Adamant is a dark metal with luminescent flakes. Weapons do not scratch it and fire does not melt it. It remains cool to the touch even in the hottest summer sun. It absorbs light and glows slightly at night. Magic can be used to shape it, but requires massive amounts of energy and as such is usually done ceremonially. Even that shaping has limited effect, and cannot separate the metal from the whole mass.

The world is is coated in a spiderweb of adamant. There are regions made of thick tunnels of the metal, and some where the metal is scarce. The central hub of the continent is a massive city named Adamant after the same metal. All of the foundation of the city is composed of the metal, forming a rough disk nearly 100 miles in diameter.

There are lines of adamant forming a series of roads across the continent. Travel along this lines is incredibly easy and has led to flourishing trade companies. Even travel to the frozen north is relatively easy along these metal roads, although not many like the climate. The network of metal tunnels running beneath the continent are full of ancient mysteries and all kinds of treasure. Delving is a popular profession, and many guard their maps of the tunnels fiercely.
