work for you.” Nyer said relishing his own body “do you think my ascension will keep you alone and forgotten ? I would never do such a thing.” Nyer explained licking his fingers and working himself into the right mood.

“Thank you for telling me everything but maybe it is time we made are way home ?” Slate asked with a smile grasping everything he was told

“No, I could not spin my words as such. She was quite...” Chimera’s thoughts trailed as his gaze greedily drank Nyer’s exposed form in, “Absolute in her demands. I wonder if you could find such a way around the contract between her and I, but why do you desire me to be free so much?” His excitement throbbed and dripped with Nyer’s saliva as the Fae observed him.

“Yes.. we can pass by that hut again and you can get that chest within.” Seth answered, standing and leaving a small satchel of spices and herbs from the material world on the table, “Shall we?”

“I was designed for the Queen, made, shaped, twisted, and molded to be her companion and though my feeling for her ring true it is impossible for me to say anything to contradict this truth. Yet when you held power you chose me without regard and some part of me feels like it should always belong to you.” Nyer said as he mounted atop the Fae and slowly brought their bodies together with a groan of relief, when Nyer had taken what he could he said “what bargain did you strike with the Queen ?”

“That would be nice, there is something there I wish to make sure is safe.” Slate admitted realizing that this might be one of the last meals he might shear with his father.

Chimera let out a breath of relief as Nyer’s body squeezed him, the Fae giddy at such a turn of events come to both their favors. He looked at the Changeling with a smirk on his lips, “Should your Queen ever fall into distress beyond powers greater than what she can handle, my chains will fall free to serve at her whimsy. Otherwise it was to be that I would never seen another creature again... And that sounds ever so boring. And it would’ve meant never having the chance of crossing paths with you my lovely Nyer again.”

“Of course.” Seth stood and the two walked back the way they’d come from until reaching the abandoned shelter, “I can carry that for you if you’d like.”

“Yet here I am.” Nyer could not help but groan as his hips slowly moved “you are never going to be without me so part of your contract you are freed of” Nyer gasped allowing himself to enjoy the moment.

“I think I can manage it.” Slate smiled “what will you do while I am away, I hate the idea of you having no one to confide in.” Slate spoke as they walked along.

“So confident!” Chimera groaned as his hips bucked upwards to Nyer’s body, “Are you envious of the idea of the queen with me or me with the queen?”

“Perhaps it’s time for me to enter the slumber and see to my other obligation for a time.” Seth pondered aloud as the two began to move from from the hut to their palace, “I couldn’t bare missing a second of watching you grow so I’ve been somewhat neglectful of my responsibilities.”

Nyer let out a moan as soon as Chimera began to move making focus almost impossible for him “I think the answer is both ... I guess you could call me greedy over you two.” Nyer attempted to move his hips.

“If That is what you think is best.” Slate shook his head

“You must be speaking truthfully... You somehow managed to get tighter.” Chimera smirked before biting his lip as he was obviously enjoying himself as he watched Nyer, “So your ideal would be caught between your Queen and I? How absolutely decadent that will be for you when it comes..”

“You disapprove.” Seth stated with some remiss, “What should I do then? I mean.. I have Noelle to talk freely with, but.. It’s not the same. My heart is already barely holding together, but I know this is something that I cannot keep you from. You need to experience the material world.”

“I can think of nothing better.” Nyer groaned moving almost greedily “the thought of endlessly enjoying one another in all ways possible, learning one another truest desires and knowing our most honest selves together. No title in the world can compete with that life.” Nyer struggled to get his words out between moans.

“I suppose you do always have noelle to talk to but I was hoping you would do something that would bring you joy rather then responsibility.” Slate mused “I guess that might be childish of me but I never found out what you enjoyed to do before me, before dad, what puts a smile on your face ?”

"Then I shall give you at least half of what you desire!" Chimera exclaimed before using all his might to thrust repeatedly to the Changeling's backside several times with both speed and force, grinning wide as he watched for Nyer's reaction.

"I suppose there were two things I enjoyed before meeting Noah and realizing something I had missed all that time wandering the material world.." Seth mused to his son, "I found both joy and sadness in rescuing children here to Arcadia, but I made a vow to only take those who were in dire situations.. And change. It's one thing about humanity that fascinates me because it's completely unpredictable. For centuries I wondered what I would've been like as a mortal, born into any era of mankind. What decisions would I have made in the face of catastrophe or for survival.. Or in what is known currently as modern day, perhaps what clothing, what career. But meeting Noah... He caused a shift in who and what I wanted for life even in the face of eternity. I wouldn't change a thing that happened between him and I, even his leaving here. I know deep down, it's nothing you or I did. It's the nature of his being an Awakened, and how Arcadia can warp his senses in a manner much different than a mortal."

The two walked past the castle gates and the doors to the entry hall were opened for their return. The Dragon looked at Slate, "What will you do now?"

Nyers tongue practically dangled from his mouth as he greedily took each thrust with wanton anticipation of another. “Let’s make this contract something neither of us can forget.” Nyer groaned his satisfaction to the point that he could hardly care if they were caught by anyone.

“Well then when was the last time you looked at humanity maybe they are up to something you will find interesting.” Slate said now with his regular confident smile hopeful that he and his father found some common ground. “I suppose I need to get ready you told me to talk to Noelle and wow there is just so much to do.”

“As you so command prince Nyer.” Chimera smirked as he thrust several more times into the Changeling, “I shall be sure this is a night you will not soon forget my darling love.”

“I would need someone else to go there and find a willing person to sign a contract with me for me to return. I held it with Ada form the Night Circus and her family previous for many generations, but I couldn’t find it within myself to deny her feeling true love.. Not after I found Noah.” Seth smiled and placed a comforting hand on his son’s shoulder, “I will take some time to do something that makes me smile before finding sleep. And I will not rush you out of here. You take all the time you need to prepare.”

“Keep going!” Nyer cried out “don’t stop until I can walk away carrying you.” Nyer groaned becoming more of a lust driven fiend with every moment.

“Thank you.” Slate said expressing his appreciation as he carried a smile and began to make his way to his room but before straying to far he turned around and quickly embraced his father “I promise I am coming home someday.”

“Oh my lovely Nyer; I’m not going to have you walking for sometime.” Chimera groaned as he continued thrusting hard, never straying form his fast pace, “I shall not stop until you are dripping with lust from being so full.”

Seth drew his arms around Slate, holding him tightly, “... There is still one more matter for you and I to cover, but we will do that once you’re ready to leave. It’s a key to come back home.”

“Then there is only one more condition I must tell you about. “ Nyer said with a groan moving his hips in greedy passion “everything you do to me, I shall to you, so we can both savor this experience.”

“Ok ... I just wanted you to know that just because I am leaving does not mean I am leaving you behind.” Slate pulled back and composed himself.

“Can you manipulate my position in such a manner to claim me as I claim you?” Chimera groaned, wildly thrusting as he nearer his peak, “Such a greedy creature you are.. I wonder when did such a thing occur.”

“I know, and I understand.. I always wanted you to be able to see it with your own eyes.” Seth smiled, “Now why not rest for the rest of the day.. there’s no rush to leave is there?”

“I can attest that greed in some part to you, I have always wanted to touch you in such a way but never had the chance until now.” Nyer was moaning in deep heat his body throbbing with each thrust his hand making his way to his own extremity in anticipation of his release.

“I actually like that idea, I am still a little tired from everything.” Slate agreed turning to make his way towards his room to rest.

“All you needed to do was ask, but my being shackled to this chair certainly does not help with such a wish unless you have some creative answer.. Now take all of me!” Chimera seemed delirious with passion as he thrust hard into Nyer, his member throbbing as it flooded white sticky lust into the Changeling.

“Do not forget the chest. You should keep it for when you come across her again.” Seth gave him a tired smile.

Nyer could hardly get out more then a sensual gasp as Chimera flooded him with ecstasy Nyer found his own body yielding prolific spurts of his own lust.

After a few moments Nyer regained some measure of composure “I will find a way to get a true taste you after all there must be some freezing in those binds.”

“Mmm, how exciting it shall be when that night falls upon us.” Chimera purred against Nyer’s skin as he leaned into the Changeling best he could, “I wonder what delights I can relish in when you are the one making a claim.”

“Your paths are meant to cross. After all, you are still her protector, and she’s your treasure.” Seth seemed to beam with pride at his son, “She might’ve been given to me, but you were the one there for her. She belongs to you.”

“Why should you wait when we have now ?” Nyer said playfully leaning as his played as greedy as it could.

“I guess that is a way of putting it.” Slate smiled in obvious agreement.

“You have made quite a lot of time for me this night already, and you crave more.” The Fae creature stated with lust oozing from his voice, “You are free to manipulate me as you so please because I cannot. These chains are more than what to seem. For me, they are equivalent to Cold Iron for the Faerie. They will not harm you or anyone else.. But I cannot move how I would so love to while held prisoner. So show me Nyer, how will you have me?”

“Go rest Slate.. You have much ahead of you.” Seth more suggested than commanded as he was apt to doing with his family, “I will always be here whenever you need me. And I do have something for you before you go, but we will save that for later. We will be both need our strength for it.”

“I will have you every way I can imagine and perhaps we might invent some new ways.” Nyer said sliding off of the Fae turning so Chimera might appreciate his handy work. “I have been thinking about this for ages.” Nyer said greedily pulling Chimera forward and finding his ways to his knees “your very beautiful from this angle as well.”

Content Slate retuned to his room to recover.

“Now perhaps you understand what I feel when I see you from different angles or simply as you are.” Chimera licked his lips as he tried to watch the pale faerie, “Beauty resides everywhere if only one knows how to look.”

Time passed and the kingdom felt different, almost empty as no one knew Slate the same way that Opal had. At Seth’s command, Noelle made sure that she was available to educate Slate on the workings of the mortal world and more detailed and precise hierarchy of the Freeholds. A new day came and nearly a week later, Seth brought the Dragon prince down to the chamber at the bottom of the lava pool where Seth slumbered. It was a place where magic seemed to be born and echoed out into the rest of Arcadia. He explained that he was going to give Slate the Dragon’s eye, which was a tool by which Slate could return home through any reflective surface by activating the magic within the magical tattoo. The process of engraving it was long and arduous for both Dragons, but Seth was insistent that Slate have it, just as Noah did.

“Oh if only I could make you understand the drumming anticipation I feel in my chest right now.” Nyer said his hands grabbing the supple flesh before allowing his tongue to begin teasing the Faes entrance.

Slate sat there with his back against one of the warm walls, the pain was like nothing he had experienced in his life and he sat there curled up in a ball his hand gripping the most tender parts of his form, delicate tears beaded in his eyes.

“Mmm... so delicate..” Chimera purred, his body arcing at the new pleasure, “So I suppose your Queen does prefer a gentle touch, but you can be whatever you so desire with me.”

Seth ventured off the far end of the room, a trail of blood dripping his path. He came back staggering moments later with a dark glass bottle in hand and took a taste from it. He stopped in front of Slate and offered the bottle to him with no words as of yet.

“Oh how can I deny you after seeing you like this ...” Nyer could hardly control the blush which only rivaled his want in the moment he pressed his tongue deep and used one of his hands to caress the Fae to entice more pleasure.

Skates hands were trembling as he reached to grab the bottle “are we going to be ok ....” Slate winced as he spoke.

“”Mm what a deviant you are... And to think you weren’t even designed for me in such a way..” Chimera groaned in excitement as his body moved in tandem with the Changeling’s pleasurable touch, “This is truly what you wish to pursue?”

“Yes. I know it’s beyond anything you’ve experienced before and I hope it’s the worst thing you will ever have to endure.” Seth answered as he slowly slid down against the wall, next to Slate, “I’m sorry I had to put you through it, but I want you to always be able to come home with ease, and have my protection even when I cannot physically be with you. You handled it well. You’re so much stronger than I wanted you to be.. I... I never wanted you or your father to leave. But that was greedy of me.”

Nyer continued on undaunted for a moment savoring the moment as he could but soon enough he came to stand and looked over Chimera with an excited smile. “Have I done something to make you think otherwise ?” Nyer said before brushing some saliva from his lips.

“Dad.” Slate spoke in as casual a way as possible as he tried to bring himself to stand “this place will always be my home and I will always come back here. I know you will always be with me.” Slate smiled looking at the mark on his arm.

“During my reign here, the only one who ever wanted me was you, and while I delighted in such a fact, I always wondered if it was only for the sake of your Queen.” Chimera admitted without shame, looking his shoulder, “And yet here you are, indulging with me in a completely new way.” His entrance was slick and twitched with eager anticipation.

“This will make you more potent than others you will encounter on the other side.” The Dragon explained as he looked up at Slate, “This mark will also give you more stamina and a supernatural shield, as well as grant you ease of traveling back here. I had hoped that it wouldn’t of come so soon, but... You endured well.”

Nyer caressed himself with the earlier spent excitement looking over Chimera with admiration in his eyes. “Oh there is no real way to explain the feeling that beat in my chest, it is amusing how the same feeling can be so different yet so very much the same for different individuals.” Nyer spoke as he prodded.

Slate stood silent but accepted the praise looking on with a smile and determined face.

“Mm my lovely Nyer, you needn’t be so shy about your emotions with me.” Chimera purred again as he felt the Changeling’s excitement slick against him, “That’s part of the fun and excitement of this venture.”

“You’re going to be staying a few more days or no?” Seth asked with hesitation.

“The way your looking at me, it makes me feel like you want me, that you want this.” Nyers words oozed with excitement as he brought himself to thrust into the Fae letting out a deep groan glimmering with satisfaction. “On you are so tight.” Nyer said as he moved.

“Maybe a little while longer so that I can recover but I cannot stay forever, otherwise I will never get started.” Slate chuckled.

Chimera salivated as the Changeling began his claim, savoring every thrust and moan that both Nyer gave and elicited form the Fae himself, “This must be somewhat you’ve truly wanted... You’re ever so collected while taking me in such a way.”

“Good.” Seth stated before taking another long taste of the dark alcohol, “When your strength comes back in full, it should be greater than before. And it shouldn’t take long, perhaps two days.”

“Your body is so eager for me.” Nyer groaned as he moved from a steady pace to almost start grinding against the Fae “let me see just what your body enjoys ...” Nyer maneuvered his hands so that one could teas an area of the Faes chest while the other worked his extremity.

“Then we still have a few more days together.” Slate smiled “so is there anyway for you to make it to the other side ? I k ow the Thorns make it challenging but there must be a way.” Slate was sounding determined.

“You were certainly crafted and shaped for lustful pleasures.” Chimera groaned, moving his hips in tandem with Nyer.

“I would need to make a contract, but the terms for mine are not light. I require more potency to the contract than most.” Seth explained as he stood, his arm hanging limpy as it dripped with blood.

“I hope that means you are enjoying yourself.” Nyer groaned moving to intensify his pace even as Chimeras lust drilled down his legs from earlier it was clear the Changeling was enjoying himself even if he seemed to be nearing his peak.

“What kind of terms ?” Slate questioned his mind running quickly with schemes.

“How could I could I not?” The Fae asked as he arched his back, his hips pushing upwards to Nyer, “I only hope this is not our last.”

“They are heavy and breaking the contract can be detrimental... Perhaps you’d best seek out Ada, the ringmaster, before looking to set me up with something.” Seth could see the wheels grinding in Slate’s mind.

“Why are you thinking such grim things ...” Nyer groaned as the sensation proved to be to much for him and he erupted with desire collapsing against the Faes Chest as he kept himself deep within Chimera.

“I will find her.” Slate said as a matter of fact. “I am going to open up every door I can for us to have the lives we earned.”

Chimera’s body tightening around Nyer as the Changeling deposited his essence into the Fae, his own extremity erupting sticky lust. He nuzzled against Nyer best he could, “I only do not wish to be disappointed or torn from you.”

“Be careful Slate... You may not like the answers the world beyond provides for you.” Seth warned as gently as he knew how.

“I have no interest in abandoning you to such a Fate and after such a delight just imagine the games we will play when you are free of these chains.” Nyer said looking to admire his work.

“I will find what I need to find weather the world there likes it or not.” Slate assured himself “I will take away the gloom hanging over us.”

“You truly are going to free me even after the havoc I caused..” Chimera mused was he gazed at Nyer, grinning madly, “I think perhaps you and I may not be so different.”

“I just... I just want to know that my Diamond is okay.” Seth spoke softly, his gaze falling to the ring on his finger, “I needed to protect Opal by making sure she wasn’t where whoever it is spying on her needed her to be... And I just.. I know it’s not how Noah would’ve wanted it to happen, but I can’t change it now... But I need to know he’s okay.. I wonder...” his voice trailed off but echoed off the grand chamber, “Is this what Jasper felt...?”

“Perhaps you have had an effect on me I soe no reason for either of us to be upset by that.” Nyer spoke whimsically.

Slate let his father have a moment before he spoke that was a name he had never heard before though “who is that?”

“Amazing how everyone else falls in line of seeing me as a threat, yet without breaking from the herd, you contain your own thoughts and feelings...” Chimera seemed to peer at the Changeling with admiration, “All other inhabitants treat me as a tyrant and you treat me as a lover.”

Seth gazed far across the room, but was obviously seeing memories play in his mind rather than the space he and Slate occupied, “Jasper was the first of those I stole away with that admitted his love for me.”

“So what with what others think, when the world is yours to make opinions matter for what ?” Nyer mused playfully “Once my revenge is complete, the Dragon will be put in his place I will bring back to this place what belongs here and these chains can vanish.”

“So He is like your ex or something ?” Slate questioned obviously unsure what was running through Seth’s mind.

“Speaking of.. I know our verbal contract was not to discuss this on our weekly anniversary as per my desire, but I have one last thing to inform you of. I saw the nightmares that plague the Dragon’s waking hours. He’s feeling guilty and I know why.” Chimera grinned and squirmed.

“No.. I never returned his feelings.” Seth replied bluntly, “But I loved him in a familial way. He was special to me, what I had assumed would be the closest thing to family I could ever have. So he’s dear to me, but I wasn’t ever in love romantically with him. He took it hard and when he left, it was devastating for me... It was why I originally went into the material world; to find him. But I never did and I eventually gave up. But Noah... He was everything for all I thought I wanted and didn’t know needed. He sought out and found Jasper.. And it’s possible that when Noah left, Jasper went to find him I turn.”

“Oh you cannot torment me to face the Dragon I need a quiver filled with barbs to humble his hubris.” Nyer said delightfully his hand caressing along the Faes side.

“So I might run across him in my looking, is there anything you want me to say to him ?” Slate asked obviously surprised that he had never heard any of this.

“Will you enlighten me as to why you hold such a vendetta against the Dragon? Even I am not so adamant about chasing him an enemy as you seem to be.” Chimera asked still grinning as he pressed his cheek to Nyer’s hand.

“I.. I don’t know. You know better than most that sentiments are difficult for me.” The Dragon seemed to come to his senses as he stood and refocused his sights on Slate, “I wish for him to come back and I hope he is alright, but I will not force anyone to stay.”

“He is overly proud, he was rude to the Queen and lacks proper humility, these are things I must teach him.” Nyer said with a smile “After all I am well trained in such manners.” Nyer smiled as deviantly as he could.

“I think I understand, I know what I will say if I encounter him do not worry.” Slate tried to be assuring but sensed as if there was more to the story.

“I think perhaps you’re interested in him as well.”  Chimera chuckled, taking the moment to bask in what he could see, “I think perhaps you desire to know him as you know me. I certainly do.”

“Thank you.” The Dragon moved to carefully put his good arm around Slate, “What say we have a meal together.. I made some special arrangements if you’re interested.”

“If such a desire was to be in my thoughts it would only be to further my desires and pleasures.” Nyer said affirmatively “what has you interested in him ?”

“That sounds great.” Slate said with a smile on his face shaking his head in agreement.

“He is an original power, particularly of Arcadia. Many worlds here only see him as a legend.” Chimera explained with his normal unique optimism, “That alone is a draw to him, but what makes him the way he is? Isn’t that what makes others interested? Just as I cannot always read you, it is the same thing that makes me want either you or him, or even your Queen.”

“Good.. I’m not sure what I’d tell them if you decided not to show.” Seth smiled before shifting into his Dragon form to bring Slate back to the world above. On the pavilion at the back of palace, as Seth flew around, there seemed to be almost a fair with tents set up and a massive collection of Changelings milling about enjoying themselves as they sampled foods and beverages and shared their wares.

“Perhaps then I should make it a goal of mine to serve him up to you however it is you wish.” Nyer said playfully but reflected on the answer. “How is it you always craft your answers into questions.” Nyer chuckled pulling himself from the Fae so to better lean against him.

“Wha .... what is all this for ?” Slate said wide eyed taking in the scene all around him.

“My nature is an inquisitive one, so naturally I crave answers, but the problem seems to be that answers only give rise to more questions.” Chimera sighed happily as he gazed at Nyer, “Have you ever heard of the hydra? Cut off one head and two grow from the stump. In the grand scheme of the span of existence, I am both young and old, so I am curious for my youth and wise for my years. Such a conundrum I seem to be. And you are completely unaffected by it all. How could I not love you?”

Seth landed on a large empty platform made just such for him. As soon as Slate was safely off his scaled body, his form shifted back into a human shape. He smiled as he walked his son to the edge of the platform to look at the expanse of the festivities, “This is a celebration for your travels and good fortune. I’ve even temporarily allowed a few goblins in, ones I’ve interviewed intensely. They may have some objects of interest to you. Anything you want today, is yours.”

“Such a way with words how am I ever to compete with such flattery and restrain myself from throwing myself utterly at you.” Nyer mused hopelessly enamored with his one time master.

“This is so much ... all of this for me ?” Slate was obviously dumbstruck at the spectacle that was standing before him looking at everything and thinking of the limitless possibilities.

“I don’t do flattery, I speak my truths. Perhaps that is the attraction.” Chimera chuckled as he watched the faerie, “You can always trust me to be honest.”
